I am now in tears. After having watched this video, I was reminded of my sweet Down Syndrome son, Bryce. It has been almost 7 years since his passing, at the age of 22. He was very loving and my wife and I miss him dearly. He was not able to talk, walk on his own, or interact with others very much. But, we enjoyed him immensely and considered it a privilege to have had him in our home. My heart goes out to the mother and rest of the family for loving and caring for him. My wife and I hope to see our angel again on the other side soon.

I have low muscle tone and hypermobile joints (unrelated to Down syndrome) and it didn't really affect me when I danced flamenco. I think I would only struggle with something like breakdancing or pole dancing, or if I had to lift other dancers
Not only is he good and you see that it's his passion. But also the thought that he doesn't let anything get in his way and he follows it is fantastic. Take a lesson out this people, no matter what syndrome of other problems you have, follow your dream.
It doesn't really work like that. Heard of Ehler Danlos Syndrome? Where your joints dislocate every few minutes? Try dancing with that. I did, for 21 years, until it was too painful, until I couldn't even make a cup of tea, let alone dance. Don't preach lessons to disabled people.
@@vermilliongecko dude i have an illness as well that makes just living already difficult. Im not saying you should dance but there is always hope you can achieve some of your dreams and yes sometimes you need to change them up a bit. Forgot to add GREAT JOB MOMMY! you're a Superwoman! He's not only talented he has an outstanding charisma he's well mannered incredibly smart and funny too! ♥️ 👑
Good in this sense transcends dance complexity. This isnt just about dancing, codings not just about 0s and 1s, talking isnt just about intelligence. Ya see humans are interesting creatures, we have a prefrontal cortex that orders priorities, and for the average person we do not only care about 1 thing, we care about many. And truly i tell you there is something to be gained for everyone by putting love as the top priority. That is whats really "good"
Did he win? This video didn’t even say whether he made it any further in the competition. Not that he wasn’t already a winner in people’s hearts after this performance ... I am in awe of his courage because at 50, I’m still terrified of talking in front of a group, etc. And it was truly heartwarming to see how much he loves dancing, and how the audience responded to his exuberance and joy!
Rubee - you need to remember that dancing doesn’t come natural or easy to someone like him. That’s why it’s so amazing that he was as good as he was. Just because he isn’t as ‘flexible’ as the other contestants doesn’t mean he isn’t as good. He’s amazing in his own way, he’s in a league of his own.
Its immensely difficult for people with Down's to be coordinated and have good balance, let alone dance with agility and flexibility like that. Truly incredible.
@@DVSPDC it's a genetic condition, and it can affect physical features like the eyes and tongue. Usually with down syndrome, they'll have slanted eyes and poor vision as well as a thickened tongue. It's just part of the symptoms.
It’s a possible physical characteristic, but each person with Down Syndrome is unique. My dance students have very different physical attributes. One student has hyper extension and great coordination. Another student is less coordinated but more expressive and in tune to the music. I love their passion.
Unfortunately hank, there are lonely bitter people out there with not an ounce of soul or talent in their miserable lives, this lad was brilliant and his light will always shine

I do not usually watch these things. And when I do, I very seldom comment. That said.... It is exceptionally special when a "special needs" or "disabled" contestant comes to the front to reach for the stars. Whether it is the "Lost Voice Guy" or an amputee dancer or, as in this case, the "Extra Chromosome Kid", they are ALL inspiring. Especially when we recall that it wasn't that long ago when we simply locked these people away behind bleak walls as if they were animals. Win or lose, I say Well done young man. Well done indeed.
@WadeInnRoad I see what your doing here... you’re another of those being offended on behalf of others. Regardless of the condition, we know what we mean and are not being offensive so please stop trying to bully us into feeling bad for allegedly saying the wrong thing
What can I say. I loved watching this and reading the beautiful comments supporting Andrew. As a parent of a beautiful young lady with Down's Syndrome things like this just melt my heart. I have always thought that “extra chromosome” is more about what it takes away. It takes away prejudice, hate, fear, distrust, envy, pride, and, in its wake, leaves love, compassion, and acceptance. We should all be so lucky as to have that extra chromosome.

Wow. The friendship between Tom and Andrew is brilliant. Inspiring.
The way he will love his mom throughout his life, a normal child will never.. God took his normalcy and filled it with love .. for everyone
Neha Sharma that‘s beautiful
@@abdk1995 Thanks dear but his performance was so beautiful that this came out of my heart straightaway. Being a mother, I can really feel what his mom was feeling at that moment when her child achieved something that too with something as challenging as this syndrome. God bless them :)

Yes the mere fact that she supports him doesn't hinder him baby him. Sometimes we protect our babies especially if your child is special needs we are super attached. I'm so attached to my son. Anything he feels I feel. When he gets older I'll have to let him go gradually. Her supporting him is beautiful

“ I’m a real balanced boy” made me giggle so much he brings a smile just seeing how much joy and passion he has for dancing.
Awesome..God bless you Andrew

I started crying before he even started dancing- he's just such a pure, sweet boy and he doesn't let anyone bring him down due to his disabilities.

