Throwing up and crying. Thank you for the chance to voice Victor Surge, the Victor Frankenstein of our story. This was an honor and an achievement, thank you Alex!
True! His series having the most interesting visuals and editing I ever seen, it's a bummer to heard about the crimes he did in this video bc I'm excited to see from his perspective making it
It's tragic because his series was the one that originally demonstrated that you didn't even need a big group of friends all synchronizing their schedules to do this. You could do it completely by yourself with just an idea, a camera, and a decent handle of After Effects. TT should have been inspirational (WAS inspirational) but instead it became an object lesson in what to never do if your project attracts a young audience
@@TV247dude I sincerely hope I am able to post this comment, I originally found your comment on the latest DarkHarvest00 video but for whatever reason, despite everyone outright saying Tribetwelve and Adam's name, somehow my comment wasn't posted. Anywho enough of the chitchat, if you are interested, there is an official leaked ending of TT that the co creators posted somewhere in reddit, complete with the backstory of Sebastian and how the Admin and Collective came to be in the Tribeverse. By the looks of it, had Adam not screwed up, Tribetwelve was supposed to be the grand interconnected finale for the entire Slenderverse, with a planned cameo and teamup from our beloved Frank Sinatra enthusiast over at EMH. Even though we'll never get to see the proper ending on screen which would've been beautiful since Tribetwelve arguably has the best effects and lore out of the big three, atleast it gives some of us closure to an absolute masterpiece of an ARG. Again I really hope this comment gets posted, extremely frustrating that it somehow got censored I'd link it but TH-cam is infamous for banning links, though fortunately enough it's pretty easy to find, should be the first search result, just type in TribeTwelve ending
@@z-beeblebroxit also had the best lore and effects out of the big three imo, the lore was detailed, yet not too big or convoluted so as to be confusing as EMH, whilst maintaining and even at times surpassing the horror elements and effects found in the original Marble Hornets series. Compared to the rest, TT felt genuine, the acting, the camera quality, the effects, it all felt real, even surpassing Marble Hornets, and I think that's what I'll forever miss regarding TT, the closest thing I found that replicated that feeling of authenticity was the Japanese found footage film Noroi It was the best of the big three and all of them, yet was also the worst due to the incident behind the scenes.

seeing all the faces of these relatively private creators from my childhood like they never left is actually heartwarming. thank you for doing this. much love to everyone involved as well as the fans. missed all of you:)
“hoodie… i’ll give you three guess why 😐” amazing also amazing job with this doc!!! i love seeing all the love and dedication to the last 15 years of story telling ❤️
Really hope one of these episodes in this series addresses Slenderman's contributions to indie horror games. Like, this character along side Amnesia & Happy Wheels basically made Pewdiepie's career. And of course the Slenderman (along with Jeff the Killer) made MrCreepypasta into a household name in the online horror sphere. Like, the many different unfiction series are so incredibly important in the rise of the character, but they're only a part of what helped maintain his popularity for so long.
God this is so nostalgic for me, watching MarbleHornets on my crappy windowsXP computer, doing the trials for HABIT…I really wouldn’t be the person I am today without that community and the friends I made in it. 💜 -Rabbit #81
Ackshually: The SCP Foundation was first established in 2008 after the 4chan post. The following year, the Slenderman would make its first appearance. However, the Slenderman did reach viral popularity before the SCP Foundation.
@@Donny_Double_DipI think they are referring to Adam Rosner as the said creator. The “big 3” series in slenderverse are Marble Hornets, Everymanhybrid, and TribeTwelve.
I find it just so ironic that, as I soon as I started to get back into watching Marble Hornets, Everyman HYBRID, and the character of Slender Man himself, this behemoth of a video of every face I haven’t seen for many years together came out, and it feels rewarding to me.
Can't believe I got to be here during the premiere! Marble Hornets, everymanHybrid, and the entire Slenderverse was such a pivotal moment in my life and introduced me to Nick Nocturne and many other artists. Getting to see it covered in the way it deserves is such a dream come true. Can't wait to see the next part!
