@vortex nation, I have the rifle, a stash of Remington ammo, and the dies. If you want to do a video or play around with it, I'll help you out with that.
Vortex…Please take this offer! Would LOVE to see it. Maybe there would be enough interest that Rem would re-start, or sell to someone who would be willing to take the risk.
I had found ammo and looked into a rifle for it but the cost of the rifle had put me off it. I was a little late to it it seemed. I do wish I'd bought the ammo now, it was sub $1 a round.
These podcast are gold!! The 30 RAR shoots a 110vmax at 3100!!!!! This cartridge would obviously survive today you are way correct boys. Absolutely bravo for this episode!
I remember when the .30 Remington AR first came out. I remember it was used on an Aoudad hunt in Texas for a hunting show and I instantly wanted one. The problem was I couldn’t find the rifle, ammo, or dies to get started with. I ended up instead with the 6.5 Grendel and I’m happy I did.
Mark hit the nail on the head with the “ back to the future reference “. There’s definitely a hole in the market that makes a lot of sense with something like this cartridge. Love the cartridge talks keep them coming.
@ 30 cal projectiles that weigh 125 grains at 2800 out of an ar 15 pattern. I don’t know of any factory offerings that compete. If there is something I’m definitely interested. Happy hunting.
After learning a bit more, this cartridge makes a lot of sense. Today, there are several cartridges that are somewhat close in performance that have crowded the market but it seems like the best one never caught on.
In 2007 the Freedom Group attempted to sell the hunting public a lightweight and handy AR-15 that hit like a 308! This was a combined project of Remington, DPMS, and Barnes Bullets. After 3 years it was deemed a failure and discontinued. The upper had to be widened to fit an AR-10 bolt and doesn't fit flush but hangs over the lower receiver! It feeds from the left side of a bastard 4 round magazine of which only 1 came per rifle. Ammo was 123gr UMC for target practice, 125gr Premier Accu Tip for deer, 125gr Hog Hammer and 150gr core lokt for thicker skin animals. Beautiful rifle wrapped in Realtree camo with a fluted 20" barrel. Once in a blue moon Remington will load the 150gr ammo and Natchez will have it in stock but it sells quickly.
Only time you see this cartridge these days is if you are bored or accidentally stumble across it in a reloading manual. I remember watching 30 RAR AR's & Ammo flying off shelves during the first big gun/ammo ban scare back in 2008. It was insane. After that, I never saw those rifles or that caliber for sale again. I forgot about it until this vid popped. 😁
I was in a friend's reloading and gunsmithing room just last week and saw a set of RCBS dies for 30 Remington AR, talked to him after I saw this video and he said it was a fine cartridge until the components ran out. Then in like 2014, somebody came along and found out he had brass and an ar upper for it and gave him an offer he couldn't refuse, regretted it since but he said if it came back out, he'd get another one in a heartbeat.
In Finland we used to have this lovely cartridge called 7x33 Sako. It was chambered for Sako L46 after WW2. Its basically 9mm case elongated and necked down to 7mm. It was mainly used for capricaille, grouse and other small animals. Supposed to be very accurate, but quite low velocity 750m/s ish. But It would make a great PPW caliber nowdays.
My brother has a buddy with a 30 RAR and loves it, hunts with it and always says it’s one of the best cartridges in the ar15 platform, a local shop here knows he has one and is always scouring the internet for ammo for him, and quite regularly has a box in stock, I would build one but because of ammo scarcity I don’t, but Hornady of your listening !!! I agree let’s resurrect the 30RAR!!!
SUPER Interesting video guys. I had never heard of said cartridge. You know what I HAVE heard of ? The .358win ! And BOY are we, (your collective fan base) just dying to hear the Electrifying episode on Cartridge Talk , telling us All About It !! jmp
The 358win is the greatest woods cartridge ever devised. Anything in N/A 300 and under and it’s a hammer. The only cartridge I like more is 350 rem mag.
@@andyeighttre I sort of have a dream of having a safe full of nothing but 35 cals. A 9mm pistol, nice .357 revolver, race gun in .38 super, woods gun in .358 win, an M1 bored out for .35 Whelen, a double in 9.3x74r, etc etc. 35 cal could really cover almost anything, especially if some more modern, higher BC bullets came out.
