Totally agree. Caught "The Girl Most Likely" on TCM this past weekend.. This is a tuneful, energetic, let's have fun sequence. For one one of RKO's last films, it was of top quality direction and production value. And Jane Powell.
This is the only musical I know of that take place in Orange county Ca. ! The beginning of the film is shot on location on the Balboa Ferry. This number has been copied by many choreographers, its the model for the water dance in MY ONE AND ONLY.

IRONY IS THIS WAS ONE OF JANE POWELL'S BETTER FILMS.....BUT MUSICALS WERE GOING OUT AT THIS TIME....
Pure Golden Era Broadway choreography and brassy big finish. Strong dancers really take off aout 2:25.

So pleased that this is now on DVD courtesy of Warner Archive! Happy memories of renting this on Super 8mm in mid 1970's. :-)
