  • Rey Skywalker will be back, but it might not have the same legs if Disney can't find a way to market her correctly.

They won’t want Finn or baby yoda to steal the show I’d rather see a Finn origin story

I like finn as a character and as a central focus but burnt out from going back in time. Let's move forward.

I want Finn to be the antagonist in the Rey movie (and to win)

They need a massive overhaul of that series. The person who will put the trailer together is going to have a huge job. They can’t miss with that. also they must go with the “less is more” approach.

I always thought Rey should have been set up as the last Jedi. She is lead to believe as much and begins to believe it herself. She persues what she now believes is her destiny with the help of Poe and the very reluctant Finn just to reveal that it was, in fact, Finn who is the actual last Jedi. Which would lead to a great character arc for both of them. Rey dealing with her disappointment and still feeling like a nobody despite having demonstrated her value asking the way and Finn suddenly having a responsibility thrust on to him that he doesn't want and how they deal with that. Also, the fact that people are calling her Rey Skywalker makes me furious lol

What you say makes sense and unfortunately that’s the reason it will not be implemented. They seem to be incapable of admitting when they’ve made mistakes. That would be annoying enough but they’ve spent the last 10 or so years calling the fans names when the fans had legitimate criticisms. I’m not sure how many people are still willing to give Star Wars any chances.
Personally, I exited the fandom immediately after watching the Phantom Menace but I still love the OT.
Thank you for the video! 🙏

Dear Jon: We all want Star Wars to be awesome again, but you need to stop helping House of Maus for free. 😅

Honestly, my dislike of Rey aside, a Herculean effort is required by Disney and LF to attempt to salvage this character. Objectively, they need to put out an amazing film. We are talking a movie that actually challenges Rey. Strip of her powers, have her loose/ being called out. A film that actually treats her like a character and not a prop that moved from scene to scene. Because the issue with Rey is that she’s horribly written and a Mary Sue. That’s hard to shake off and when you consider her pathetic backstory; it’s quite hilarious.
Even though I’m checked out of Disney Star Wars I don’t have any ill will to Daisy Ridley. I feel bad for her to a degree. But this movie, LF cannot screw around. Because the sequels are aging like milk and the brand as a whole cannot sustain anymore setbacks.

If Disney wrote a script where Rey has flaws and has to work to overcome them, it has potential, but the Star Wars brand name is damaged. Some people will go to anything that says Star Wars, but at this point others will stay away from any Star Wars movie because it is a Star Wars movie. I think the biggest hope in this would be if they set the budget to match how much the movie could make. If you compare similar hype you could set the budget accordingly. The Marvels took 200M. Solo took nearly 400M, but had a legacy character that people care about. Dial of Destiny also had a legacy character people cared about. A good box office estimate would be between 200M and 300M therefore, if the budget is between 80M and 120M then the movie has a much better chance of making money.

Not to get too “meta.” But, what if “McDonald’s” released a product that is almost universally disliked? They would drop it IMMEDIATELY! Bc it’s not making money. Alternate universe where McDonald’s doesn’t drop it and they tell us all “no you’re wrong! And bc you all hated it we’re gonna put this in every value meal.” The customers now start going elsewhere. McDonald’s STILL doesn’t learn and continues to try to prove everyone is wrong?! They change the nuggets and fries now?? What I’m getting at is McDonald’s is a titan among all brands and if they did what Disney is doing McDonald’s would be extinct much faster than what we’re seeing with our beloved Star Wars. I think a lot of ppl are so upset bc the solution is so obvious to everyone and yet they just refuse to a basic course correction!! Hope this finds you well. Keep doing what you’re doing! 🤘🏽

I like your take and i will add that for Rey to be a hit they need add a great support cast and a story like yuzon Vong and she really struggles to restart the jedi academy or she helps everyone flourish amd then the vong war tears everything apart amd leave us with a cliff hanger something exciting. Side bar DUNE was done really well

Hi @jonautomates. Awesome video by the way. Does the announcement of a Rey movie count as a form of marketing? and if so, how does it affect the marketing budget if the movie gets shelved. Since the movie is still 2 or 3 years away from release(and no script has been mentioned yet), how does it help to announce it so early?
Would Love to hear your thoughts on this.

I think most sci-fi enjoyers will see this movie eventually. The question is, can they convince us to come out and see it in the movies? I hope they don't use any jokes, hefty nonsense dialogue or filler space battle scenes in the trailer, I want to see weight and consequences. If they're smart, they'll watch the Dune 1 trailer again.

Rey movie will make money?!?!? 0:47 HAHAHHA. It will be competing with the Marvels for lowest Box Office.
Also for it to be Star Wars movie it needs $200 million minimum. Knowing Disney and KK probably higher.

At the end of the day, neither Luke nor Rey are true masters because there was no Council to grant then that rank. Force ghost cannot confer rank, even if they can train you. Rey “finished” her training with someone who was never even recognized as a true Jedi. So yeah…