Like someone else mentioned, I also have a Remington R15 in 30 RAR and a bunch of factory ammo and brass. Wish we had known you were finally going to do a talk on this because I would have at least sent you some ammo to have on hand. This is a kick butt cartridge and absolutely slays deer and pigs!
I always listen to your podcasts and never watched them until this week. I've had a nasty fever since Christmas Eve, and I'm really enjoying watching your content. Cartridge Talks and Spaghetti Shootouts (among your other excellent episodes) are some of my favorite to tune into. Your podcast is very entertaining and my favorite by far for the entertainment and knowledge. PS. Please keep doing Spaghetti Shootouts!
Thanks for this episode! This is why I went with the 300 Hamr. It’s as close as I could get and it’s not really close. Remington really needs to bring this back!!!
That one's interesting since it's the parent case for all the Creedmoor cartridges. It's what got Hornady really going in terms of successful center fires, but never took off in its original form. Necking up 6.5 Creedmoor would likely work for making brass.
@ yeah it’s odd that it’s offspring are doing way better than it ever did. I’ve always been a 308 guy, so that’s partly why I gave up on it, that and the availability.
30 TC was definitely .308 done better, but it could never overcome .308's ubiquity and logistics. When Remington dropped the ball with .260 Rem, Hornady seized the market opportunity with one of the most successful cartridge launches in history.
When they did all the engineering and production for it, they kinda one-upped themselves too soon with the DPMS GII. Remington & DPMS belonged to Freedom Group at the time, so Remington did all the design work and testing on 30 RAR, while DPMS was doing their clean sheet work on the GII. GII was a small frame 308 that takes standard SR-25 mags.
Yeah I started looking it up when they mentioned how big of a lead balloon it was and I had to do a double take at the ballistics. It's actually pretty nice and I would like to build an ar for the cartridge if it was an option. Even a bolt gun on like the howa mini action could be pretty freakin cool.
@@Chabrinklo6.5The mini action bolt gun… WAY cool, especially because you could load it hotter than 55kpsi and take advantage of a short 20” barrel and light recoil. For cost effective energy on target though it’s hard to beat existing options like .300 ham’r, .308, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC, even 6.5 CM.
@@edwardhoward4708 Somebody should bring it back but do away with the proprietary bs with the rim. Normal .284 Winchester brass trimmed to length and necked to .308, though I think they did that because it's too high pressure for 450 Bushmaster ar bolts. It probably wouldn't be too hard to wildcat though, and I imagine someone who knows how to do that isn't going to make that kind of mistake.
Now THIS is a wonderful “lead balloon” cartridge talk. The *only* place you guys could find selling it was basically “Pssst… buddy, have I got a deal for you!” This thing makes 6.8 SPC look like a blueprint for a successful cartridge 😜 And both actually ended up doing what they’re supposed to do. Seth is frantically calling co-workers at Hornady on the Sunday between Christmas and New Years because of you guys! P.S. 338 ARC was a deliberate (and deserved) kick in Kevin Brittingham’s ballz.
I think you guys missed out on having a 300 Ham'r cartridge on the table for comparison. From my 18" Wilson Combat barrel, it pushes a 130gr Speer hot-cor to 2470fps, 110gr nosler varmageddon to 2738fps.
I'm a big fan of the HAM'R, but there's really no performance comparison.. .30 RAR has a case capacity of 44gr (could probably stretch it to 45gr), where as the max I've ever gotten HAM'R brass to was 30.4gr. (that's .002" over trim length, .002" bump, WIN brass). I have a HAM'R load in my 24" barrel that will touch .243 levels of power.. But the RAR can almost run with .308. You're definitely gaining magazine capacity, ease of firearm conversion, and free brass/cheaper reloading with the HAM'R.
@@Sidekick_Snowman They should have done that instead of the 338. Let the 6.8blk have that market. It's kind of a niche cartridge with limited use anyway. The 30 ARC would be a much more practical cartridge.
Yep. I like the idea of a 338 subs, but I don't want to buy a 338 can. And 300blk just doesn't do it for me. I think 30 arc would have been a better play. Though I'm also wondering if they're cooking up a modernized lever action cartridge.
