The older we get, the more we seek for the perfect mattress. When we were kids, we could sleep on any hard or soft bed, on the chair, sofa, anywhere! 🤣

I own a bed company. We do both bed in a box as well as have stores. You should be able to find a great mattress that you love for under $1000! For anyone saying in store mattress sales are a scam, just remember it costs a lot to rent a place and stock it and and advertise that you exist.
Another thing consumers are unaware of is the amount of waste that comes with a free return policy that lots of internet mattress companies offer. 15-40% return rate means lots of mattresses end up in a landfill. Charities can only accept so many mattresses.
Bottom line, find a store that offers 100 night exchange and try them out to find the right one. Most stores are not as bad as they are made out to be.

I too had a Sleep Number Bed after 4 years it developed a low spot on the right side, I went back to the Sleep Number Store and spoke to the salesman. He suggested I increase the air pressure to 100 on the dial in the morning when I leave for work and when I go to sleep adjust it to my sleep number. Well that suggestion did absolutely nothing so I kept the air pressure to 100 for a week same results no change. The companies claim of a 20 year warranty is false it’s a prorated. To fix the problem I would have to pay $250.00 to replace the 2” memory foam pad and if that didn’t solve the problem I would need to replace the top zippered portion of the mattress and that piece was $450.00. The heart of the Sleep Number Bed is the 2” memory foam pad and the entire zippered top piece (section ) of the mattress. Don’t be fooled by the sales pitch of adjustable settings they mean nothing if the mattress quality is junk.

I learned to stay away from pillow top mattresses. They get flat and bunch up over time and prevent flipping the bed over. It's much easier to just buy a separate mattress topper if you want a pillow top.

I am on my third search for a mattress. I spent hours and hours on "research" and I'm still not happy with my Birch. I don't remember what my first bed in a box was but it was all foam and wasn't cheap, had it about three years. The Birch (expensive) doesn't have any chemicals, off gassing, etc. It is so soft the company sent me a topper that would make it better - not. So here I am once again searching for something again, I was almost going to settle on one mattress until I found out it had fiberglass as fire retardant. Good grief!!! Sometimes I want to hook up a hammock on my porch and sleep on that.

If you have a bad back like I do avoid memory foam. It lasts 2 1/2 to 3 years and then it gets lumpy and causes severe back pain. I spent $5000 for the top of the line Beauty Rest and had to get rid of it after 3 yr. Got a sleep number to replace it and couldn't be happier. My sleep number is 95. My back is very sensitive. And it won't degrade like a regular mattress over time. If your back changes you just change the firmness. Bonus, get the cheapest model to avoid the memory foam they add to higher priced models.

    • @Speed04GT
      @Speed04GT ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve had a sleep number bed for about 15 years. Unfortunately they don’t last to well and the warranty is not that great. The foam around the sides disintegrates quickly, have had to replace the the air chamber about 4 times. They either go flat or develop a big bubble. All in all I would rather go back to a traditional spring mattress. Another downside I have had is you have to constantly adjust the air pressure as when it gets cold or hot outside the mattress will lose air pressure or gain air pressure. Maybe a 10 degree temperature swing in the house but it really seems to affect the bed. Mine is an older model from 2006 or so so maybe some of these issues have been resolved. The only positive I can say is that they don’t seem to sag but the top that covers the air chamber is pretty worn out.

I think my parents brought 1 mattress in their lifetime. Ones when they had their first own bedroom. ( they were sleeping on a pull out couch for atleast 14 years) then brought their first full bedroom suite, bed, mattresses, dresser and bedsides. That was around 1966/67. They had this till 2008 , when mum past away.
    They never complained being uncomfortable.

