The issue with these kinds of 'stunt' proposals is that in the end, when the adrenalin and safe feeling someone gets when they realize they are not in danger and are ok that results in them saying yes to a proposal will always leave them in doubt, the other person is also in some ways manipulating their feelings of relief to try and ensure a yes to their proposal. It's a horrible way to try and trick a yes out of someone.
This story did happen on Reddit. But it wasn’t first person and though it was seriously traumatizing, it was not written in this “my heart hurt!” Fanfic kind of way. The original was already horrific. Also, her boyfriend did NOT KNOW how far his friends would go, and they got charged? The boyfriend was not a HUGE dick in the true story.
