    mod 1: get a car

  • @kitofam
    @kitofam 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good top 5. I’m picking up my 08 wrx here soon and this video really helped out man. You got a new sub fosho

  • @ukwildcatsify
    @ukwildcatsify 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I have 2011 wrx and my first 4 mods were 1) process west intercooler, AEM cold air intake, access port 3 and adjustable bov. I seen a huge improvement with the psi on the turbo.

  • @natebulb
    @natebulb 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    08 wrx hatch. intake i put in a k n in the stock airbox and drilled holes in the bottom coz there is a hole for cold air underneath the box. intake sound was louder but not pod filter quality

  • @beaterbagcar
    @beaterbagcar 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    agree. sway bar makes such a difference

  • @MrMichaelProductions
    @MrMichaelProductions 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Kids don’t hurt your boxers!! Make sure you are on the cobb sf tune BEFORE you install an intake! With an intake and no tune u will confuse your ecu and thus over or underboost. It is a ticking time bomb otherwise!

  • @darkrashan
    @darkrashan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    My personal opinion, Cobb AP should be the first mod done to any wrx or sti. I have a 2010 hatch sti and the AP fixed everything I had to complain about in the stock tune. Just finished up cobb Stage1+ and I'm in love with my car all over again. Next round of mods will be dp + exhaust, I'm undecided on which, likely cobb or nameless if i can ever hear them both in person..

    • @MidWesti
      @MidWesti 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      i recommend the Tomei Expreme Ti cat back.. i have it on my 2011 STi and its gorgeous all around.. full titanium(16lbs lighter than stock) never rusts. straightest possible route. the welds are beautiful. and the sound reeeeeally brings out the rumble in a smooth deep tone. ive heard multiple manufactures and this one just fits the bill perfectly. HIGHLY recommend. i too made the AP and COBB intake my first mod.

    • @darkrashan
      @darkrashan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MidWeSTi thanks gonna have to go check that out for sure, def. Torn on exhaust lol

    • @MidWesti
      @MidWesti 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Fabiano do check it out. i was also VERY torn. im very picky with stuff like this and when spending upwards of $1K for an exhaust you have every reason to be. but after getting it i wouldnt take any other exhaust. the only thing you will regret is that you didnt get it sooner haha

    • @darkrashan

    I would say tune/accessport first. Just makes the car come alive and makes me smile every time I drive it. Followed by sway bars, short shifter, exhaust and wheels/tires.

  • @wrxnate2450

    Great video. Could agree more on your top 5. Not to mention that those mods are fairly straightforward for anyone looking to gain experience working on their cars.

  • @BadShadd1
    @BadShadd1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2014 WRX Hatch and so far I have only done the Nvidia N1 dual tip Titanium catback. Makes the car so much more fun to drive and brings out that rumble that we love so much. Thinking short throw shifter and bushings next. What didn't you like about the Cobb short throw?

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It started to rub and make third gear hard to get into. After a while the adjustability would change on its own because the screws would come loose. I loved how knotchy it was, but started to become a pain to have to keep tightening everything again.

    • @BadShadd1
      @BadShadd1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, ok yeah, that does sound pretty annoying.

  • @np7065

    exhaust, down pipe,up pipe, and ap - Power
    Strust,springs,endlinks, bushings, Rota's - Suspension
    It all depends what you want. Eventually in the end it all comes together. literally.

    It's really tough to say what the top 5 mods could be because one owner may have totally different goals than the next. Some want their car to look nice, some want straight line speed, and others want to hit up track days. I started off with Direzza SS II's, wheels, coilovers, then a rear 22mm sway bar. For about 3k, my GR handles ten-fold better than stock.
    EDIT: Of course, you'd want to get an exhaust system. The only thing better than your car handling like it's on rails is your car handling like it's on rails with added RUMBLE.

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. If you want all show, wheels, lip, exhaust, etc. I wanted a little of everything.

    Totally agree with your list though I did it totally different being in the Pacific North Wet (do a road trip up to Vancouver Island BC Canada the VI Subaru club will set you up!) First mods where V3 AP, Rally Armour Mudflaps, Rallitek Skidplate, Cobb STS w/ Cobb knob and 22mm/22mm whiteline sway bars and end links. I can't wait to get a turbo back exhaust, I'll probably buy it early next year after I do a water pump and timing belt change. So far my other mods include hella sharp tones, Grimspeed brake brace, Group N engine/ trans/pitch stop mounts.

  • @seanmp17
    @seanmp17 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The top 5 best mods that I've done are:
    1- Process West TMIC
    2- Cobb AP V3
    3- Invidia turboback exhaust (catted dp and N1 cb)
    4- AEM CAI
    5- Protune
    Of course there are a ton more mods, but these are my favorite.

    do i need to tune when i change my intake? how about blow off valve or uppipe?

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you will. For the intake the off the shelf map for Cobb will be fine, but any changes in the pipes I would suggest a pro tune.

      Intake makes your car sound like a jet liner. I took mine off. For sale of you want it. Cobb

    what didnt you like about the cobb short throw?? ive been debating on getting it. I already have the sti short throw but i hate how high up it sits

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      After so much adjusting the Allen screws got loose easily and the shifter would move up and down. Also when I put it down, after some time when I went to adjust it I noticed it rubbed off a lot of the rubber housing.

    Dude, the intake doesn't give that sound. It's called a Blow Off Valve (BOV). Look up best BOV sounds, it's pretty sick.

    • @rc2300s2r
      @rc2300s2r 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      SilverTech with a different intake it eliminates the stock resonator that silences the recirculation valve. Yes he did say it in a way that makes me think he doesn't know what he's talking about but I think I know what he meant. WRXs and STis don't have a BOV(vent to atmosphere). In fact it would be better to not get an intake unless you are getting a larger turbo with tune and other supporting mods. The stock air box will breathe just fine. You can just take off the resonator to get the sound.

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a big no no to run a vent to air on a Subaru. I was talking about how the Cobb intake gives you the "whoosh" and "air release" sound. The Cobb intake is fairly loud for an intake.

    • @rc2300s2r
      @rc2300s2r 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cali WRX I was talking to the other person but it's a big No no to run vent to atmos with any car if you're not tuned for it. You can run it if you tune it. The sounds you are referring to though are the sounds of the turbo and the recirculation valve. It's just that a different intake doesn't deaden the sounds like a stock box. Also some of the Cobb ots maps raise boost levels which will add to the louder sounds you hear.

    • @catzbunn
      @catzbunn  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may have better luck than I did. Just don't keep adjusting it. Once you find where you want it, tighten it and don't touch it again. I kept messing with it and I think the screws just got old. It was good when I had it, but it only lasted a year.
