Using torps against the Fubuki also has one use that people usually forget; they give the Fubuki driver one more thing to worry about. It's an added distraction. Torps can be used in other roles than just doing targeted damage. Denying ground (water? sea?) and limiting movement is one, distraction is another. Specially in a lower tier games where the reloads are relatively fast.

The thing about Japanese "U" is that it is in most cases shortened to the point of almost non existence. That being said if you were saying syllable after syllable - you would pronounce it. And how much it's shortened also depends on specific dialect.
Yes. It really depends. Akatsuki typed out in Roman letters has would make it seem like the "TZSU" phonetic pronunciation would be correct (A-KAT-TZUE-KEY) but a native speaker would most certainly sound like they are saying AHH-KATSu-KEE because of which syllable is stressed. If you want to hear a Japanese speaker pronounce it, seach TH-cam for "the Akatsuki gundam first launch" and listen to how it is pronounced at 1:50.
@@tar5us452 Anime tends to be in the Tokyo standard dialect. Yeah it's one of those things that when you study the language, you kind of get a natural feel for when to fully annunciate it and when to muddle over it. In my experience, the general rule with Japanese (specifically the Tokyo/standard dialect) is follow the path of least resistance. If it feels easier to say by half-dropping the "u", don't fully annunciate it and you'll sound like a native speaker more often than not.
Easy fix for Subs. If you have 2ndaries, as soon as the sub shows, you can target it with them. The 2ndaries will open fire as soon as they can hit it. No worries. Also if you are close in when the enemy sub surfaces, stay there. It's bloody hard to shoot a ship with torps if you are sitting on the ship that is trying to fire them.
Not enough people take advantage of the torpedo arming distance. Back when I could take Atago/Takao out and still have fun, we used to do that thing where we would draw the enemy into a ram and dodge at the last moment for a torpedo strike. Only reasons I got away with it as much as I did was because I would dodge just enough the enemy fish wouldn't activate before pulling back and shooting mine.
That strategy only ever worked for me once, and that was when I was in a secondary build Bismarck. It also took an excessive amount of time and more of my health than I was comfortable losing. Even with your "easy fix," subs take way too much effort to kill. They're actually harder to fight than carriers.
I'll argue the Sims is also a good T7 destroyer based on its combination of speed, rudder shift, range, turret rotation, and DPM. It can struggle at bottom tier but is a monster when middle or top.

Thank you Jingles for pointing out the utter frustration with subs being in the game now. We all feel it. I have almost come to the point where I don't really want to play the game anymore, and I've played the game (off and on) since late 2015. Ok, break's over, back to the salt mine.
Honestly that wasn’t too bad, the smoke timers were questionable. Blocking vision of the sub at the beginning, smoking as targets went behind an island, and in range of a radar cruiser. However if the team didn’t grab that cap when you were chasing down the sub it more than likely would have been a loss. The point where he went after the u-69 sub reminds me of the battle of Midway where a lone Japanese destroyer "Arashi" spends a few hours hunting USS Nautilus, though in this instance, he didn't help throw the battle by accidentally leading US SBDs to his carrier.
I can't blame the Arashi for that one, you get told to sink a sub and then rejoin, you do your job because you are far down the totem pole of command ya know?
@@Sorain1 I don't know if there is surviving documentation of whether it was ordered, or they decided to try and hunt the sub after they saw it taking shots on the fleet. I think only the recent "Midway" movie made that distinction, Battle 360 of the History Channel indicated Arashi decided on its own, and was told to catch up later. Though I don't think the Japanese fleet blamed them for the disaster. I think there was more documentation on the indecisiveness of the fleet commander Nagumo, and the valiant efforts of the doomed American torpedo squadrons that were the main cause. Though to stay in the area and risk the Hiryu after the other 3 losses, instead of retreating in caution with what was left of the air wing were the main failures of the Japanese.

