My FAVORITE rock voice!! It's been decades since I heard this song. "Fire and Water" is another great Free song! How in the world can this man not be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?!!!
Reactions,
Liar!
The quintessential rock vocalist Mr Paul Rodgers
I don't know why it's been decades since you heard Wishing Well, but I do agree with what you said about him not being in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
But the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is pretty much a joke anymore with who their putting in there now. All the rap crap that has nothing to do with rock. And performers like Dolly Parton. Nothing against Dolly but she has nothing to do with rock. She even said she shouldn't of been nominated.
There's countless others to. Mean while no Bad Company, Grand Funk, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat & Tears, Uriah Heep, Johnny & Edgar Winter Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Montrose & that list goes on & on.
Apparently, Rogers refused the induction for specific reasons.
One of the best rocks tracks ever! Nuff sed!
The song is about Paul Kossof's drug problem. Paul is the lead guitarist. He died very young.
Yep.
Did not know that! I did wonder, back in the day.
Andy Frasier on bass, Paul Kossoff guitar ❤️ may they RIP!!
Andy is not on here. He left after the previous album. Bass is Tetsu Yamauchi.
@@mojobag01 thank you for that info!! 😊
@mojobag01 koss was ill on a lot off the track s hope he was on this classic
Finally!! Wishing Well. One of the coolest songs ever. Paul's voice here is a nice precursor to his vocal stylings in Bad Company, which was next up in his career. My favorite line: 'Everybody has a dream'..
“ Fire And Water”, “ Be My Friend”, “ The Stealer”, “ Walk In My Shadow”, “ Little Bit Of Love”. You can’t go wrong with Free.
Their "My Brother Jake" was another top 5 hit in the UK. You already listened to their 1 US hit.
One of the best voices in rock. Great track.
Blackfoot does a killer cover of this one. Remember Train Train?
You beat me to it
Right .I knew somebody did it. I used to listen to that album in 78 or 79 ..
Yes they did!
Don't forget gary Moore his version is killer
Steve Perry and Paul Rogers! Golden rock voices of my teen years. So blessed.
Great reaction Jay and Amber.
It's about a close friendship and one person knowing that the other person is going to stay even though they keep saying that they want to leave, that person's desire for something more, wishing for something more but at the same time knowing that what they're in is good. Feet in the Wishing Well relates to the temptation to walk away from something good in the hope of finding something better.
In addtion to Paul Rodgers, the extraordinary drummer Simon Kirke also made the trip from Free to Bad Company, and he was a very important element to both bands. It's sad that he's always overlooked when people talk about great rock drummers. He was one of the very best.
Love in a peaceful world 🌍 best line in the song , love this song❤
Rest In Peace Paul Francis Kossoff (14 September 1950 - 19 March 1976) the English blues guitarist best known as the co-founder and guitarist for the rock band Free.
We covered this song in a rock band my brother and I had in the early 70s in the Houston area. The reaction to it was always amazing. Free was an awesome group.
I used to frequent a rock nightclub called Cleopatra's and this song was what brings back my memories more than any other. I can feel the heavy beat, smell the dubious scents, taste the crap beer and see my mates when I listen to this. You knew exactly where you were. Honestly, I never thought about what it meant.
16 year old me (now mid 60s) came to life. I danced to this so many times at discos, in the day. Lovely little trip down memory lane!
Free was only around a couple of years and what an impact they were!! Paul Rodgers is the best voice in rock!!
Band Free were around for 5 years, 1968 - 1973
Six studio albums
One of the greatest blues'rock band's EVER
He covered it again with Bad Co. and it's much better than this one imo.
Both Mr Plant and Mr Rodgers for me
Wow great song Paul Rodgers voice was and always will be a powerful voice in Rock&Roll..
This is a rocker! Look for the group, The Firm, with Paul Rodgers as lead vocal and Jimmy Page on guitar. The video for their "Satisfaction Guaranteed" is killer. PS, I read where one of the big wigs in R&R Hall of Fame does not like Paul and that's why the man is not yet in there. Of course, Paul said "R&R does not belong in a museum." Truth. Great reaction. . Hmmm. Just not satisfied with what she has. She's still fishing. And he's out. Thanks guys. Needed the jams kicked out today! ❤❤❤
my fav Paul Rodgers/Free song. So substantial. Way to go guys....