Same. It's the entire reason I got into unfiction/analog horror in the first place. This was such a beautiful love letter to the beginnings of a revolutionary modern genre. Can't wait for parts 2 and 3!!
@@soulbitten i'm gonna own the jay plush whenever they arrive if that counts for anything. but let's just say that i've been on a series rewatch and keep going back to tim's MH livestreams and certain entries an unhealthy amount of times :,) no merch right now but will own some eventually!!
There have been a few SlenderMan documentaries over the years and most only tend to cover the tip of the iceberg that being the vlogs, more specifically the big three. So imagine my surprise when the blog side not only gets a mention, but has a whole section dedicated to it and it would have been easy to just cover the big ones and that's it (Seeking Truth, The Tutorial, Dreams in Darkness) but you go even deeper all the way to mentioning the Core Theory, Dimensional Bleeding, Redlight, The Solstice, The Revenants, etc. Bravo, I can definitely say that this is by far the deepest dive into the Slenderverse that's ever been produced. I'm only hoping that it doesn't stop there as both the vlog and blog rabbit holes go even deeper, looking forward to the next instalment.
To think I’m only a 09 baby, who grew up watching all of this stuff with early access to the internet when I for sure shouldn’t have, I wanted to say thank you because in a odd way this gave me and a few of my other friends some closure since everything is over and has been for years. Our phase has ended with a proper ending WE LOVED THIS DOCUMENTARY TYSM❤
honestly the entire concept of the slenderverse has such a specific aesthetic and internet culture to it, its something that just cant be replicated. especially now in present time. it was truly unique and incredible seeing these complex stories with all this complex lore mixed into it being created by these people who had otherwise 0 experience in this field
This guy looks like a rockstar from 1986. That is _not_ intended as an insult; I enjoyed 1986 very much. Right now I'm going back and reading through the "Tome of Slenderotica," a netbook of RPG rules for using The Slender Man in Pathfinder RPG campaigns, put together by online fans. As I was watching this, I thought "Hey, I remember being active a lot on the Slender Man wiki a while ago." So I went and checked... and it was in 2011. _Good God, that was 13 years ago._
I grew up with all the Slenderverse series, way back in middle school, when I first found out I wanted to be a filmmaker. Now I’m a college graduate with a film degree. How time has flown. These web series helped shape my life, they were so important to me. A documentary like this means the world to me. Thank you.
This was an incredible first episode, and I'm so glad I got to be involved. It was so cool seeing how the production team portrayed the blogs, with the Core Theory notebook and the scenes with Redlight. It feels like someone brought our dorky Slender Man fanfic to life with a higher level of production than any of us would've had the skill or budget to do. It's also crazy seeing all the little details and cameos. Comments or blogs from people I recognize, or artifacts of platforms changing, like the broken JPEGs in the "followers" sections of blogs or the SlenderNation TH-cam channel not having any sort of channel avatar. It's really a reminder of how much the web has changed in the past 10-15 years. And of course, thrilled to see that there's someone we're able to credit for Just Another Fool! For so long the author was completely unknown to most of the community, so I'm really glad davflamerock was able to finally provide an answer to that!
Bringing the blogs to life was so much fun and as soon as I got deep into researching them I was like 'there's no way I can resist trying to shoot some of this'. It's just so absurdly cool.
I was one of the first fans, years ago. From series big to small Tim Sutton, was my greatest inspiration to become a writer. I’m.. old now, not as obsessed, but this really makes me smile, and current day fans should adore this.