Remington has to be the most dysfunctional company in history. They have botched more amazing cartridges than seems possible. They single handily brought forth the two best cartridges for the AR-15 at the time and botched them both. The 6.8mm SPC, botched the chamber design and dropped it like a hot potato for the .30 RAR which was incredible in an AR-15 and then didn’t support it either. The wildcats that could have been made from the .30 RAR and its bolt head in the AR for hunting would have been phenomenal. Remington botched the .280, 6mm Remington, 6.5 Rem Mag, .350 Rem Mag, 8mm Rem Mag, 6.8mm SPC, .30 RAR, .260, .35 Whelen, and the list goes on… All of these cartridges had better performance than anything around at the time of their introduction and Remington always found a way to screw jt up or not support it.
It seems that Hornady chases after military favor. But if this 41 minute long 10 minute talk speaks to them... a 30 rARC just might exist in the future
A 30 Cal Grendel (30 ARX) has been around for a long time. From a 20", it spits the 125gr at 2500fps. 30 RAR fires the same bullet at 2800fps from a 22" AR-15. The RAR would really make sense in 6.5mm and .277" as well.
@@seth094978 7mm was done in Grendel, called 7mm Valkyrie (before Federal ever did the 224 Valkyrie). Problem with 7mm Grendel and RAR is COL limits you to 120gr basically, which is not where 7mm shines and doesn’t do anything that Grendel doesn’t already do, other than increased frontal area slap on animals. The 90-130gr .277 bullets will fit the RAR case and still fit AR-15 COL without needing a new receiver set. Hunters wouldn’t notice the difference within 200yds vs the 300 RAR though, just more marketing angles for Remington if they wanted to play in the modern cartridge/AR-15 space. Not sure who even owns them now.
That one came and went so quick, you'd miss it if you blinked. With that bolt diameter, I wonder how long the bolt lugs would last. It was marketed to deer hunters in a time when very few hunters thought about hunting with an AR platform. Good geek out session, thank you.
This cartridge is so close to being the perfect 30 cal cartridge for deer hunting in Illinois. The case OAL is a little over the 1.400” maximum. Otherwise, it checks all the boxes. A rebirth/slight redesign of the RAR, or 30 ARC type round based off of a necked down 338 ARC would be the best option for a reasonably flat shooting 300 yard centerfire gun there.
So many thoughts running.... I built a 300 Whisper AR in 2000. The 30 RAR was made for Remington at the DPMS plant, it had a proprietory bolt head and extension as well as handguard. Much like the hybrid CMMG. Folks were running 6BR in AR's with modified bolts since you had to shave the carry handle off an A2 upper and graft on a pic rail, bolts failed all the time because they were so thinly machined. Great Stuff again Guys
Fresh out of High school I learned about the .30 Remington AR, by the time I went to buy my first AR in 2009 I had already heard Whispers of the 300 and lack of interest in the 30 RAR. I settled with a standard .223/5.56 while waiting to see which one was going to win over.. I then moved onto large frame ARs, holding out whilst all of my friends gobbled up 300blks.. In 2019 I learned about the 300 HAM'R and now have 3 (2 ARs and 1 Bolt). RAR is still a very respectable cartridge, with many great merits. Hats off to those that designed and bought/built one when it was easy. Too often do crummy cartridges get pushed so hard to survive, while some of the greats slip away into obscurity. RIP RAR.
I did some googling in the .30 gremlin and it resulted in a prompt for the .30ARX a .30 Grendel. Are these cartridges that you guys will cover eventually? As I think the overlap is incredible.
I understand you can make brass from the 450 Bush master, although it's rebated 308 WIN rim size is slightly smaller. I've always felt they should've based it on the 50AE case, or the 50 beowolf case.
30 Remington AR is fantastic , I had a barrel made for my sig cross so I could use it for Illini’s deer hunting , had to form Brass from 450 bushmaster and trimmed the case to 1.4 inches . Shoots a 155 Tipped match king 2,575 fps. Good enough for 500 yard kills. Not sure if it’s legal or not … but it checks most of the box’s Other than it doesn’t leave the factory at 1.4”
When i worked at a range there was a guy with 2 of these, he bought all of the .30 RAR ammo that was in the state for like $30/ box when Academy accidentally ordered some
I’m running just about 2300 from my 18” 416R 6.5 grendel from Alexander arms 129 SST so 2800 is smokin with a 125gr 30cal. Marks right. This would be a hit with my generation mid to late 30’s gas gun enthusiasts. I’m getting 2860 barely from my 79gr (yes 79gr) in a 22” bolt 5.56. Granted TMK 77gr are pushing 2900 from same rifle. But a 30 RAR 2800fps gas gun? I’m in sign me up.
