I think this may honestly be the best number I’ve ever seen the pros do. The choreography, the story, the music, the outfits just everything was perfect. I’ve never felt this emotional watching the pros dance before.

The fact they showed woman dancing together and men dancing together is amazing. The representation and inclusiveness is so sweet. I love this.
Many will not even know that this was the way way back in history. Dance was almost considered "foreplay" and men and women getting up so close was considered too sexual so, unless they were spouses, men danced with men and women danced with women.
This used to be considered usual dancing. Men danced with men and women danced with women. It has only been made unusual by recent society. However, i just love the way Johannes and Kai are so in step with each other and it is a beautiful dance.
Not everyone will understand, but this level of representation means SO much. For everyone who’s ever felt not enough, not accepted, not loved. This is for all of us. Thank you strictly for changing the game and doing it so tastefully! Inspiring.
this! I always say people wont know the impact of representation, unless they themselves have gone decades without it. Straight people will never be able to fully understand what a dance like this means to us, and thats okay! I watched strictly every year for the past like eight/nine years with my nan, and now watching this routine with her, we were both crying. Im not "out" but im not exactly subtle nor hiding it, amd to see this routine on a show ive watched since i was seven meant so much tome. I sob everytime i watch it. This will go down in strictly history.
It's actually even more than that, the two men dancing yes, and then all the other same sex couples and yet another layer is on top of it. The fact that specifically a black man is also the higher european noble in this scenario (all the others bow to him) is also very meaningful I think.

I couldn’t sum it up better myself. It means everything. I wish I’d seen this as a child, seeing two men dance together and have it be normal and beautiful.

I was moved to tears by this beautiful number. It makes me so happy that Johannes is given a platform to express himself so authentically. Both he and Kai are exquisite performers, and their friendship is great. Tears were flowing. This is why I love Strictly - wonderful dancing and an important message. Sadly, I don’t think I’d be able to see a routine like this on the show in my country.

I dont watch the show, but my mom had it on and I was speechless the whole routine. As a gay woman, I was close to tears. The dance, the song, the outfits, Johannes' emotion at the end, his partner running up to take his hand... Beautiful. And seeing all these comments being so supportive and loving the routine makes my heart so happy.
The part when it was all same sex couples dancing made me cry. THIS is the kind of representation thats meaningful. Thank you so much Strictly, Johannes, Kai and every pro in this routine. Bravo 😍👏👏👏
Same. I was thinking at the beginning how even though they have same gender couples, that hardly ever translates into the pro dances, and then they all started dancing in same gender pairings and I lost it and cried

Johannes is from South Africa and so is my partner. I grew up in totalitarian/communist regime and my partner grew up in apartheid regime. We are a rainbow couple. 🌈 To see this during #blackhistorymonth brought tears to our eyes. Long live King Johannes. 💚

I still rewatch this now even though it was months ago. It’s truly magical. Everything about the routine is perfect and it still hits me like the first time I seen it. It’s probably my favourite ever pro dance in all the years I have watched strictly.

Her choice to ask for a same-sex coupling didn't just open the floodgates, it *broke* them. And I LOVE how we get to watch same-sex dances like this every year now, just as a part of the course. I don't think there's been a year without a same-sex coupling since her and Katya either. And now other dance shows are following suit. I just love it, and I wish I'd grown up seeing this level of representation.

You can't imagene the Joy you brought to me. As a gay man I saw fot the frst time no struggle . Only beauty and part of each other without any seperation. Yes, it's that look of genuine joy on their faces that gets me the most I think. Everyone in this performance seems so free to express their passion for dancing and their love (platonic or otherwise) for eachother, it just warms my little heart. :)

I am a man who has always wanted to dance publicly with another man, but I have never allowed myself to do so for fear of how it would be received. This was such a beautiful scene, and so completely natural, and it gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow.

I think he's still processing the fact he's in an mlm pairing this year, and is free to express his identity more than ever before. its tear jerking to see how meaningful this is to him, makes me smile and cry more than i already was
Was absolutely living for King Johannes! Loved that they selected him for the role, especially when you consider it would be the least expected. And Kai makes for such an elegant, gentlemanly partner. Loved this, really gorgeous.
This was by far and away the best pro dance I've ever seen on the series. The music, the choreography, all of it was simply perfection. Watched it several times now! Kai has been a tremendous addition to the lineup, he is a truly fantastic dancer! And Johannes looks a different person this year! He seems so full of life and passionate! I'm so happy for him.
I have never seen anything so beautiful as this in my entire life. This moved me on so many levels. This is something I will remember for the rest of my life. This is the type of love so many of us dream of and finally it gives us all hope of what could be.
Find yourself someone who smiles at you the way Johannes and Kai smile at each other. I have genuinely never been so moved by a dance. Completely mesmerising, beautiful, an absolute work of art.
Or in my case, stay single but support all kinds of love with all my heart .