To be fair, regarding that fien.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nystagmusrst torp hit, that fish was running hot *straight* and normal when he blipped his throttle. It was only when the guidance kicked in the trop bent in that the acceleration made it possible for the fish to bite him. If the torpedo hadn't been homing, the acceleration would have been fine.
One HAS to be the weeb here: Though I LOVE that you "leave out the U" in Akatsuki I advise further: The name seems to have two translations the Destroyer was also called "Dawn", But "Dawn" translates to "Yoake" in Japanese. So I wonder... Because Akatsuki seems to be derived from two words: Aka & Ts(u)ki - Red Moon. So it seems to me you can pronounce it as one word, or two words. Also the next ship you could learn is "Fubuki" = Snowstorm. The correct pronunciation would be to stress the first(!) syllable, so: FUbuki Funny enough, most Japanese words stress the first syllable, just as the T10 Japanese BB is the YAmato. Blyska, Vauquelin and Mahan are my favorite T7 DDs, although Akatsuki plays fairly well also.
No good Tier VII Destroyers!?!?! Jervis says, "Am I a joke to you?"
Jingles? Why do you think smoke screens are always angry? Why, just last week, I saw a very, chill smokescreen! It was almost a sedate smoke screen! Cheers!
I am getting antsy when I see ruin launch torpedoes in direction of the friendly Mogami
Loved the video @The Mighty Jingles! Can't wait for the next video man! How are things going in Jurassic World Evolution 2? Got any Gallimimuses yet?
I had to do a triple-take when you said Akatsuki, I'm already so conditioned to the long U
Hurray, Jingles pronounces the name of something correctly!!!! Akatsuki (Ah-Kah-T-suh-Key)
(Secombe): Who says we Germans have no sense of humor?
(Milligan): Just about everyone.

🦃Happy day after Thanksgiving (here in the US). Hope everyone had a good one and ate lots of good stuff. Jingles, love your work and commentary.
Acktually jingles, the lightning can gets its concealment down to 5.5km with the mod and captain skill
the pronounciation of Gneisenau is easy. the g is kinda half-silent. it supports the n while also being a half-sound itself
Thanks Jingles.
One HAS to be the weeb here: Though I LOVE that you "leave out the U" in Akatsuki I advise further: The name seems to have two translations the Destroyer was also called "Dawn",
But "Dawn" translates to "Yoake" in Japanese.
So I wonder... Because Akatsuki seems to be derived from two words: Aka & Ts(u)ki - Red Moon.
So it seems to me you can pronounce it as one word, or two words.
Also the next ship you could learn is "Fubuki" = Snowstorm. The correct pronunciation would be to stress the first(!) syllable, so: FUbuki
Funny enough, most Japanese words stress the first syllable, just as the T10 Japanese BB is the YAmato.
(NOT ToMAto, erm, YaMAto).
Fair winds and calm seas o7
There's different dialects and you will always be wrong, gaijin.
Have you never heard of the HMCS Haida, HMS Jervis, Gadjah Mada, all GOOD T7 DD's.
Air Detection of the Akatsuki is 2.7km and AA range is 5.8km.
Haida is awesome. Only Tier VII DD I bothered to keep.
Hasn't Haida been removed from sale now though? But yes, Haida and Jervis are utter monsters and until I hit Jervis, I'd been a bit meh on the RN DD line, after Jervis, it's become one of my favourite lines. Not reached Gadjah Mada, but I presume, given what I know of RN DDs, that she will be a Jervis with Deepwaters?
@@deaks25 Gadjah Mada is great, monstrous gun power and 360 turrets allows you to beat most DDs 1v1 and the deepwaters are excellent for bigger ships. Probably the best Pan Asian DD.
I'm glad you mentioned Jervis and Haida, both fantastic T7 DDs and my favourites at the tier.
really solid dd play.
Allhough I never smoke up, when i have torps in the water, except when i WANT them to change course (you know-the good ol' "HERE i am!! turn to get all ur guns at me and then eat all my loving torps"-trick)-but that sometimes works and sometimes not, so i guess its fair either way.
regarding german humour:
How many Germans do you need to screw in a light bulb?
- only ONE!
Germans are efficient and not very funny.
i absolutely love that joke^^
While my ex-wife's mother, uncle and grandparents were German, I cannot ever remember them laughing.
Ahhhhhh another Critingles with Jingles
*looks at concealment on Akatsuki, hears Jingles state the concealment is better than the Lightning*
Jingles, don't change.
