I have been hearing that people wish Don would do more videos like this. Don I know you don't like being in front of the camera- but we'd like to see you do more stories on your cars, memories , people you worked for.
Personally I'd like the story on the #54 Super Modified

Great! I saw this run in Adelaide Australia with Bill "Wizard" Wigzell at the wheel.

I really enjoyed your informative story. They banned the Skirrow 4 wheel drive car supposedly because it could climb the fence and endanger spectators, but it was probably just too hard to beat! I once asked Dad why they used leaf springs sideways on midgets and he said they thought they worked better for some reason.i met George Tatnell before he died at Brisbane Ekka vintage day not long before he died. He was a fast man! And so is his son! If you’re interested to see the car dad built and raced it’s called the Allan Marshall Jeep Special, built 1947.

Even though I know Lee Kunzman and Steve Chassey well, I don’t remember this car at all. What a fantastic video.

Is Don still around? A few years ago I ran across two Edmunds midgets midgets that spent their racing lives in the Pacific NW & I bought them so I'd like to get some history on them if it's possible. They're both pre down tube cars, the VW is an elephant ear torsion bar chassis & the Chevy II is a wedge nose coil-over.

I was around Rowley Pk Speedway when Kevin Fischer brought this car in. Kevins driver Bill Wigzell could never come to terms with it and they usually raced the Alec Rowe Renault powered car car. This on Rowley Pks very smooth dolomite surface.Clay came a season or so later.
I knew it had gone to Tattnel [and those pics of George must have been very soon before he passed as he looks terrible] I thought it had ended up in Qld but clearly it had not. Alec Rowe was not very complimentary about the car either.
It was banned here in Oz as like some other cars it did not comply. There was 2 or 3 other more normal midgets built with independent rears at least, The last probably late 90s by Noel Hurd. But none were ever really good on dirt and worse on rough clay.
On the bitumen it may well have been a good thing, Tattnel I presume bought it for that as Liverpool had gone bitumen.
I seem to remember Bill driving it once on the half mile bowl at AIR. But really cannot remember how it went. The Sprintcar however went quite well.