I agree with every point Ryan made. Remington was in the middle of being screwed by Cerberus, and Remington already had a solid track record of not marketing or supporting their cartridges well enough. But this one was novel, hit a great performance envelope and was made for small frame ARs. Wish it had made it, but the market just wasn’t ready yet and Remington couldn’t overpower industry trends at that time. I remember magazine ads in the mid 2000’s where Remington was manufacturing ARs in all camo chambered for .30 RAR. The nostalgia is real.
You are talking about the .30 Remington-AR or 7x39 Remington AR cartridge, if you look on Wikipedia, you will find it, and all its dimensions . The only loading i know of for it with data is the 125gr at 2800fps. I think it would be an awesome cartridge . I talked to my Gun smith about it a few years ago . But I got sidetracked building a 25 Nosler based off the 26 Nosler to push the heavier bullets like the 140 , 145gr Black hole bullets and 156 & 163gr wildcat bullets . Again, look on Wikipedia, you will find everything you're looking for with the .30 Remington AR / 7x39 Remington AR cartridge. Hope this helps you guys out . God bless you and your family.God bless america 🇺🇸🇨🇱 🇺🇲 🇨🇱 🇺🇲🇨🇱🇺🇲🇨🇱.
Timing is everything. All those things you mentioned. People bought standard AR-15 platform and chambering because "gun grabbers". The .492 bolt face vs the standard in class of .473. If I were to make one today brass would made from 450 Bushmaster or 284 Win which would be a smaller rim than the original design. With some good coming from that. .473 range bolt face is standard. If made from 284 "higher" pressures are probably "safer" since the pressure standard is higher than the Bushmaster. I don't think I have "time" to "get round to it" but it would be fun. If a gas gun, all the 450 parts should just work.
Have you guys covered 338 ARC? I'm thinking about doing a suppressor build on the new CMMG dissent coming out in that round. Its that or 300 blk, not sure yet.
I remember a camo remington AR in 30 RAR at Walmart... It was a powerful round for the AR especially at the time just not known or popular. I really wanted it. It's what got me to love the 6.5 grendel. And what makes me wait on new calibers to see if they will stick around or not.
A couple years ago I was at my FFL guy picking up a gun and a another customer came in with a case of it and sold it to him. First time I heard of it. I was impressed with the supposed ballistics. He said he really liked his.
I remember seeing a Remington R-15 in 30 RAR at Dicks back in the day. It was a good-looking gun in mossy oak or realtree. I would have gotten it if i wasn't a broke college kid!
People are still trying to do this. 30ARX is out there, people have played with 30 Grendel, etc. It still makes sense, the problem is that it has to do something better than 6.5G, 6ARC, etc in the AR platform to pick up steam. I am curious how these stood up over time as someone that has killed a 6.5G bolt before. Those had to be some thin walls for 30RAR. But I think you are right about a bolt gun application, it would have been a neat option.
Very nice discussion. If I were to pin the failure of 30RAR on any one thing, it would be the incompetence of Remington marketing. I played with it way back then and there were a few problems. Factory ammo did not quite get to the speed Remington claimed (lots of Remington marketing was "well it works on a round cow in vacuum" type). Subsonic was not going to work since 1-10" twist does not stabilize 220gr 30cal bullets especially well. Remington announce the cartridge in 2008, but it did not hit the shelves until 2010. During that time period, AAC got 300BLK through SAAMI and Remington bought AAC (in 2009) and top brass completely lost interest in 30RAR.
DPMS was working on the GII and introduced it in 2013 if I recall. They were both under Freedom Group at the time. 30 RAR would make a great parent case for a 270 and 6.5mm versions for hunters too, though the 30 cal will have more slap.
It was too proprietary at the time. Just build a 30BR, easy to form brass from 6mmBR Lapua or Norma cases. Use an AR10 bolt head and barrel extension. Wilson Combat was building a hybrid AR15 that used the larger bolts and extensions for their 375 Socom and 458 Ham'r, shouldn't be that hard. 30BR will give those ballistics. I remember Huntington's in Oroville before they closed had bags of 30RAR brass, almost bought it just to have. Always thought Remington screwed up when they didn't reintroduce the XP100 handgun in the 30RAR when this cartridge came out.
