Great video. Great explanation on the 0-1/4 throttle pilot jet. Since the bike was running it was easy to understand what you were talking about.

The Needle, and clip position affects more of the range of throttle positions and RPM range than any other circuit in the carburetor. Your air screw might be able to take the fuel rich gargle off idle out by adding more air. But l wouldn't worry about it. When the Midrange hits, it will be better when rich off the bottom.

Good video, you are pretty spot on about what you said. Fuel lean side does not make more power, it just spools up faster and freely. Slightly fuel rich makes more torque and doesn't spool up as fast. Everything else you said was correct.

Sick! You can tell it likes more fuel up top! Pulls like crazy
The 22s are different stock pilot is 75 and main is 160 I’m in Texas too I ended up going 72 on pilot (that’s the only other factory jet I have) because it was real gargly but was great maybe too lean up top and went 162 on main.
Reading the manual it said to add a turn out on the air screw so I did and so far it’s been pretty good. Maybe a tad rich on bottom but that’s 👌
    Great video
I always go back to your yz125 rebuild video because I’m still working on my 05 I have the cases split now I just need to get a bearing puller and make sure I know which way they go

the 22 yz125 has keihin carb vs mikuni on the older bikes. thats probably why the jet size numbers are so different but im not sure because i dont know that much about carbs

You should try jd jetting kit. It tells you to add a 50 pilot and 170 main. It comes with a aftermarket needle that you have to put on the 4 ring.
It runs good. Bottom end is crazy touchy. Not sure if it’s healthy for the engine since it’s super lean. I’m still doing research on that.

my 2024 can with extra jets and needles, but they say 162, 165 & 185, not same numbers as you reference, what does that mean?

Great video! I have a 2021 yz125x. Know nothing, literally, about jetting. If I put a turbinecore 2 arrestor/silencer on it I’m assuming that will have better airflow. Does that mean I should go a little richer on both the pilot and main? Signed, clueless :-)

    • @joeydirt420

From what ive heard it doesnt effect it enough to need to jet differently

  • @isofly28

Would it be bad to use a 50 pilot? And a 170 main jet.
Not sure what would be too lean on pilot

I don't know if I should change out the jetting or not on my rm125, before I ran klotz super techniplate oil with 20% castor, had alot of spooge but never bogged or hesitated, I switched to klotz r50 oil whitch has a higher flash point and it still has the same spooge, but now it seems harder to clear out the bike, as in it gets gummed up alot easier. At high rpms it runs great, but if it let it run low at all it gums up super quick

My 2023 is running rich on the bottom from stock settings and even ridding it very hard I’m still getting oil on silencer.
I’ve just changed pilot from the 75 to a 72 and dropped the needle I position to the top clip. Guna see how that works. I’m leaving main jet alone but may drop the pilot to a 70 if it still seems rich on the bottom end

Good video but fuel screw n needles matter for perfection. Most dirt bikes come lean on the slow n ritch on the main from factory.

  • @legenderekonwheels
    @legenderekonwheels ปีที่แล้ว +1

I am shocked to hear you say you've never adjusted needle clip position! That's the most important circuit because thats where we spend most of our riding time (between 1/4 to 3/4 throttle)
In this video you are riding around in your needle circuit except at the end when hitting the track.
I thought your pilot sounded perfect from the beginning but was thinking you could with a drop in needle position by raising the clip up one. And you should only ever change one circuit at a time. That way you can specifically pinpoint what your changes did to your performance.
You know that you have the correct pilot when you have the smooth, crisp "pickup" and response you're looking for with the air screw position at as close to 1.5 turns out as possible.
From the sound of your bike, I suggest going back to bigger pilot, drop needle clip one, and your main sounded fine both ways.
Any time your bike blubbers in this video, that can be fixed with needle clip position.

Good video, Yes, its time consuming, but a good jetted bike for your area, temp, and humidity runs so good. I have the same bike and ride middle Georgia, I went down to a 34 pilot and raised the clip on the needle by one to lower the needle a little. It still is a little rich off the bottom, but I agree with you, better a little rich, than to lean.
