    Nice to hear you met up with your mum for the night too, after being so homesick in the last video. Hope it kept you going to the end!

      It really did help so much, bless her. And it helped for the most part, I believe that after this I only really felt homesick in Richmond, but after that I was fine for the rest of the way. :)

    Hi Jennifer, wow what an amazingly beautiful place Burnbanks is, great to see you having somebody to natter with as well. Your poor mum looked terrified of the horse, our daughter is the same although she proclaims they are her favourite animal 😂. Looking forward to seeing your next instalment. Cheers Glyn.

      @Orenjen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Glyn, Burnbanks was stunning, the nearby waterfalls & homemade walkways were a treat. :) Haha bless my mum, that was so funny. She's usually okay with them I think, but one of them just spooked her, she got a bad vibe from it 😂

      Thank you! And absolute best of luck with TGT, it's such a stunning hike, and not a very frequently used one either so more often than not it's nice & quiet :D are you camping or B&Bing?

    My Shap to Orton was different, it rained every step of the way, head down I trod the route thinking of the Climbs and decents I had done and thinking of any left to come along this route.... and Yes you still have a few more hills to climb. Please NOTE I said Hills and NOT Mountains. Tony in Essex

    That abbey was built before humans arrived in my country (NZ). Quite the contrast.

    • @Orenjen
      @Orenjen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So strange to think of it that way!🤯

  • @nicklemming2556
    @nicklemming2556 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Beaulieu Abbey in Hampshire was actually founded later (1203) y Cistercians from Citeaux (the mother house of the order), so Shap isn't the latest abbey to be founded. Bealieu also had daughter houses founded in the 13th and even 14th C too, and wasn't alone in that respect.

    Loving your vids! What do you use to edit/what camera do you use? As someone who's looking to get into making videos, just curious!

    • @Orenjen
      @Orenjen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! And I just use iMovie to edit at the moment nothing too fancy. I use Epidemic Sound for licensed music to use in my videos to keep them monetised (it's about £10 a month?), and the camera I use in these C2C videos (I only bought it a week before this hike!) is the GoPro Hero 11 :) It's quite pricey, but films in 4k and is super tough & resilient. Though all of my older videos filmed pre-May 2023 were filmed with my GoPro Hero 7 white, which is a much more affordable option and a great starter camera. It films up to 1080p so you won't get the 4k quality, but it's a great budget-friendly option if that's what you need. :)

    Another beautiful campsite, Jennifer
    Yeah, occasionally talking with north Americans brings home to me our huge history. The abbey was beautiful even in ruins, but like most of history it was probably built from exploitation of in the form of tithes. So often history is lovely to see but ugly af.
    I know little about horses although I love seeing them about, even though I was bitten by one as a child (me not reading their body language correctly - it was standing apart and didn't want to interact)

    • @Orenjen
      @Orenjen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of human history is ugly for sure. Interesting to see what remains but I can imagine there was a ton of conflict & exploitation. I do love imagining what was happening however many years ago in the place I’m in when I’m travelling, it makes for some interesting imagination!😁

      If you type Coast to Coast Walk Map into your search engine you'll get a good selection. So far Jen has followed a fairly standard route (there are bits were you can take higher more challenging routes but the walk is fairly difficult without trying these out).

    • @Orenjen
      @Orenjen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, yes I used the Hiiker app to follow the route as well as a physical hayvey's Map of the Coast to Coast which can be found online (Amazon etc). I recommend bringing a physical map as well as using a mobile app. :)