the EMH formula worked because they established their friendships first. It was so easy to fall in love with them. It made the reveal of their reality so much more devastating. I loved seeing from them 💚💚💚💚
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in creating this documentary. It is absolutely phenomenal, showcasing impressive production quality and thorough research. Watching it feels like revisiting the past 15 years of our beloved community, beautifully capturing the origins of Slenderman and highlighting the incredible contributions of many creators. It's heartwarming to see familiar faces and discover new aspects of the Slenderverse that I never knew existed. As someone who has followed the Slenderverse from its inception, this documentary brought back so many memories. I vividly recall discovering Slenderman through creepypasta threads and being captivated by Marble Hornets. The emotions it stirred in me are profound; it's like reliving a significant part of my life. This documentary goes beyond mere storytelling; it's a heartfelt tribute to the dedication and creativity that have kept our community alive and thriving. For me, it holds immense importance, encapsulating 15 years of creative work - a reunion of fans and creators who have brought this chilling entity to life in such unique and fantastic ways. To the creator: Your deep dives are truly masterful. Your channel deserves much more recognition for the engaging and insightful content you produce. Thank you for pouring your heart into this documentary; it has deeply touched me, and I eagerly await the next episodes. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. This documentary has had such a profound impact on me emotionally; it's almost brought me to tears. I can't thank you enough for creating something that has genuinely enriched my life.
What an amazing documentary. So well-produced and thoroughly researched. (Still a little bizarre to watch a documentary about what my friends were up to over 10 years ago) This is an incredible way to start this series and does a wonderful job illustrating Slender Man’s origin story and highlighting a lot of creators’ works. Looking forward to the after show! (And the next episode!)
I just started this documentary (less than five minutes in) and I am very glad you are going to address the "Slenderman Stabbing". I'm from Wisconsin and that event really scared a lot of people around here. I know you'll do it justice, I just wanted to say thank you in advance for making sure to mention it.
I have been a fan of the slenderverse for so long, and it has inspired so much of my artwork personally and im now even writing a novel about my own monster that i evolved from this content and the Slenderman myth. I am so excited to finish Under the Crow's Song..
I would've loved to see Rikki Audax's perspective in the documentary As well, It sucks That the creator of Tribetwelve had to do the terrible things he did.
This was fantastic, Alex. I’m floored by your editing-and each bookended segment looks so great. The work you put into this is unreal. The blog section had my jaw on the floor. My relationship with blogs was always shoddy at best-watched way more than I read-but there were some DEEP cuts in this doc that I cannot believe were covered, stuff I remember reading at length. You’ve been telling your subjects for months how thorough you were planning on being with this; I -believed-you, and -still- can’t believe the lengths you went and the work you’ve done. Phenomenal, Alex. Thank you for including me in this historical breakdown as it is… needless to say I’m over the moon excited for Part 2, given its subject. Keep making things, folks. 💛
I'm still blown away by those too! They were created by art director, Mariana Acosta, and art assistant Carmen Navarrete! You can find more of Mariana's work here: www.themarianaac.com/
@@alexhera_ Is there downloadable scanned digital versions of these drawings and book pages? Or would there be? Cause I really would want to print those out! They look very atmospheric and stunning!
i was a big participant in the slenderblog scene, unfortunately never got one actually started up until i think closer to the mid of EMH, so when thing had started to slow down a bit for everyone i have such good memories of it, helping craft storylines and participating in theories, then when i actually got a blog going and became a character in it, just let all my creative vibes flow out, i dont know what it was still miss everyone from then, kinda wish we could all just have a nice group chat or whatever just to see how everyones doing in life now that we're all old as shit lmao
I'm Super happy to see that after all these years, Slenderman, and the Slenderverse is still a big thing because of how amazing it was. To the younger generation out there, Continue to keep this fandom strong in years to come. and thank YOU guys for taking the time to make this amazing Documentary! ❤
watching this as a new gen slenderverse creator it is so so inspiring. so many creative and wonderful people in one space 🫶 great video and i am really proud of this community
i watched it 2 times already and i cant even express how grateful and happy i am that you made this documentary. not only for the effort to bring all those great creators back, but to dig deep into all this and compile it into something so greatly and professionally told with its structure. personally, i thought that most of the written blogs were lost media, and it was a huge surprise to hear about them! and, of course, saying that this helped bring my inspiration back would be an understatement. its so uplifting to know that all those people did something so great and fun and scary just because they had an idea, and they developed it, and shared their ideas with each other and made connections and just shared their creativity with the internet. it brings me so much joy and happiness knowing that people could interpret him in all those creative ways, and with this 'early 2010' vibe, it feels so incredibly genuine as well. i think the greatest thing about slenderman as a phenomenon is that he's *ours*, he as an idea belongs to the people, and if someone have enough will to do something great with him, they certainly can. and i just hope that the team and everyone who helped to make this documentary knows that they made me (and i guess a lot of other people) really happy to hear about this faceless freak again. thank you so much for this.❤❤❤
It's a damn shame that TribeTwelve couldn't be mentioned in this. Next to Marble Hornets, in my opinion, it was by far the most compelling of its kind.
