      Absolutely true. This is also the franchise Disney stupidity released a sequel during summertime for an obvious winter release and then got rid of the film rights to fox (who handled the third one, and then the other parties involved fought about it for no reason whatsoever. They don't have them back I don't think at least, but the whole mess ruined chances of Liam Nesson and Tilda Swinton (and Will Poulter) to appear in "The Silver Chair" and "The Magician's Nephew" and I'd like to see how anyone is going to live up to their preformances.

    "It means that though the Witch knew the Deep Magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But if she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."

      @stick-itproductions.3307 5 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@charmagne2102 scripture often mentions Jesus as the creator, the laborer who brought everything into being. Everything Jesus created, mind you, was dictated by God. In the book of Genesis, God speaks and things come into existence (let there be______) so it is by his *word* God brings creation into being.
      In John chapter 1 it says: in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were *made by him* and without him was nothing made that is made... And *the word* was made flesh and dwelt among us...
      So Jesus, being the Word of God, did have a major role in creation.
      Then in Collosians 1:16 it says, For by him (the son, Jesus) were all things that are in heaven, and that are in the earth... all things were created by him and for him."
      (Side Note: this concept of creation by God's words can also be seen in that Aslan, if I'm remembering The Magicians Nephew correctly, created Narnia by singing.)
      So Aslan is the one who creates Narnia, Just as Jesus is the one who creates the Earth- but each does so according to his Father's purpose and will.
      To sum it up: Aslan's depiction of creating Narnia and being a fictional representation of Jesus as the son of God (Emperor over the Sea) is in line with what Scripture says, as Jesus is acknowledged as the one by whom and in whom all things come into existence according to the will of God.

I don't know what the believers will do after Satan is finished off at Armageddon (considering that the Bible implies that we will minister in eternity), but I really do hope we will visit/rule over/minister to worlds like Narnia or planets similar to Malacandra/Perelandra in Lewis' Space Trilogy. It'd be really neat to be made perfect in Christ and to lead other, innocent species to Him as well.

    I haven’t seen this movie since I was a kid, so I expected it to age poorly. The 4 leads are ok, not too bad but not great, but really just about everything else works. The score, the mix of good cgi and good practical effects, the art design, the voice acting (Liam Neeson in particular), and Tilda Swinton giving a really great performance as the White Witch. All the adult actors do a great job from James McAvoy to Jim Broadbent to James Cosmo as Father Christmas.
    It’s really refreshing to watch a Disney movie where there are stakes, themes, a decent moral message, a serious tone with the right amount of fun, and (most importantly) treating the source material with the respect it deserves. I’m legitimately proud of this movie, it’s not perfect but it means a lot to me and hopefully a few others.

    Tilda Swinton made a pretty good Jadis, but there's one aspect of the character that has never been properly portrayed in the live adaptations. Jadis is part giant. She is described as being really tall, supposedly at least 7 feet (2.13m). If John Rhys Davies (6'1") can be made to look like a 4' dwarf, then you'd think they could do a few tricks to make an actress look taller.

    • @jakobfel2
      @jakobfel2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Merely Correct The witch represents Satan/the Antichrist in one person, depicting the "angel of light" form of Satan. However, Tash (the evil deity of the Calormene Empire) is symbolically Satan as he truly is: an evil, ugly false deity filled with pride. Aslan is the form that Jesus Christ takes in the World of Narnia; He takes upon the visage of a lion, resembling the Bible's description of Christ as being the Lion of Judah. His Father (God the Father), in the Narnian faith, is the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea, just as the Ten Commandments are depicted as the Deep Magic, and then the salvation via redemption through Christ's sacrifice is depicted as the Deeper Magic from before the dawn of time.
      I know my basics of Narnian lore, but I might be wrong. I find it somewhat interesting that God the Father (the Emperor) and God the Son (Aslan, the Guardian King) appear in Narnian lore, but God the Holy Spirit does not (at least from what I know). I mean, Aslan crowned Frank I and Helen as the first King and Queen of Narnia, and he crowned the Pevensie children as High King, High Queen, King, and Queen, which resembles how the Christians will reign with Jesus over the universe for eternity, but yet there's really no depiction of the Holy Spirit in the Narnian lore.

    I really like the Christian symbolism here: by giving up his life for Edmund, Aslan clearly represents Jesus, who died to save us from sin; and Jadis clearly represents the Devil, who is also the Accuser of mankind, and tries to get us condemned to death.

      The Craft Cabinet Lewis was one of the most brilliant authors in history, he was clever and also had a very strong grasp on Biblical concepts yet somehow he was able to simplify them enough so we can understand them without losing the meaning. His work is a huge inspiration to me as an author. :)

    "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. Absolutely. Going to be pretty hard to get someone as good as Tilda Swinton as well to play that role, she was a beyond perfect casting choice, even more so than Liam Nesson as Aslan. Really wish they would/would've made more films-they both would've came back for possibly both "The Silver Chair" and "Magician's Nephew" and with larger roles in one or both of them had that happened.

    • @aaronjones7260
      @aaronjones7260 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I believe its the symbol of the Royal House of Charn, if you ever read the Magicians Nephew, Jadis (the witch) came from another world called Charn where she was the Empress. She was brought to Narnia accidently by Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, so I think the symbol is the emblem of her family who were the royal family in Charn. If you have never read the Magicians Nephew I highly recommend. It tells you about the creation of Narnia and how the witch came to be there and take over it in the first place, definitely my favourite of the Narnia books, it literally explains everything!!

    This movie was very well done. I’ve loved Narnia since I was a child, and I think they really hit it out of the park with this one, but they absolutely lost me at Price Caspian. What a shame they couldn’t pull the franchise together. Ah well. There’s always the BBC versions.

    • @gregorymoore2877
      @gregorymoore2877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one scene was well done. Mostly. But, overall the movie was terrible. They lost me probably 30 minutes into it the midnight showing on the very first day. The BBC versions are much better.

    • @Sarah-zr1nj
      @Sarah-zr1nj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregorymoore2877 I agree with you on the BBC versions being superior. I wore those VHS tapes out back in the day (The Silver Chair with Tom Baker was my favorite). The special effects were atrocious, but they stayed insanely loyal to the books.

    • @gregorymoore2877
      @gregorymoore2877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sarah-zr1nj Indeed the special effects were low budget. But, I can easily overlook cheap visuals if the script is good enough. I could have even more easily overlooked the (medium to decent?) special effects in this movie if the script were good. But, the best special effects won't save a movie if the script is bad.