IMO, the politics was not the issue. In 2008, US hunters just did not consider the AR15 to be a hunting rifle. Remember, Obama was president from 2009 until 2017, and the 300 Blackout and other AR cartridges really took off in that era. Remington blew the launch and just did not push the cartridge very hard. If they kept pushing for a couple years, they would have gotten to the time when AR15's were starting to be considered "modern hunting rifles".
Im a handloader.... and i would love to get into this ctg. Never heard of this caliber before. How has another company not reintroduced this with a different name.
The .30 caliber is actually quite common, though only for the last 120yrs. Goofy head size and expensive to produce is why dumped if, I listened correctly.
I am still stuck on the 212 Bore Rider... So when you brought up 300blk (one of my favorites), i was thinking that would be weird and possibly cool. But 125gr Makers are my go to for Deer... this would be awesome
6.5 Grendel seems to give the .30 RAR a run for its money. Comparing the best factory loads for each, they start out in a similar position - the Grendel pushes a 123gr bullet at 2600 fps vs the .30’s 125gr at 2800 fps. Although the .30 has more muzzle energy, the high BC Grendel outperforms the .30 beyond 250 yards with less drop, more retained energy, etc. The Grendel is also more readily available and cheaper. The only advantage I see of the .30 is better energy inside of 200 yards. However, the .450 Bushmaster (which uses the same rim diameter/bolt head) crushes the .30 RAR inside this distance - I’d happily pick the .450 if I were looking for devastating energy inside of 200 yards. Bottom line, the .30 RAR didn’t get its due credit, but there are plenty of other calibers out there that offer a better compromise for the average user. As an aside, I’ve taken four deer with loads that are remarkably similar to the .30 RAR. Hornady offers a Custom Lite load that pushes their 125gr SST at 2700 FPS. That’s squarely within .30 RAR territory. I chose this load because it grouped very well with my AR10, and I didn’t feel the need to use a 150 or 168gr .308 bullet on Whitetailed Deer inside of 300 yards. This load performed very well and quickly dispatched all four deer, one at just over 200 yards. If the .30 RAR had been born in the same environment as the ARC family, I’m sure it would have seen greater success.
The only problem with your assessment is that 6.5 G out of an 18” or even 16” is only going to be around 2450 to 2500 FPS…. Nowhere close to 2600. I don’t know anything about the 30 RAR or realistic velocities. I think for hunting with an AR platform, 300 and maybe 400 yards is the max. Deer or similar is closer to 300 with something like a 6.5 G. You don’t need crazy velocity and high BCs. Varmints or predators maybe 400 but that’s a hard shot to make. Here a 6 ARC, 22 ARC, or even 223 of you’re closer like 200 yards. But if you’re killing steel or paper targets then those same varmint or predator rounds shine but with heavier bullets in those cartridges. Again, just my opinions.
@ I couldn’t find much data on that either, but most ballistics data I saw compared a 22” RAR barrel to a 24” Grendel barrel. The data I cited combined Ron Spomer’s Grendel data with some AccurateShooter data. Both would likely suffer performance in a shorter barrel.
@@DaveL9170 I disagree. I believe most hunters prefer a versatile cartridge that will offer reliable performance at all ethical ranges so they can take any ethical shot when presented with the opportunity. The Grendel offers a higher BC bullet, a flatter trajectory, less recoil, less wind deflection, etc. and still delivers 1800 FPE at the muzzle. The RAR does offer 300 FPE more than the Grendel at the muzzle, but that advantage dries up quickly. At its heart, we see the same themes in this comparison as we do when we compare 6.5 Creedmoor to .308 Winchester. Even if I were only looking for performance inside of 100 yards, the RAR would not be at the top of my list - the .450 Bushmaster would be.
@@Steve-bf1uyI agree. Many specialty calibers, like the 30 RAR, are perfect for a narrow window of shots. I feel like TH-cam and similar has made people want a bunch of cool calibers for specific desires. But I agree most people want the most versatile caliber for their hard earned cash. If you lean towards hunting, I think a 6.5 G, for example, covers a wider range of uses. If you’re a varmint guy, maybe that’s a 6 ARC or 223. No disagreement that certain cartridges rule at certain specific conditions. But those narrow window calibers don’t get bought by me, and I think others agree.
