I think it's just one od those things that doesn't translate well to outsiders. It's half dance competition half martial arts match. Seriously, they have 3 judges who score you on stuff like takedowns and landing strikes, but there's another two judges who score you based on how creative your performance was, and if your movements were in time with the music
This capoeira match is a friendly one, but a real tournament could knock someone out in a minute. The kicks can be so powerful and the flips could add more momentum but is also a bigger risk of being tripped by a counter-kick. If a real physical tournament exists, at least a few people are injured or unconscious after the fight.
damn they'd have to start wearing gloves on their feet....I was in a school in Bogota colombia, from a guy from minas Gerais. A guy to a kick to the face full force spinning and totally broke his face and dislocated and broke his jaw. It's to this day the most damaging horrible hit I've seen.
Imagine you're flipping upside down to do a kick like Eddy Gordo but ur opponent counter-kick you in the back while you are in the air then you fall off and break your neck.🤔
CAPOEIRA É DANÇA É BAILAÇO É jogo de corpo expressão é malandragem . CAMPEONATO DE CAPOEIR É A MESMA COISA DE FAZE FAZER COPIONATO DE EXUGAR GELO, COLOCA 2 CARAS CADA 1 Com Uma BARRA DE GELO E UMA TOALHA 😂😂😂😂😂 CAPOEIRA NUNCA VAI SER LUTA É muito mais......
@@floresto what, according to your experience, is effective about capoeira? It’s a high risk medium reward martial art that would only be effective against someone who is both untrained and weaker than you.
@@beanstinson2462 Anderson Silva, Thiago Santos, Jose Aldo, Junior Dos Santos and Michel Pereira all have their base discipline as Capoeira. All 5 have been top ranked fighters in the biggest mma organization, 4 have challenged for mma world titles, 3 have become ufc champions, 2 of them are considered one of if not the greatest in their respective divisions( Anderson Silva at middleweight and Jose Aldo at featherweight) and many Capoeira techniques have become staples of mma like the hand stand round house (idk the actual name of the technique, I came to this video to educate myself). Point is its clearly a martial arts that has some merit to it unlike Aikido otherwise nobody would attempt to use these moves in mma
As a martial art, yes these can be deadly effective. But as a sport / competition...I don't understand what to look at.

Look at who performed better and who outread the opponent. You can easily see 158 in the starting match was outstepping his opponent, yes?
How you move if someone tries to take you down how you get out of that conflict. Capoeira is all about dialogue
is the objective if capoiera to not attack your opponent 🤔
Capoeira in a competition just doesn't seem right to me. I wouldn't pay to see this, atleast make it physical or something
this is more to arts than martial arts event i think
Hey dipshit have stopped and searched what capoeira is

Belo trabalho, mas, com todo respeito, arbitragem precisa ter mais agilidade. Evento desse porte não pode sofrer demora por causa da arbitragem.
