    Wow, now my man Andy is grabbing up games for us to watch from our past 1985 Buffalo Bills. This is so fascinating to me!! This is totally uncharted waters for me going back this far. I know we did poorly in 1985 but that doesn't stop my wonder and fascination. I thank you so much, Andy, for all these new videos you are giving us Bills fans to watch these past few months and for your consistency and dedication in archivesmanship for our enjoyment for years. You've allowed me to see great Bills games across many generations, my friend!!!!

    Ferragamo had opted to play in the CFL (Montreal Alouettes) in the early 80s but that was an unmitigated disaster as he simply couldn't adapt to the Canadian football rules and field. He then returned to the NFL.

    This brings back some fun memories...went to this game with some friends on the last minute we got to Rich Stadium 20 minutes B4 kickoff with no tickets but luckily a scalper took pity on us and really hooked us up at literally no cost! It was steaming hot and it was a prelude to a long long season BUT! the next year the USFL folded and in entered Jim Kelly so it was worth the wait just like it was worth the wait of 17 straight no playoffs season's because now we have Josh Allen! Thanx for the wonderful post and Go Bills! #BillsMafia...

    This was my first ever Bills game. I was a few weeks shy of my 17th birthday. Went with my brother. Got our tickets that summer at the stadium. Bills should have won this game. Had to settle for 3 lousy FG.

      This was the year before the Jim Kelly "renaissance" began in Buffalo. I remember that offseason very well. Kelly was flown on a private jet along with then Bills GM Bill Polian to come to Buffalo to sign his first contract with the team. Kelly had previously been drafted in 1982 by Buffalo but opted to go to the Houston Gamblers of the now-defunct USFL (that good old Donald Trump essentially killed). The late demented Bills owner Ralph Wilson was offered multiple players and a first-round draft pick by then Raiders owner Al Davis for Kelly but in one of the very few things Wilson ever did right, he refused.

      I was about 6 years old here. The Bills & Chargers wouldn't play at ALL until I was about 19 & a sophomore in college. Not regular season, preseason, or postseason. Kelly never played against them & Marv only coached against them as Chiefs HC
      Even crazier was that the Chargers went to the Bills only 2 times (1976 & here) from 1969 through 1999. They've been to Buffalo 6 times this millennium interestingly enough, & this year will make it 7

    Fantastic memory... this was my first weekend in college, and it took me forever to find out the score of this game. Amazingly unprofessional broadcast by today's standards.. no replays on those last two plays, and a color man who had no idea they were out of timeouts!

      Needed better coaching & much, much better qb play than Ferragamo & Bruce Mathison.
      The 84 team had an atrocious D & ordinary O. 85 was the exact opposite. D was OK. O was the worst O in team history & the worst O of ANY team in the entire decade of the 1980s. Kelly on this team & Kay Stephenson might have kept his job.

    Who would have thought ? A game in Buffalo being too HOT. The entire Midwest and Northeast was hot that day except East Rutherford where the Eagles and Giants had rain. Chicago hosting Tampa Bay, Cincinnati hosting Seattle, Pittsburgh hosting Indianapolis, Cleveland hosting St Louis all were pretty hot and only one played on natural grass was Cleveland so the other games were in 90's or even 100's on the field on the artificial turf.

    My first regular season NFL game #29 give myself a B- to a C grade. I got put on my back on a peel back block on defense by #85 Tim something. I made some plays on special teams against the great Andre Reed. I made good tackle inbounds to keep the clock running 3:03:13 flipping over pro runningbacks then at 3:04:30 hard hit keeping WR in inbounds no timeouts First NFL win so long ago, I was 22 now I'm 57 and not supposed to be outside! Do you remember why the Chargers and Bills played each other twice that season?

    • @ronaldj.granieri5355
      @ronaldj.granieri5355 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because of the Bills 2-14 mark, the schedule makers had them play a home-and-home against another last place team in the conference. In 1986 they would play the Chiefs twice under the same rule, which no longer applies in scheduling.

    • @justinmaybach6388

      Yeah, it was different back then if you watch any of the old games most of the crowd didn't wear team merchandise or the men had their shirts off in the warm weather like in this game. Team merchandise grew bigger in the 90s as the NFL marketed it more and other sports like the NBA with Jordan grew merchandising to a new level.