Great Song!! Paul Rodgers , one of thr greatest Rock voices !!
I saw FREE back in 1970, and have been a fan ever since. If you want to hear what is possibly the best base solo ever, by Andy Fraser, who was only 16 at the time, then listen to Mr.Big, from the album Fire and Water. You will not be disappointed .
Quality stuff at last ! To think that Paul Rogers sounded like that , at such a young age.
he was the oldest in the band
This was at the end of Free, wind back 4-5 years when they released Tons of Sobs (1968), and you can hear what he sounded like when he was really young.
Paul Rogers also played in a band with Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin fame. The band was called "The Firm", and they had a hit called "Radioactive". The Bass player was a guy nmed Tony Franklin, and he was crazy good too.
Plus Chris Slade on drums.
woooohooo, underappreciated song
"The Firm"....Paul Rodgers was also the singer of this band,...Jimmy Page, guitarist, drummer Chris Slade, and bassist Tony Franklin. Gotta check them out... "Satisfaction Guaranteed"..."Radioactive"....and my fave "Midnight Moonlight". I think you will enjoy!
My first taste of this song was a Gary Moore cover!!!
That guy knew how to cover a song and show it all the respect it deserves.
I'd love for you to get back to Gary Moore soon, Out in the Fields or Parisienne Walkways please.
Love your channel ❤️
Seriously serious rock ! from the band Free🔥
I'm glad you're wearing a t shirt that celebrates one of the most important rock albums in music history "Ziggy Stardust".
My favorite Free track, every garage band band back in the day had a version of this one in their repertoire. Paul Rodgers had the best rock voice ever. ✌️
One of my all time favourite 🎉
My Favorite Free song ❤
Oh man, what a performance, what a song. Now you gotta hear some Cream - White Room, or Sunshine of Your Love.
Paul Rodgers has still got an amazing voice. He was front man for Queen years later.Another brill song by free is "My brother Jake" I named my son Jake after this song.WoW what a fab English band.👍🇬🇧
We just discovered Fire And Water, live. This band is really making us happy with their amazing work. We're glad you're checking out some more from these guys. Enjoy!
This one is definitely one of my favourite songs from the early 70s. Remember hearing it on the radio as a little girl. Paul Rodgers has an amazing rock voice! Funny how I used to think they were American, up to recently 😂 Nope, British of course!
Paul Rodgers - what a voice
Thanks for this one , I love this song.
Paul Rogers with Jimmy Page in the supergroup, The Firm, as well. "Tear Down The Walls", Satisfaction "Guaranteed", "Radioactive", Spirit Of Love
I think this is my favorite song of Paul singing...
My favourite song from the early 70's! You never get tired listening to this!
You may recognize that lead singer's voice. It is Paul Rogers, who later was front man for 'Bad Company'
Free were such a complete rock band.
Paul Rodgers great rock voice!
Simon Kirke's thumping drums!
Paul Kosoff's screaming guitar!
Andy Fraser's great bass!
Paul Kossoff & Andy Fraser have passed away.
Paul Kossoff died really young from a drugs overdose.
Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke were part of Bad Company, and still work together.
Notice that Paul Rodgers was later the vocalist for the band, "Bad Company", so you many recognize the similarity if you have reacted to a Bad Company tune. This was was one of my favorite songs.
That's a pleasant surprise, thank you both very much! Always loved this song.
Paul
Oh yes !!! I requested this a long time ago, its my No 1 70's Rock song ❤
This is my absolute favourite song by Free! Thank you for yesterdays reaction of "How can I ease the pain" by Lisa Fischer. Her voice is absolutely amazing!
i love this song so much
Andy Fraser is the bass player. FREE has some of the best bass line ever.
Bassist Andy Fraser was a great songwriter. In addition to the songs he wrote with this band he wrote Every Kinda People that was a huge hit for Robert Palmer.
Best song of Free and great as always Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company).
