I've had so much of a struggle with that descending tap riff around 3:30 for years. You explained it so well and I got over the curve. Thank you, great lesson.
As someone who's watched a lot of your videos for a while, I gotta say it's awesome to see the quality of you videos improve so much, they look and sound better, and you've gotten even better at explaining things. A lot of your lessons on youtube are things that are above my ability, but I can still follow along and learn some cool new things. Cheers dude, keep up the great work.
Learning solo’s sometimes is intimidating. But I love the way you break down the licks in segments. Makes it a lot easier to envision playing the whole thing in the end. Great stuff!
I retract my statement. I think the way he is playing it is right. I was also triangulating with Carl Brown, who somehow found a harder way to play this lick
I can tap it on clean and low gain and all the notes sound with the same volume, Try just after tapping 19th fret kinda downstrumming with your tapping finger and then pull-of to 15 then 12, if you're smart enough you should perform it right :)
best tutorial on yt, thank u!! i feel so cool being able to play this solo 😂😂 ive started guitar 3 months ago, this tutorial was way better than every other ive watched
He actually doesn't, he use nail i think look there 8:20, he would probably dropped pick with that hand gesture as all of his fingers are seperated there, also here 11:17. Fr wow lol.
Thank you Chris, my guitar playing would be no where near as good if it were not for your incredible lessons. Keep doing what you're doing because it's awesome🔥🤘
I'm glad you did this one. Everyone else has the tapping sections as pull offs. You're doing hammer ons and it sounds more accurate. I was wondering about the right way to tap cause there are so many tabs that have it different. Thanks dude.
Thank you so much for your videos. I haven't actually learned how to play any of these solo, but that's not why I watch the videos. I watch these videos instead for inspiration for writing guitar solos.
Hey Chris! Just wanted to say thank you for all your sick lessons, your channel is one of my favourites for sure. I was just wondering if you could do some Queensryche lessons, like eyes of a stranger for example. I would totally understand if you can't since I know you get overwhelmed with requests.
Hey Chris been using all your videos to learn some new songs, and they have all been a fantastic help. But im wondering if its possible for you to share your settings you use in Guitar Rig for people with the software. Stuff like the clean effect you have on your other "One" solo videos.
I would like to ask that you could make a trivium until the world goes cold solo video if its not too much to ask your videos have helped me on guitar thank you
Very good lesson video. My question is... 19pull12hammer15 or 19pull15pull12. ? At that speed, it's very hard to tell and arguably doesn't matter as long as you spray the right notes.
I agree, this a cool-ish sounding solos but it’s not really hard to play. However, you have to come up with it. It’s like when a single bend defines a solo. It’s just a bend. Just one note but it makes it awesome. I think in this solo it’s the tapping at the beginning. It’s easy, but it sounds awesome. It’s fast and violent.
Super win stuff! Getting through the Modes course on Udemy, next will be Ultimate Shred! How about some super tasty lessons on To Hell with the Devil and Soldiers Under Command, please.....
I know this is a really old video, but why don’t you bar the 15 on the section with the hammer on roll from 15 to 17 to 19 and then the pull off from 17 to 15, so then the transition to the next phrase wouldn’t be as much to move? Figured that would be a good tip if anyone else was learning this
Nice one..as usual...due to your lessons I now can do solos in some days... You have a nice expressive playing. ..it would be nice if you give us a lesson on the last Black Dahlia Murder album: Nightbringers, for example Nightbringers solo..cause they now have a very talented soloist (Brandon ELLIS) and I cannot understand his phrasing by myself.. Thanx and I continue following you (even if you don't make a video on nightbringers).
I love your tutorial but i have trouble with tapping bc sometimes when i tap higher notes like 19 i don't get a noise maybe im not taping hard enough idk help would be appreciated.
I watched another you tube guitarist & he does the tapping pattern of 19.15.12/ 20.15.12/ same for both E & B strings & then 17.13.10/ 18.13.10, both are great players but who is right????
I bet that question has been asked many times but I havent seen any info on his channel info panel and it wasnt included in his gear video 3 years ago. Question is, What is this guitar and if anyone could tell me most important thing which is how does the tune hold in that one after intense whammy session? I would be grateful especially if its not the real FR but some kind of license built bridge as I was always curious about their reliability. Thank You and have fun playing everyone!
Hey dude, can you put a video up of the duel lead section of this song that follows this solo.. every tab I see or video I see doesnt ever sound right and I reckon you'd be the man to give us the goods.. please help
Any chance you could take a look at Immortal Flame by Grey Heaven Fall? I know it's hidden in the backlogs of TH-cam, but I find it very mystifying and all an all round lovely piece. Also, I can't find tabs on the entire internet, thanks man! Keep being awesome!
Hell Chris. Im having trouble sustaining the note. What peddle are you using? I have a Vox +40 but every time I do the first string licks it fades out quickly. Wondering if I should invest in a sustain peddle or does anybody have other recommendations? Cheers. Any help will be appreciated. Phil.
@@jacksonjeff7207 2 years later and I can finally play it. My advice is to practice similar licks and build up speed. Also, making the picking motion tight and efficient is key.
I explained above check it out..and am happy to see I wasnt the only one finding the finger pattern difficult due to an injured index finger... I find this to be a more ergonomically correct way to play it however it is much harder.try using your pinky on the 19...thats actually how Kirk plays it in the official ONE video and live. Dont give up 🤘.
@@koiledkobra i also agree, fantastic lesson one of the best out there! but I watched Kirk and he uses his pinky instead of index on the 19. I injured my hand and found that its easier for me to use the pinky any way. now. hope this helps. if you strengthen up your index finger lift you will get it tho . lots of ways to build that pull off strength with the index out there. 🤘
TAB Sections:
Sec 1: 4:24
Sec 2: 7:57
Sec 3: 12:25
Sec 4: 15:24
Thank you for your contributions to humanity, i salute you sir.
Thx fam
I've had so much of a struggle with that descending tap riff around 3:30 for years. You explained it so well and I got over the curve. Thank you, great lesson.
You had the balls to attempt this ??? 😳 YALL ARE FUCKING CRAZY.. my fingers hurt just watching
I have no idea what he is doing. I don't understand.
As someone who's watched a lot of your videos for a while, I gotta say it's awesome to see the quality of you videos improve so much, they look and sound better, and you've gotten even better at explaining things.