I have no idea how you only have 10k subs, my guy. Your deep dives are absolute masterpieces, so well researched and edited and truly enjoyable and engaging to watch. If this series doesn't make your channel blow up, idk what will. Well done, sir.
Gosh, I got into Marble Hornets when I was in 7th Grade, aka 12/13 years old. I used to take notes in this pink journal about it(which were way off). I would be so excited to watch it after school. Then the phase came back when I was 15/16 and then it always came in waves now as a 21 year old. That series was such a huge part of my life and it was so beautifully made. Real shoutout to everyone who worked on it.
Been waiting for a comprehensive history of this, but also great to see so many original creators and guests. Familiar faces, love em all. Great list of essential titles for newcomers and old fans to watch and read, if they missed anything before.
Watching this reminded me of my favorite piece of early Slenderman ephemera, from around the same time everymanHybrid came out: the SPLENDORMAN parody video. This inspired me to go find and watch it again, only for me to discover that it was created by freakin Neil Cicierega, my god that mfer and his crew has done everything haven't they
My autism is going crazy right now. The slenderverse has been a special interest of mine since like 2012. I e watched almost everything on it, read a lot of blogs and I absolutely love this. I love the fandom of the Slenderverse and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. I want to thank Victor surge for creating all of this. He was the one who would make this possible especially with Marble Hornets becoming a thing. I positively love this. ❤
Who else thinks that the slenderverse itself needs to be made into a movie? Take all the best parts and put them all together. Make a sort of documentary/detective story out of it
That would tie it to a movie and a studio and ruin everything that makes it unique and special. The Slender Man is so interesting _because_ it exists an an open source Horror entity that crawled up out of the collective dread of the Internet.
@@AaronLitz Exactly. It's a natural impulse to see this incredible thing and want it "legitimized", but what's important to remember is that this as it is - in the form it existed - that is the MOST legitimate it could ever be. It's not just the cynicism of a production studio that would undermine it, but the very medium of film itself is simply not capable to containing it. Found Footage horror on the big screen isn't the end goal, because Found Footage horror *evolved INTO this.*
they did make a movie, we dont speak about it though it was god awful. i think it just works better as series like this, personally. the flow of the vlog like videos made the suspense and wait for the next video all the better! no set time frame for when each video would be uploaded, no true hint of when, it kept you on your toes! like said in the video, its hard to just film him, he always had breif and extremely distorted cameos. i think heavy cgi would do him a major injustice as majority of the movies now use. i could maybe see one made off the 8 pages game if its done right. but all in all, i think the randomized length/time fram videos just gives it a different kind of atmosphere i dont think a movie could do.
I spent the whole video thinking "Damn, when are they gonna talk about Tribe Twelve", and then I got to 1:15:18. Shit. Yeah. I guess that explains it. Thank you for handling it so concisely and professionally.
I was there, deep in the trenches of it all when it was happening way back. Genuinely had nightmares of The Slender Man from reading and watching so many blogs and series. Slender Man's time in the spotlight has come and gone, and I honestly feel it's better that way. The stories and experiences of the Slendervers, I feel, work best as something someone can stumble across during a 3 AM web surf, something that you feel like you're discovering for the first time and shouldn't be. It's always there, watching, waiting for someone else to dive in.