When I’m despairing about the state of the country I come back to this video. Strictly got so many ofcom complaints the year before because Johannes danced with another man for barely a minute and they responded with this. Perfection 🏳️🌈

Loved everything about this dance. What I also enjoyed was the speed of Johannes and Kai's movement around the floor. They took up hold and then 'whoosh' they were off, spinning and flying around the dance floor. They covered so much distance that the floor needed to be about twice the size! Every contestant should watch this as an example of the movement and drive that the judges are always asking for. Brava to all, pride and joy.
This is something that would have benefitted from being at Blackpool with the large dance floor. But what also helped it look so sweeping was the camera movement. The way it follows them round gives it extra motion
This is the greatest pro dance that has ever been done on strictly. On a season of 1st male couple partnership, this dance moved me more than any. As a straight man what it showed to me, was the sheer joy of dancing, the female pros were partnered with females and the male pros were partnered with males, but it didn't matter, the sheer joy that was transmitted whilst dancing to that beautiful piece of music made me think differently than I had thought before, and that always has to be a good think. Thank-you Strickly ❤
Exquisite. The music was spot on and the crescendo with the dancing brought instant tears to my eyes. Kai and Johannes were pure joy as they danced, and when they all joined in I was crying! The elegance, the bows, the romance, had to be one of the best routines they have done - and there have been so many amazing ones!
That was an fu to the haters! He’s aware that the show is getting hateful comments and negative statements from some fans. Absolutely breathtaking, I know it meant a lot to him.
How can anyone be hateful about such pure beauty. Really, you have to feel sorry for such people. They must have small, miserable lives.

Small miserable lives and minds, my first ever comment six years ago on a series called ‘Outlander’ I received a hate message from a complete stranger, I could have ignored it but I was so upset and in shock I challenged the perpetrator and explained my situation and comment which was personal to my health and still is, I received an immediate apology but the damage was done! Some people speak before they think unfortunately, it hasn’t prevented me commenting six years on, and I have received some wonderful messages from kind hearted people, some of which are now my close friends, I consider myself most fortunate, this performance from these professional young men is the best I have ever seen personally! “👌”
Well said! Next year we need a drag queen! Courtney Act did an amazing job on the Australian version! It’s wonderful to seeing them normalising same sex couples on the show. So inspirational for a younger LGBTQ community. I wish there would have been this sort of representation on the

@@ryzardt Yes, and it's normalisation that we need, not just empty token gestures. We need to see our society reflected in all its variety. I think the way Strictly have done it this year has been commendable. I just hope John and Johannes remain in the competition til the end (and win) and don't fall victim to covid like last year's Nicola and Katya.

This moved me more than ANY other strictly pro routine. I was sobbing by the end. A mixture of the strings, the music, the choreography and the fact that FINALLY you decided that having 2 men as the leads in love... which was long overdue but at least you did it eventually. I should have been typing this 15 years ago but hey ho. In a way, it was worth the wait. Stunning. Thank you.

@@gordonwardracingtoenglish3124 When he died, my sister and I inherited his property. We actually had to regift it all to his boyfriend, who he'd lived with for over 20 years. Yes, he died intestate, but the property should have automatically gone to his partner. He worked as manager at a school outfitter's, so he would have lost his job if he'd come out.

This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen and I grew up with the Bolshoi. The music, the choreography, everything was sublime. But the most exquisite is Johannes and Kai together in what can only be described as a celebration of human spirit. Bravo!
Nice to see proper ballroom group dances again rather than theatre.
Plus it's nice to remember you can dance on your own, with opposite sex or with same sex. Dance is dance, a representation of emotion with the body with anyone or without anyone. Enjoy it

@@laughforlife3539 Lillia was my favourite when I was a kid. Then flavia and vincent. I understand that some dances can lend to be made a bit more “modern”. But there’s something much more special when the dances are traditional. Also do you remember when there was 2 dances a week that everyone had to do? Like everyone would have to do either a waltz or cha cha one week, then switch the following week. It was easier to judge couples against each other more fairly
@@JaneMcQ100 yep totally agree again. If there are certain modern songs were you can feel a cha cha fair enough, but mc hammer etc? Where is the Latin 4 and 1 beats in the music it's not just about the feet. Sorry got carried away.

I agree the dances are all over the place now. You can't compare. Couple choice and Charleston are obviously gonna get 9 and tens. Kinda not fair when somebody doing a foxtrot or samba lol
@@laughforlife3539 plus, there are SO many modern Latin artists who’s songs would lend themselves better to the likes of chacha, salsa, samba etc. Case in point, judi’s samba last week to Sean Paul. I loved it

I have grown up watching Strictly, and I have to say this is their best group dance. The choreography was perfect, the little story they had going on...and of course the costumes were stunning. Music was fantastic too. But I was crying by the end because to see this representation on screen, of arguably one of the UKs biggest shows, is something I never thought I'd see. Kai is a great addition to the show; he and Johannes were magical together.
How wonderfully amazing for a child, adolescent or teenager to view this video. Why? It will alleviate stereotypes that have gone on for centuries in our culture. They will see themselves mirrored and represented in real life situations

This means so much to me, I am so choked up seeing Johann dance and the pride in his face. Seeing all the amazing routines that two men can do together 😭. When I competed, women could dance together but not men, there was def a homophobic undercurrent. However, in our club we did lots of same sex dancing for fun and challenge. We only had one guy who was out, but I hope we inadvertently gave a safe space to those who needed it.

I truely believe that Strictly come dancing have become the worlds fav dancing program, in the last season they took a very big risk with two men dancing together, I think this was the best thing they ever did, they have bought dancing into this century with a bang, well done everyone, I love the show even more now and cannot wait to see what you bring next.