The REM 30RAR was the first AR platform rifle I purchased. I have a lot of factory rounds, a ton of brass, and dies. It's killed deer in South Dakota, Indiana, and Kentucky. The velocity printed on the factory box is about 200 fps fast than anything I could hand load. Let me know if you need anything for a comparison or for your collection. I'd trust it completely out to 350 yards. The salesman told me I could form brass from .308 and I believed him. He either lied or was misinformed. The 150 gr Core-lokt works great. the 125s available were Nosler BT's. Both bullets have painted the snow red. I did replace the trigger. The only other change I'd make would be replace the gas block with an adjustable one. I can send you the upper and a couple boxes of ammo if you promise to send the upper and brass back and not laugh at the Redfield (new era) scope on it.
I feel like this would be perfect as a 7mm cartridge. Its just a little under powered for a .30 and ends up using bullets with too low of a BC. 125-150gr 7mm bullets have a more respectable trajectory.
As someone who has 2 JDM Toyota Turbo Diesel swapped 4wds I can appreciate that statement. And I put an engine that comes in the 4Runner (Surf) in other countries into the same K-series Chasis just LHD. Not fun.

At 5:30 You talked about spicier 300blk rounds. Please check out Phantom Defenses 300blk offerings! They do a 300blk 85 gr Maker in their NAS3+ case pushing it velocity to 2920 FPS (16 in. barrel) & 2450 FPS (5.5 in. barrel). They also offer 110 and 120 gr options that are pretty fast!

After learning a bit more, this cartridge makes a lot of sense. Today, there are several cartridges that are somewhat close in performance that have crowded the market but it seems like the best one never caught on.
@Off-target-xy6bx 123 grains starting at 2500, with a much better bc, will reach out better. The Grendel outdoes it, past 300.
Fantastic! Another cartridge, that I now want, that is only slightly more attainable than unicorn farts. Thanks guys!
love the 10min talks that go DEEP!
i think we all watch the same channels
You’re correct on the case. The altered the rim diameter to prevent, chambering of the wrong round.
Also to prevent the use of .450 Bushmaster bolts, which were not up to the task.
The modern equivalent is 300 HAM’R which Wilson Combat created and got SAAMI approved. Just a bit slower because of the “normal” .378 head diameter.
Lead balloon suggestion-30 tc. Had an encore barrel for a little while, but ammo was just so scarce.
With all these lead balloons, I'd love to see cartridge talks about popular wildcats
Learn so much from “cartridge talks” love the show Ryan Jim and mark keep on rolling 🎉!!👍🇺🇸
I've always been fascinated by the 30rar and wondered why it wasn't more popular. Thanks!
Great video and content! Any chance of a 9.3x62/9.3x74r video in the near future?
Add 9.3x64 and 370 Sako and make it a 4 in 1 episode.
@@andyeighttre They already did a 9.3x64 if its the Brenneke you are suggesting.
Let me be VERY clear!! The .30 REM AR is a fantastic round. I have two uppers in this and hundreds of rounds of hunting ammo. Shoots very well.
Do you load for it?
@@edwardhoward4708 nope. Don’t load for it. Buy off internet. Super easy.
@@benbowditch9265 I agree, it's not the equal by a long shot, but it would be a good one to put in line as a comparison.
YES!!! After multiple years of requests, here it is!
A few weeks ago, I sent Remington customer support a message begging them to dig this out of mothballs and start supporting it again.
I really feel like Hornady will release a 30 ARC.
The wildcats that could have been made from
the .30 RAR and its bolt head in the AR for hunting would have been phenomenal.
Remington botched the .280, 6mm Remington, 6.5 Rem Mag, .350 Rem Mag, 8mm Rem Mag, 6.8mm SPC, .30 RAR, .260, .35 Whelen, and the list goes on…
All of these cartridges had better performance than anything around at the time of their introduction and Remington always found a way to screw jt up or not support it.