Alex Hera and everyone else involved in this I just want to say this was absolutely AMAZING. Everyone did such a good job and I just want to congratulate you all on this. Alex Hera you are truly one amazing director and I can’t wait for the other two documentaries to be streamed. Keep up the good work :)
This honestly made my heart so happy, even though I’m much younger than most of these creators and fans, the slenderverse was honestly a childhood staple of mine since I was around 8 years old, I am 15 as of today and I’m absolutely stoked for the next 2 videos 🫶🏻
This the best video i have ever watched I sat here and watched the full thing of a friend of mine, we've been into creepypasta and the slenderverse since we first met Im so happy you made this and even brought in the creators to talk about it Thank you so much Alex!! Please keep up the good work!! Me and my friend will be tuning in for episode two!! :D
What an absolutely astounding first installment of this series!! The creator interviews are incredible, as is the incredibly thorough walkthrough of the beginning of the Slenderverse and the deep dive into the Slenderverse blogs-- I at least am only really familiar with the vlogs, so it was an amazing look into something I barely knew existed. Incredibly high value production, incredibly well-done and thorough-- truly a labor of love. Can't wait for the other two installments!!!

Alex please make a documentary about either how fnaf inspiration was used to make Walten Files, Harmony & Horror, Chimpy Chippa's, and Little Red Transfers or about Paranormal Found Footage films like the Paranormal Activity series and the V/H/S series, you can do both or either or.....
I've been a big fan of Slenderman ever since I was a kid. I remember getting nightmares of Slenderman and watching videos of NightMind talk about EverymanHYBRID (my favorite) on repeat. All of this like you say in your video inspired me to want to make an ARG and become a director/writer. That being said TT before I found out what Adam did used to be my favorite, it inspired me to get into editing and effects and what cool things you could do behind a computer for a video. It's sad to see what he did and how his work can't be talked about because if it did, it would give attention to him which is not ideal. Anyways, cool video 👍, can't wait to watch part 2.
@@culwin It's more a shame that because of his crimes, no one would look at this series the same way again (unless you separate the art from artist like I always do but I respect their choices and they have their own reasons), and the show never got to its conclusion. It was an amazing series and had amazing visual effects for such a small creator (especially at the time and in comparison to the other creators), but now it's all for nothing.
@@troin3925 I thought it was pretty good for awhile, but it definitely went on too long, got too convoluted and kind of boring, and should have ended anyways. But meh, that's me. People can still watch it if they want of course, but I wouldn't recommend the entire thing.

I genuinely don't know what to say other than thank you for creating this series. It will never not baffle me to see that an entire universe created over a decade ago over one forum post still has such a passionate fan base. WILL GRAHAM PFP SPOTTED!!
EALEEE
AGREED.
AYYYYYY HANNIBAL FAN AND SLENDERVERSE FAN THATS SO FUCKING COOOOOLLLLLL!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Such a shame the creator had to tarnish his work, especially since I think it was the most stylistic of the big 3
What’s the big three?
@@Donny_Double_DipI think they are referring to Adam Rosner as the said creator.
The “big 3” series in slenderverse are Marble Hornets, Everymanhybrid, and TribeTwelve.
If you're actually talking about TribeTwelve then you're so right. That shit was AMAZING
@@psychodave1234 Yes! Everyone likes Tribetwelve!
It's a shame he had to talk to underage girls...like brother eugh
My autism is autisming rn. Still mad that my friend group broke up right before we were gonna start our series 🥲
Same with me. My best friend dumped me a week before we were supposed to start filming our series lmao
And now I’m sad for the both of you. I’m sure y’all’s contributions would have been nice 😢
MY HYPERFIXATION WITH MARBLE HORNETS IS GOING FUCKING NUTS I AM SO CLOSE TO RUNNING AROUND MY ROOM
how big is your hyperfixation i own the DVDs and a t-shirt

_Good God, that was 13 years ago._
always a big fan of creators finding out that the fandom's power of wanting to fuck the villain/monster, glad he's embraced it to an extent
That was amazing. Literally cried. Loved Evan acknowledging the habit fuckers and finding it great 10/10
We giving Slenderman 20 dollars with this documentary
NO WIFING IN THE CLUB
This has a seriously 100x better production than any big media documentary I have ever seen. Wow.
My man Chris said it well.