He hasn't got a disability. Others people's views are the only disability. People just need to elevate their minds and grow up more.
@@Roestradd No, he is disabled. There is no shame in being disabled, it's not a bad word.
When given the right support and environment, everyone can thrive beyond imagination. Andrew is a testament to that.
This was beautiful! It shows how the arts can connect us all! As a mother, I can’t image the immense pride his mom must feel. ❤

I woke up this morning upset with life, stressed about bills and situations that have affected me during this rough time that we all are going through right now and somehow this video was in my feed and God called me to watch this. Im so happy that I did. This made me realize how much I as well as many of us take for granted, and Idk the last time where I genuinely smiled or felt the joy that Andrew showed in this video. It sucks but it tells me that I have a lot of inner work to do because no matter what goes on in life, I'm still here, able-bodied, healthy, and blessed. I pray God blesses Andrew with nothing but pure love, joy, and happiness! 💕🙏🏾
So pleased that Andrew helped you, take care xxx
I'm going through rough situation at work with ppl who misjudge and have hurt me by watching this video it made me realize I dont have to prove myself to anybody just be positive, this made me cry. I have an autistic boy who I love with my heart.
Keep ur head up. Better times will come. The bad times are to make our stronger. Sometimes its a very long time. But if you keep fighting and standing up you will finally win en find happiness im sure. God bless you

Mama!!! You are the best. You have been there for Andrew! Job well done
When you think about the physical effects Down syndrome has, including low muscle tone, he’s incredible.
I have low muscle tone and hypermobile joints (unrelated to Down syndrome) and it didn't really affect me when I danced flamenco. I think I would only struggle with something like breakdancing or pole dancing, or if I had to lift other dancers
My thoughts exactly! He also wears a hearing aide so his compensation regarding balance and spinning are just WOW!!!!!

There was a young girl having that same ilness as you and she went to a special gym, and she can do more things now. ( ofc she is young) so yes i can say that being stubborn and following your dreams can do wonders no matter what.
Wasn’t expecting the emotions that came flooding out of me when he started dancing!! 😭 Life is beautiful!!

Only people without soul in their heart and compassion can dislike this ...
Yeah totally agree
I was thinking the exact same thing!😄
It's quite unfair for others. Yeah he's good but this is completely unfair considering his condition.
I neither liked it nor disliked it, but a lot of people have told I have no soul and empathy cuz I am a bad person
Forgot to add GREAT JOB MOMMY! you're a Superwoman! He's not only talented he has an outstanding charisma he's well mannered incredibly smart and funny too! ♥️ 👑
Very true, he wouldn't be where he is if his Mum hadn't seen his potential and helped him go places that encouraged all that passion and energy!
So expressive, straight from the heart. No canned moves. Never accept limitations put on you by the "experts."
For those saying he won just because of his disability, did we not watch the same video. He's good, REALLY good and definitely earned it
@Hemp Slayer true however if he didn't have a disability I believe he would have won tbh
HILARIOUS ! 😂
Yeah it's pretty cool. I've always wondered how comes people with down syndrome always look the same?
@@DVSPDC it's a genetic condition, and it can affect physical features like the eyes and tongue. Usually with down syndrome, they'll have slanted eyes and poor vision as well as a thickened tongue. It's just part of the symptoms.
It’s a possible physical characteristic, but each person with Down Syndrome is unique. My dance students have very different physical attributes. One student has hyper extension and great coordination. Another student is less coordinated but more expressive and in tune to the music. I love their passion.
His syndrome is very mild. That said, he is a very talented dancer regardless of his Trisomy 21!
In a world filled with such ugliness, this was such a beautiful event to see! This young man & his Mum are truly amazing!

What a beautiful comment Trina Holman and I think it's safe to say that this performance moved a lot of people including myself.
Put the person first, not the condition. Someone with ____.
They don’t let their label define them, and either should you. 🙏🏽

@@WadeInnRoad nice thought but doesn't really work like that with this type of thing .

Even without "The Story" he did a Great Job! I was amazed when he did handstands - then when he did the Splits - Wow! Total Amazement!!!!! Way to go Andrew! ! ! ! ! ! !
@@pamelakate560 I believe people dislike video because people with disability are struggle. Audience people would like to watch professional dancers, they do not want to watch people with disability. Are used to work in adult daycare for 20 years. We have quite a few people with down syndrome who can do extraordinary acts. Most of the people do not want to acknowledge that these people exist. For the people who are ignorant in the world do not want to emerge themselves into reality. These people would not want to see “ struggle “ it on the stage. My son has a disability most people would rather stay away. I would not think of anyone who would wanna pay money for his beautiful music playing.
The way he responds to music, the variety of steps and the style he puts into it, his flexibility- all great! To not lose it when the doors opened could have been really hard too.
This is how good hearts come together....we, in our British culture fundamentally desire love, harmony and peace and will always welcome anyone to our shores who respects us and joins us ❤
