    This guy really said that the light bar missing modularity with a detachable USB removes the burden of assembling it. He said this gives ease of use and you don't have to assemble anything. I'm without words.

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, saves you a step. Some cheaper light bars have a really unintuive setup of attaching the mount and bar, so it's appreciated

      This is an example of choice support bias. Look it up it's pretty interesting. This whole video seems to be a case study in it.
      Choice support bias, also known as 'post-putchase rationalization" is a psychological phenomenon where after making a choice that may have been difficult (such as spending $200+ on a desk lamp that integrates with your computer screen) a person will 'retroactively ascribe positive attributes to an option one has selected and/or to demote the forgone options.'
      That last part was from Wikipedia, as is this example: "If a person chooses option A instead of option B, they are likely to ignore or downplay the faults of option A while amplifying or ascribing new negative faults to option B. Conversely, they are also likely to notice and amplify the advantages of option A and not notice or de-emphasize those of option B."
      You know, like emphasizing the fact that an integrated USB cable shaves a little under 3 seconds off the assembly time. Something that should otherwise be irrelevant considering the miniscule time involved and the $200+ price point. It's honestly the most cut and dry example of choice support bias as 2 extra seconds of setup time would never factor into the decision to make a purchase like that to a perspective purchaser, however to someone post purchase it seems like a relevant talking point.
      Even this comment and response embodies the dichotomy of pre decision and post decision psychology.
      Check out the Wikipedia article for this before my comment gets deleted by the uploader lol. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choice-supportive_bias

    Got a question on the remote. Is it made of the kind of plastic that melts and becomes rubberised after some time in a warm, humid environment? I've been using the Xiaomi light bar and its remote does that after some time and its now sticky all over. So every time I touch it, whether to turn the light on or off or to adjust the brightness and/or colour, my fingers become sticky. I hate these kinds of plastic.

    I had the screenbar plus - the model below this and it has the wired controller. I am tall and there was no way to get my monitor at the correct height of eye level and not have the light shine into my eyes without adjusting it to the most aggressive angle that highlights all the specs of dust and even the surround black trim under the panel on my IPS monitor. At tbe beginning I noticed you had the monitor elevated higher up…is it possible to put the top of the monitor eye level and not have the light shine in your eyes but have the line cut off say at your chest?

    • @Pacomanx1
      @Pacomanx1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm thinking about buying this product but was worried about this problem already, and I'm not tall but actually short. Just check 4:44, he has the monitor ridiculously low so of course he doesn't see the light nor hits the screen, but it has to be exactly centered at your eye level so you can see it at a 90º angle sitting straight. I guess I will look for another model with a smaller angle of light.

    Be aware if you have a Aluminum Monitor such as the Samsung G9. The BenQ Light slides and doesn't sit properly. It slides and leans forward over the screen. I am looking into ways so that it doesn't slide. I have put a piece of painters tape where the foam piece on the back. It seems to be holding. Will see what happens in the future as the monitor warms up and the light adhesive loosens. Its a great light. This is the only thing that I have had problems with.

    Nice video! However, I have seen many other video on youtube showing the Quntis Monitor Light bar side by side in comparison with the BenQ (standard version). There is no difference except for the slightly more premium materiel on the BenQ. I have returned my BenQ for 2 Quntis and I have to say, I'm fully satisfy. I don't regret one bit. It is a third of the price. My wife also really like the light bar on her monitor. I thought it was gimmicky at first but it does help your eyes a lot. I finally bought 4 in total for the whole family :)

    You're wrong about the blue light. Any light is detrimental to sleep. Blue light is really great and is the most potent wavelength for signaling wakefulness in the brain but when you're working past sundown with any light any brighter than a candlelight, no amount of fiddling with settings will practically help you sleep better other than turning down the brightness overall as much as you can, and any light will interfere with sleep performance. If you want to minmax your sleep you should first of all mount your light as low in your environment as possible, having light eminating from the top of your monitor is not as bad as overhead lights but not as potent as a low desk, or even ground lights due to where the light sensitive cells are located in the eye.
    What it can alleviate to however is eye strain or fatigue if you're sitting excessively in front of your monitor especially in low light environments. But it's not a solution to improving sleep. The literature is very clear on this. You basically need to turn of all lights to properly min max it. Just a nerdy fyi. Blue Light is your friend not your enemy.

    • @Dalamain
      @Dalamain ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope blue light is indeed the enemy when it comes to trying to relax in the evenings.

    • @fVNzO
      @fVNzO ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dalamain Yea which is also what i said in that old comment. I responded to the fact that *all light* independent of it's wavelength will still disrupt sleep and you cannot expect your sleep to improve if you only filter away blue light. Blue light IS your friend in all other hours of the day because it helps set your melatonin release the following evening. It's your friend in the start of the day, and your enemy at the end of your day - which goes for all light. Even red light which is less stressful, has to be dim. And for min maxing, should be lower rather than higher in your environment. If you have any further questions, chatgpt can probably expand. frfr

    This product is well designed. However it has its limitations. I have found the light bar is effective depending on your eye to screen distance, & the screen height in relation to your eye height.
    In other words if you sit low to your screen you may be distracted by the light, that otherwise would not illuminate above your screen. Also, the light, even on its lowest setting is almost too bright. All I wish to do is light a keyboard & Wacom tablet, not the whole desk. 60% out of 100% for me.