I just started this documentary (less than five minutes in) and I am very glad you are going to address the "Slenderman Stabbing". I'm from Wisconsin and that event really scared a lot of people around here. I know you'll do it justice, I just wanted to say thank you in advance for making sure to mention it.
It will be addressed in the third episode of this series, yes.

I have been a fan of the slenderverse for so long, and it has inspired so much of my artwork personally and im now even writing a novel about my own monster that i evolved from this content and the Slenderman myth. I am so excited to finish Under the Crow's Song..
Seeing my blog on the connections chart at 1:17:19 was a pleasant surprise! I'm flattered I got that mention, thanks for the walk down memory lane!
which one did you write?
Creator of tribe twelve was a huge disappointment its not that hard to not be a total creep, he ruined his own series into the ground
Indeed
This video reminds me of Noah. If that hadn't happened, he would have appeared in this video as well😢
I would've loved to see Rikki Audax's perspective in the documentary As well, It sucks That the creator of Tribetwelve had to do the terrible things he did.

i was a big participant in the slenderblog scene, unfortunately never got one actually started up until i think closer to the mid of EMH, so when thing had started to slow down a bit for everyone
i have such good memories of it, helping craft storylines and participating in theories, then when i actually got a blog going and became a character in it, just let all my creative vibes flow out, i dont know what it was
still miss everyone from then, kinda wish we could all just have a nice group chat or whatever just to see how everyones doing in life now that we're all old as shit lmao
That is sad i wish they could put in it for some reason.
I have no idea how you only have 10k subs, my guy. Your deep dives are absolute masterpieces, so well researched and edited and truly enjoyable and engaging to watch. If this series doesn't make your channel blow up, idk what will. Well done, sir.
Glad to see there's still passion for the big faceless og
Gosh, I got into Marble Hornets when I was in 7th Grade, aka 12/13 years old. I used to take notes in this pink journal about it(which were way off). I would be so excited to watch it after school. Then the phase came back when I was 15/16 and then it always came in waves now as a 21 year old. That series was such a huge part of my life and it was so beautifully made.
Real shoutout to everyone who worked on it.
Been waiting for a comprehensive history of this, but also great to see so many original creators and guests. Familiar faces, love em all. Great list of essential titles for newcomers and old fans to watch and read, if they missed anything before.
it really does feel a bit like a family reunion, doesn't it
Watching this reminded me of my favorite piece of early Slenderman ephemera, from around the same time everymanHybrid came out: the SPLENDORMAN parody video. This inspired me to go find and watch it again, only for me to discover that it was created by freakin Neil Cicierega, my god that mfer and his crew has done everything haven't they
It was actually created by Julie Becker, Neil just helped! More on that in the third episode of this series…
@@alexhera_ Oh cool!
@@AaronLitz true and the movie that already exists isn’t that good
@@AaronLitz Exactly.
I think a series would work better if done right, and have the OG writers on board to stay true to the story.
they did make a movie, we dont speak about it though it was god awful. i think it just works better as series like this, personally. the flow of the vlog like videos made the suspense and wait for the next video all the better! no set time frame for when each video would be uploaded, no true hint of when, it kept you on your toes! like said in the video, its hard to just film him, he always had breif and extremely distorted cameos. i think heavy cgi would do him a major injustice as majority of the movies now use. i could maybe see one made off the 8 pages game if its done right. but all in all, i think the randomized length/time fram videos just gives it a different kind of atmosphere i dont think a movie could do.
I spent the whole video thinking "Damn, when are they gonna talk about Tribe Twelve", and then I got to 1:15:18.
Shit. Yeah. I guess that explains it. Thank you for handling it so concisely and professionally.
Some part of me i wish there talk about it.

"Not participating" is a weird way to say not invited.
Also it's not a shame.
@CREATEBERATEI forgot what he did, but from what I remember it wasn't good
@@culwin It's more a shame that because of his crimes, no one would look at this series the same way again (unless you separate the art from artist like I always do but I respect their choices and they have their own reasons), and the show never got to its conclusion.