Mate, this is the best breakdown of this solo in existence. Cheers to you for a super clear and easy to understand lesson!
You really explain this in a efficient manner. Great job. Those taps arent difficult but frustrating when you overthink it.
Agreed, I learned I was doing the tapping backwards and now its like rocket science lol
Learning solo’s sometimes is intimidating. But I love the way you break down the licks in segments. Makes it a lot easier to envision playing the whole thing in the end. Great stuff!
Thanks Chris for all your great lessons...Any chance of Pantera Shattered outro solo lesson
‘Tallica is always appreciated.
not tallica😂😂
i know i’m not the only one who sat here for three hours watching this video and practicing that solo. at least i hope
You’re definitely not lmao. I tried I can do every part except for the end of the 2nd section for some ungodly reason
6:40 is such a cool lick🤘🏽I’m also buying this guitar next pay day it looks so cool🔥
This is a simplified version of the actual lick
I retract my statement. I think the way he is playing it is right. I was also triangulating with Carl Brown, who somehow found a harder way to play this lick
How are your taps so loud?? When I tap on the fret it is almost silent
Try upping your amp's gain
I had the same problem for me it was a mix of a crappy guitar and not enough gain I’d recommend getting a distortion pedal
I can tap it on clean and low gain and all the notes sound with the same volume, Try just after tapping 19th fret kinda downstrumming with your tapping finger and then pull-of to 15 then 12, if you're smart enough you should perform it right :)
Maybe your action is too high? Did you manage to play it yet?
glad im not the only one but yeah mate, idk how to fix it (no shit ig bc I can't do it either)
Thanks Chris. I liked the pace of the lesson, easy to grasp.
best tutorial on yt, thank u!! i feel so cool being able to play this solo 😂😂 ive started guitar 3 months ago, this tutorial was way better than every other ive watched
I just realized that you don't use a pick. Wow

Great lesson your the only one who I could truly learn this solo from

I use my thumb lol works fine

19pull12hammer15 or
19pull15pull12. ?
At that speed, it's very hard to tell and arguably doesn't matter as long as you spray the right notes.
Maan, this solo is evidence of Hammett's guitar skills
Man i think metallica hace much difficult solos I learned this solo in 1 hour
One of the easier solos though
Master of puppets solo is way harder than this one

nice work chris!now its time for breaking all illusions!!
Can you please do the last solo from betrayed by avenged sevenfold

Crank up your gain
Tap hard and do a pull off when you lift your finger. I use my middle finger since it's bigger than my index, so it taps hsrder
It may be that your pick ups are too high
Meme Man doesn't a high pickup make it easier to tap? Is that a typo or have i been thinking opposite?
@@ojas_sapkota perhaps but if the pickups are too high it will not make any sounds if u tap on higher frets
Great explanation and great cover 👌🏻👌🏻
