The children have led them into enough danger and it is time an adult took charge. I don’t think he has any intention to hurt or abandon the children. Jod simply understands he needs to take charge now. Great episode! They raised the stakes this week.
I think Jod ‘betraying’ the kids is more him trying to take control of the situation as well as SM-33. The kids don’t understand the level of threat they are dealing with and Jod is trying to protect them the only way he knows how, by being a pirate. He forces a transfer of power, albeit at the risk of killing Fern which he may or may not have done if his hand had been forced. I think that in one of the next episodes Jod is going to recover the kids while also getting his own ‘hallway’ scene as he carves through pirates and bounty hunters.
Merry Christmas! First of all: get well soon, Joey! Royce, you did a great job doing this episode all by yourself. I really enjoyed it! Having a forcewielding pirate in a Star Wars show is something we haven't had yet (I believe). It's quite refreshing. His betrail was a bit shocking, for me. I didn't think it would happen in this episode. I thought that it would be the season finale. I do like that it did happen, because now I'm wondering what's gonna be next? The fact that Wim also stood up in the way he did, show me that he has more courage then I gave him credit for. Can we also acknowledge the fact that the kid wielded a actuall lightsaber? I mean sure, he was goofy and didn't know how to hold it, but he wielded it nonetheless. The design of the lightsaber was also very good looking. I love lightsabers with plated Electrum. In my opinion: it gives it an automatic elegant look. What also would give an elegant look is: a discord server. 😂
What betrayal have we seen, exactly? Jod - the adult - took control of the ship and the damgerous robot in a manner that could never have gone any way other than it did: Fern giving in. She is a child! She is no captain and is a pretender at heart, anyway! We do not know where events would have led had Wim not acted as he did. Let the season play out and we'll see Jod never had bad intentions, in my opinion. Let the season play out for the parents' story lines, also... let it play out over several seasons - why get the kids home quickly? The show predicates on their being gone.
I dont think its meant to be two separate plots in every episode with the parents, its just meant to show that the parents are still trying to do something. And i think they’re showing it in synchronicity with whats happening with the kids, and eventually it will converge. I like thay they show only a little bit of whats happening on at attin so theres still an element of mystery
Jod could have easily just killed Fern; let's keep that in mind. The show made it a point to show us how many times he told her to just yield. Fern needed the push thinking that he was really serious in order to actually need to yield. Why did he do it? Because Fern was incapable of actually asking the correct questions to the Droid just due to her age and lack of understanding of the Galaxy. I think we are going to eventually see some flashbacks to Jod's past and they are going to show him as a Jedi Padawan/Youngling who had to watch his Master die at the hands of the Empire, and joining a Pirate Crew to survive (perhaps even Honda Onaka?) It would be a Guardians of the Galaxy situation... he was small and could get into tight spaces etc..
I'm wondering if ther will be some turn of event's that's gets the kids and Job on the same side again, but no idea what that is. I've been thinking KB's name is just a number or two away from being named like a droid. It's been a fun show I can't wait until next week!
That's an excellent, and very insightful, point you made about how the intro was longer to help catch up people that haven't been watching. It was on Christmas Eve and many people were visiting family and no doubt many being exposed to this show for the first time. Excellent marketing by Disney and excellent insight by you. Liked and subscribed. Not crazy about the parents story but it is very integral to the plot. I'm just glad they are only showing just enough to push the story and spending most of the time with the kids, SM-33 and Jod. Enjoying the pacing of this amazing adventure. Will be a lot of fun to binge it once it's over. Also, to your main point, it was hard for me to see Jod behave the way he did. I was assuming he was already on his redemption arc but we might not actually see it this season, though I thinnk we will see it at the very end of the season. I'm ok if that's not the case. I guess I have no choice really. LOL! Loving this show. I'm completely in the hands of the showrunners. It's so fun! Final thought: I think the showrunners and screenwriters very much understand how characters are developed to be more realistic so we can bond with them. They are taking their time with the story arcs. They move slowly, like how real people behave in real life. These FEEL like kids not sure of themselves but trying to grow. And Jod FEELS like a pirate.
Why do I think Jod is much worse than Brutus right now. ^^’ Also I think them teaming up with Brutus and the Pirates because one they need a ship and two they kinda have something in common now, Kida want to go home and Brutus wants Silvo. Also there is this behind the scenes image of Brutus and he’s in a ship.
The story deliberately whipsaws us between Trust and Don't Trust. When Jude turns his back to the camera, he's having an internal struggle of what to do, and sometimes not even between good& evil, but simply what is the next best thing to do to balance all priorities. He's a good enough actor not to have to act with his face - acting with your back is extremely effective too. .. /2
I have a theory that he could be from At Attin and that his names give some clues to that. 1-the weird double construction of Na Nawood/At Attin. 2-Silvo = of the forest/woods. 3-At Attin is a forest world (wookiepedia) And there is another double-named character we haven't met yet ...
I appreciate that the parents are trickled in. It's unusual but also we don't need it. Their level of realization tends to move with the kids realizations. I feel a few things about Jodi's betrayal: I didn't want it to happen but knew it was coming. He had the information AND the chain of command kept slowing down quick decisions while being chased by pirates. so it was time to be the captain.. THEN he tells 33 to keep them prisoner not abandon them

Growing faster! 👍
I'm curious if we'll get an episode solely focused on the parents & their plot in the near future. I wouldn't mind it tbh! Happy holidays everyone ❄️✨

Wim and the light saber mishap was by far my favorite part and I totally didn't see that coming!
I hope the kids are not all impaled on spikes...
Pacing of the show is telegraphing a season 2

With all the boobytraps how did wim know the trapdoor did not have spikes at the bottom?

Also Jod feels cynical like a padawan left on his own maybe left behind or quit (before order 66). His teachings aren't dark side just cynical