So glad you did this. Absolute classic. This song and album saw Free ho from an amped-up SoulRock Band to being a full-fledged Hard Rock band. You can definitely hear this Is the beginning of the Bad Company sound.
Paul Rodgers has a brilliant presence in Concert. The Guitarist Paul Kossoff died in 1976 was a brilliant Guitarist. You should play ‘My Brother Jake’ a great track!
When Free recorded their first album, Tons of Sobs, Koss was 19, the other 3, 17. 17, and 16, so they were pretty young, starting.
I remember 1969 at the Isle Of Wight Festival , enjoying Free performing "The Hunter" .Good times
❤❤❤❤❤ my favourite song and band in the world…means so much to me…Easy On My Soul is up there too…well…most of their songs are
Ok...now YOU guys are introducing ME to the cool songs of the past!! 😊 Great song!! Paul Rodgers: absolutely top 5 all-time rock vocalist arguably TOP
This song is either unconsciously (or consciously) a message from Paul Rodgers to his guitarist and friend Paul Kossoff, who was in the midst of a terrible downward spiral from substance abuse at the time. Free first broke up in 1971, which was devastating to Koss and set him off on a path of self-destruction. They actually reformed in 1972 in an effort to pull Koss out of his quagmire, but it was past the point of no return by then. This album was the last that Free made. Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke went on to greater heights with Bad Company, and Paul Kossoff sadly passed away in 1976 at the age of 26. He was never able to overcome his demons. Back in those days there wasn't as well established understanding and support systems for addiction like there is today.
It is said that this song is about Paul Kossoff's (guitar player) spiraling and debilitating drug addiction and its effect on their friendship and the state of the band. He was so bad that he only made some of the recording sessions for this album, so much so, that he didn't even get credited as being part of the band. He pretty much just came in and played licks and solos at this point.
I would highly recommend that you watch or do a reaction to any of the Free Live (Doing Their Thing) TH-cam videos. In 1970 (after their 3rd album) the bass player is 18 years old, guitar 20, singer and drummer 21. That's just flat out amazing.
Paul Rodgers and David Coverdale - two fabulous singers from Middlesbrough in the North East of England.
Heartbreaker is one of my favourite Free songs.
My brother Jake , next please
When you were listing off bands that you have heard including Paul Rodgers, you didn't mention the Firm. In case you haven't been introduced to them, the Firm were a band that included Paul Rodgers teaming up with Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.
Greatest singer EVER
Wow! I haven't heard this since the 70s - Free were so good!
Paul Kossoff had one of the greatest guitar tones, ever. Please do a reaction to Fire and Water; it’s unreal.
Great song, great band, great singer. Paul Rodgers was one of the very best.
One of the best voices in rock!
Play Free when you can. Had the time of my life at one of their concerts!
Another of my favorite tunes. Free will always be one of my all time fave bands. Not only do I really dig their sound, but after I completed boot camp and moved on to infantry training at Camp Pendelton, "All Right Now" was the first song I heard from a snack bar juke box after all those weeks without any music at all. This song came out just three months before I went overseas the first time. I wore out a mix tape I put together with Free, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Moody Blues and the Doobie Brothers. Sitting in a hooch in Northeastern Thailand, this is the music that got me through that tour.
For Paul Rodgers vocals and an astounding bass showcase by Andy Fraser, check out "Mr Big" from the album "Free Live".
Oh yes !! The definition of my youth ❤️❤️
Love it the kids like our stuff they know good music when they hear it🤘🎶🎸🥁🎤
Hi Jay and Amber, Free are a British rock band, The lead singer is Paul Rodgers, after Free he formed another great rock band called Bad Company, He also became lead singer with Queen for a while, Paul Rodgers is still performing today at the age of 73 😄😄
Probably my favourite Free song...
.