As a huge AR guy that didn’t get into ar’ s until 13ish .. this is sad .. I love weird ar chambers
You should give 7.62 yahwe a look. It's a weird but interesting one
@@LRRPFco52 I was thinking 7, but 277 would probably be quite decent as well.
Wow another cartridge I hadn't heard of! Sounds like a good one too.
We need that Mark freestyle leaked😂😂😂
Are you guys planing on doing a vid on the 6mm Max? I love to hear your thoughts on it vs 6 Arc.
7.5 Swiss please!
I saw some of this ammo a few weeks ago at a local gun store. They had bought some from an estate sale.
Mark, you let yourself down you let the team down and you let all of us down. Never let an opportunity to entertain us go again. 😂
Not sure if it’s legal or not … but it checks most of the box’s
Other than it doesn’t leave the factory at 1.4”
When i worked at a range there was a guy with 2 of these, he bought all of the .30 RAR ammo that was in the state for like $30/ box when Academy accidentally ordered some
Love the concept of this round
26:16 " I don't know, just say a word normal people say." Thank You Jim! Ryan tries too had to be a wordsmith.

Would love to come across an upper for this one. Even have some ammo i came across and know where there's more ammo possibly for brass.
Great job, gentlemen! Learned alot.
7.62x39 Ackley ?
Love the videos! Could you do one on the Norma Magnums please!
Nice Jimmy Stewart and “It’s a Wonderful Life “ reference.
I've never even heard of this one! Great subject for a cartridge talk!
A couple years ago I was at my FFL guy picking up a gun and a another customer came in with a case of it and sold it to him. First time I heard of it. I was impressed with the supposed ballistics. He said he really liked his.
Jim, I love the ‘It’s a wonderful life’ reference. I hope it was a Christmas miracle of a reference that just got breezed over. 38:46
I remember seeing a Remington R-15 in 30 RAR at Dicks back in the day. It was a good-looking gun in mossy oak or realtree. I would have gotten it if i wasn't a broke college kid!
Y’all ever gonna do 7 saum or did I miss it already?
I almost bought one years ago. Regret that I didn't ever sense. YES let us bring it back please.
What about the .30 TC? Have you guys talked about the .30 TC.
Remington made the rim lager by .020" to prevent it from fitting in. 284win.. coupled proprietary upper bolt . Bolt carrier . barrel extension. Ect
But I think you are right about a bolt gun application, it would have been a neat option.
.450 Bushmaster is hot in Michigan zone 3 shotgun zone now straight wall. Love it! We are all use to 12 gauge slugs and a mans recoil.
Fascinating - I’d never even heard of this one. Coulda been a contender.
I want to see hear the cut after the aluminum canoe comment at 32:46 😂
I had seen two boxes at a small hardware store in Wisconsin, a ways north of you guys.
Mark boardman vortex rap Christmas album when?

30 arc would be awesome.
with new copper alloy bullets this would he a huge hit shootinf 110-125s at +3000fps in an ar15
The .300 Hamr is the new .224 Valkery.
Need a 7.5x55 swiss episode.
You guys have some real interesting stuff over there
IMO, the politics was not the issue.
Want to have a cartridge fail, have Remington launch it! They have had so many great new rounds that were marketed poorly.
I have been looking at the 30 ARX based on 6.5 Grendel case looks really good. Velocities not quite as fast as 30 rar
Now THAT was an intro, Mark!
I've seen ammo for the 30 Remington AR for sale at Dunham's Sports in Wisconsin. I don't remember the cost.
I want to hear more about the diesel conversion you guys we're talking about
I wonder how this stacks up tot he 300 hamr. I believe the rar is decently more powerful, but the hamr is decently more powerful than the 300 blk.
The lion goes RARRRR, you missed me. This lion is wearing an eye patch and has a peg leg.
Will we ever get a cartridge talk on 257 Weatherby mag? #vortexnationpodcast
@@Steve-bf1uy considering that over 95% of deer are shot at far less than 100 yards I’d say the Grendel loses big time.
That’s what I’m trying to do with the 350 legend I got the 125g hammers going 2600. 2800 for 123g bullet out of an ar is wild.
What if a wildcat made a .30 beowolf to take the place of the 30 rar
It's so lead that I've never heard of it.
Lead balloon suggestion, 7-30 Waters. One of my favorite “obscure” cartridges that’s a great deer cartridge.