Kingsdown mattress 10,000 series red firm with microcoils cost me $4700. We have had it 30 days. It has a hump that waterfalls to the sides by 1.5 inch. When you sit on it it sinks 3 to 4 inches. Due to the 1.5 inch waterfall the hips are higher than the legs and head and it forces an arch in the back while sleeping. The body slides towards the heads board as well as to the sides of the mattress due to this muffin waterfall. When I called, the company told me this was a standard engineered design. Buyer beware

However, after 2 weeks, the firm grid reintroduced lower back pain and sciatica back into my life (herniated disc from years ago). My shoulders and upper back were always sore. I felt like I was run over by a car every morning. Returned it and got a Tempur-Pedic LuxeAdapt in soft. It is very firm compared to the store, but it helped with my lower back pain. However, it will most likely be returned because it feels like I'm sleeping in an oven. It's been 3 weeks since the first purchase, and I haven't sleep good for one night since. I hate this experience.

@@yousefnajjar4209 If you don't sleep hot, I think the LuxeAdapt soft will help your back quite a bit. It takes a while to break in, but it traps heat almost instantly. I kept it for 3 months and although the heat aspect got a little better, I ended up returning for a LuxeBreeze soft. It is not as soft as the LuxeAdapt but I sleep better since I don't wake up at night feeling hot on it. Another thing I noticed was the LuxeAdapt sinks you in quite a lot. It was hard to get up from that bed. You don't sink in as much in the breeze model so it's much easier changing sides or getting up. I think both beds are great for side sleeping, and I'm happy with the LuxeBreeze.

A few very important questions to ask you.
Those heat map pad things people lay on to show those colors where pressure points and pain is. How accurate are they in percentages?
Should you only have blues and green colors?
Can a mattress place put them on any bed they sell?
I've heard opinions on which beds keep you cool, but peoples experience and regret for these supposed cooling beds leaves a lot of mumbo jumbo.
so please help me make sense of it all.
I do tend to sleep warm to hot, why it matters to me.
With the 100 day trial etc what if you move during the period will they accept it back from wherever you live at that time?
I'm moving in October but yet the air mattress I'm on I'm hating because I'm twisting and turning and losing sleep over it.
Like everything else lately things don't seem to wait til it's the right time to fail.
Case and point my window AC last Aug in bedroom. or one in living room this May.
My old bed I already gave away. My air mattress is bumpy not flat, and is never same thickness.
So I must buy a new bed in August not in October after I move.
If I buy from a local place how do I get them to give free delivery or I'll buy online after I leave here. What I dislike about local places is that with last bed they charge you $100
to deliver, because they play the you're not within 10 miles game. I dispise.

Hi, if you sleep hot, get latex. It's cool and only holds you body temp. In other words in winter the spot you sleep on will be warm but not hot. Natural latex lasts forever. I trialed one (in Australia but it was too hard and they took it back. Had a 120 day trial. I trialed a secon one and it was great! But I figured I could make my own and returned it. Bought some latex layers in different densities and put them over a box spring mattress and it's really comfortable and I have chronic pain, so if you don't have pain it shouldn't be a problem. There's a tutorial on here on how to make your own bed and they sell all the components. That's where I got the idea. Good luck. Oh from a brick and mortar store they never give you a trial period, once you buy it, it's yours. We have a company in Australia that let's you trial the bed 365 days!

Do you have any referrals regarding obtaining a good hotel style for mattress? The two separate occasions I slept in hotels by Disneyland I had the greatest nights sleep in my entire life! I nearly 70 years old and I’m about 30 pounds overweight I’ve had two hip replacements at a slipped disc in my lower back in 2017 and was hospitalized because of it, plus I work on my feet all the time today, which I love doing but the bottom line is I have a horrible 10-year-old Serta mattress and I have to put blankets and or pillows under my spine in order to sleep every night I am so miserable and need a new mattress so bad and everywhere I go to look for them they’re too soft and they’re just depressing! One of the most important things to figure out before shelling out on a top tier mattress is whether or not that’s actually the answer to your sleep problems.
I’ve been struggling with sleep for years and thought that a Purple mattress would finally be the answer to getting a good nights sleep. A couple thousand dollars and a few years later, it’s just a mattress that doesn’t improve my sleep at all.
Sometimes your sleep issues are due to medical problems, not your mattress. Personally, it doesn’t seem to matter what I sleep on because my body struggles with sleep at the neurological level. It may sound a little ridiculous, but talk with your doctor before buying a mattress!