It's great to see a reaction to this, I don't think I've seen anyone else do it, thank you. This song and Free's 'Alright Now' are two of the best rock songs ever. Paul has a wonderful voice and the band always serve the music. Blessings
(AKA : williamjclinton1 ! ) Another fine choice my young squires of a great vocal performance from the great Paul Rodgers . A blast from a more recent past is the version of this song by Terence Trent D'Arby .Lots of young blues players on the scene too like Gary Clark jr. , Christone "Kingfish" Ingram ,Robert Randolph ,Robert Cray and a fantastic black woman Bluegrass artist Rhiannon Givens More Chris Stapleton and Nightwish too Rock On
Any song by The Firm is great Paul, AND Mr. Page. Not to mention Tony Thompson and his fretless bass and Chris Slade. 😊 Seagull by Bad Company is my favorite Paul vocal. Ty for reaction!
Radio Caroline played Free all the time. So under-rated.
Takes me back to the dark smoky clubs. Love it
My all time favourite song.
Simon Kirke Free's drummer was also in Bad Company' along with Paul Rodgers. But a great song that's been covered by many bands.
Paul Rodgers was also in a band with Jimmy Page called The Firm that has some great songs.
He was also in a band with Kenny Jones from the Faces & the Who. That band was called the Law. I think they only put out one album, but again some great songs.
Here's some songs from each of those bands you might want to check out.
From Free
Fire & Water
Come Together in The Morning
The Stealer
From Bad Company'
Run With The Pack
Movin' On
Seagull
Good Lovin' Gone Bad
Burnin' Sky
From the Firm
All The Kings Horses
Live In Peace
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Closer
Radioactive
From the Law
Laying Down The Law
Stone Cold
Miss You In A Heartbeat ( which is a Def Leppard cover)
He also has some great solo stuff to
Chasing Shadows
Love Rains
I Just Want To Make Love To You ( with Jeff Beck which is a cover made famous by Foghat but totally different)
This was from a great album he did that was a tribute to Muddy Waters called Muddy Waters Blues with some great guitarist. Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, Brian May, Steve Miller, Gary Moore, Neal Schon, Slash & more. One of the finest singers in rock ever.
The Voice 👏
Free- Little Bit of Love
Great voice in this rock song!👍🎶🎵🎶👏👏👏♥️♥️
You should definitely check out Paul Rodgers song “Muddy Water Blues”. It’s an amazing song, and you are amazing hosts! ❤️🇨🇦
Lead singer Paul Rodgers sang with queen for a while after Freddies sad death .There huge hit alright now is great 😊
I remember Paul Rodgers he used to live in the next street to where I lived plus we used to have coffee with Chris Rea as his families cafe
Free were also a very young band - most if not all in their teens.
Check out another group with Rogers as lead vocal, The Firm. It has a lead guitarist that you might know... Jimmy Page. I think he did some other stuff too.😊
My favourite Free song and it takes me back to shaking the long hair from side to side back in the early seventies. Great music from a great era. Thanks both very much. Could I ask if you get the chance try Black Sabath ‘Wizard’. Very different but a special sound.
I truly believe that any reaction of a Free , Bad co. Song Should be of a " live " performance to get the full range of the voice of Paul Rodgers and the feeling & emotions he generates when performing
Paul Rogers in an 80s band with Jimmy Page called The Firm, had a number one hit with Radioactive. That was after Free, and Bad Company, but before he was the lead singer of Queen. Yeah, Paul Rogers is kind of a big deal.
Another vote for "Fire and Water" but LIVE!!
Paul Rogers also was in a band with Jimmy Page called the Firm. Check out the song Radioactive
As well as being easy on the eye, Paul Rogers has a great voice. It's been some time since I heard this one, and I have to say, it's just so good. ❤🎸
Was born in the UK in 58 so experienced some great bands as they first came to prominence, seemed at the time great songs were released on a weekly basis,I love the way your channel reminds everyone how good those bands were and how good the music was, also I tend to read the comments before watching your reactions so can in some cases get a whole new realisation of what the lyrics are all about, keep up the great work, still waiting for you to do Florence and the machine.
Paul Rogers has a fantastic voice. Check out Free's performance of All Right Now at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival. Rogers and Simon Kirk the drummer went on to form Bad Company with Mick Ralphs on guitar and the late Boz Burrell on bass.
I just love when you get into a solid bass line.
The next surely has to be 'Train in Vain', guys! I guarantee you will love it. 😄😄
