Pixel 5 = 78.5 Therefore, the Pixel 5 wins it for me, especially considering the lower cost, better battery, and, in my opinion, more preferably software.
Physical fingerprint scanner is more accurate in some case, correct, but what you didn't mention is that moisture and water will render that technology useless, while ultrasonic will work perfectly fine.
Pixel's camera software is still top notch, even with a slower processor as the sdm730. No wonder they never changed the camera sensor, and no wonder why there's so many GCam ports for lots of different smartphones.
The pixel camera software is so phenomenal, you can add a artificial, repositionable light source to light up your subject AFTER you take the picture🤯 That blows my mind
I've got the 21 plus think I'm switching to the pixel, I switched from the pixel 2 XL and I miss the software and user experience of the pixel. There's too many features on the Samsung which I don't like
Honestly i have an unlcoked s21 and pixel 4a 5g, and the samsung software isnt bad at all. It even has useful features that pixels dont like a true one handed mode and stuff. I wass able uninstall whatever little bloat i didnt like. So far so good only drawback is knowing youll have to wait a few months to get big android updates, but thats miles better than how long it used to take before.
I just like stock experiences. Gave up on Samsung phones back in 2017 after struggling with my Galaxy S5 with lag everywhere and battery life of 8 hours while my friend who had an iPhone 6 was fine... And I bet that "game booster" does the exact opposite.
I loved my galaxy s5 and the reason was that you could change out the bateery i always had a fresh battery on hand that way when it died I could change it out. unfortunately they nixed that feature after the s5. haven't had one since the s7
@Rommel the Cat I use Google Assistant and Bixby is only optional. Plus, I have a 256GB phone. "Bloatware" doesn't bothe me. My phone still blazing fast and i have never seen any ads on my samsung devices.

I think the main problem with pixel line in Europe is that it is prohibitively expensive comparing to Samsung. And while Samsung gets regular discounts and promotions pixel does not. Selling point of pixel used to be fast and long update cycles, but Samsung really upped their game it that department so they are equally as good nowadays. Pixel 5 is just not worth it if its only 130 euros cheaper than s21.
Just got the Samsung Galaxy S21 5g 256gb thanks to your comparison. With a code, got 75 euros discount on this version. Just hope someone will review some of the camera options.
Just bought the S21 5g a few days ago. The camera creates blown out, oversaturated images imo, especially greens. Shotting a raw looking image is impossible. If you want super punched, artificial colors, Samsung has you covered. The video is amazing, but again, overly saturated. Also made people look red. The hubs looked like he had a sunburn no matter what mode, indoor or outdoor. Also, battery drains very quickly. Can't get a full day out of it. I wouldn't recommend it for the price. I'm returning it today. I was really hoping that a phone that costs over $699 should perform better.
great video as always. As most of us are on 2 yr contracts how does it compare to the s10 etc? Is it worth upgrading? Too many reviews talk about the s20 etc but surely that's the wrong real world comparison. cheers.
Actually curious which phone you would pick? While both are awesome, I don't care much for cameras, instead wanting fantastic battery life and a consistently good software experience, so I like the Pixel. However, I had a Pixel 3 which drove me through the roof with the RAM management.
I will prefer the S21 over the pixel. You can always customize both phone to your choice. SAMSUNG gives you more options and features. However, it will be good if you watch comparison about both phone and play around with both at a local store
I'm definitely with you on that. I cannot stand the fact that they mock Apple when Apple takes away features but then they follow the same trend. The hypocrisy is killing me.

I hope Samsung will improve battery life a bit with future software updates, but for quite similar price (in my country) S21 is FAR superior in most parameters in my opinion.
Software on pixel is way better, smoother and won't lag after a year...that heavy skin on Samsung is bad in the long run, cute but performance not good, even with high spec...I like stock android, closest to iOS
@@The-Heart-Will-Testify The performance on Samsung is pretty good. Let's not act like it's bad, it might not be as good as on the Pixel, but still great.
If you want a compact phone, don't get the pixel 6. It is big and bulky, top heavy. Pixel 5 is a better choice for one handed use and clean software, while S21 for performance.
@Benjamin Owuye Jagun yeah I can see how much research you have done. S10 series was never said to have the newer OS update policy that the S20 series and later were said to have. Heck even new A series phones are said to have the same 3 year OS and 4 year security update policy! Maybe you don't know but google too is working on 5 years of OS update policy for its next phones as samsung has already matched them.
Completely different markets who are going to be buying each of these devices. People are going to buy the Pixel because it's straight from Google. Not because they care about gaming performance. Guarantee that the Pixel likely has better battery life than the Samsung.
Samsung actually guarantees 4 years of support on Galaxy phones starting with the S10 line. One of the reasons why I bought an S21 (the other being its 600$ price tag during Amazon Prime Day). I'm really loving the phone minus its battery life. I wish Samsung offered the similar form factor (maybe with a little added thickness) but with a 4500mAh battery instead.
Another good video! I'm a bit tired of samsung now. Everything they do just confuses me. Keep up the good work! Im glad I can watch something interesting during lockdown 😅
this is an opinion but i think no phone has ever toppled pixel 5 in term of frontal view beauty. look at 2:29 the bezels are so even it looks like there are no bezels at all even if samsung has overall thinner bezels. the uniform bezels are just a thing on its own tbh
My iPhone 11 which is 1.5 yrs old has a Geekbench cpu score of 1334 single core and 2986 dual core. It does say something about the A13 Bionic chip and a lot about exynos chipset. 🙂
This is the comparison I've been waiting to see. As a Pixel 3 user looking to upgrade, I really wasn't impressed with the Pixel 5 when it was released. My guess is is currently on the day to day the Pixel 5 is just fine but the S21 seems more future proof. But I did want to see how the S21 camera compares to the Pixel's. I've been spoiled by my Pixel's camera I think for too long. And thanks to Covid and lockdown life, I started to actual play more graphically intensive games like COD mobile vs more casual games, which I didn't really do before. And honestly my Pixel 3 can struggle at times even with me playing with medium graphics settings. Having also played COD mobile a few times on an S20 Ultra is actually what got me thinking of maybe upgrading my phone, because in most other ways my P3 still performs acceptably. But I noticed those more intensive games are no longer something this phone performs well with. The P5 with the SD 765 chip just doesn't seem like a major upgrade although many say it seems to be fine, I suspect that may not be true within a year. And the other sad thing is Android flagships are mostly all "ginormous" and wanting a pocketable friendly phone limits your options. I really would love to see OnePlus make a Pixel 5 sized phone because I tend to like closer to stock Android. But it seems like Samsung has made improvements on the software side where it's not as big of an issue as it used to be in the past, so I'm really considering this S21.
I haven't seen any phones match Google's recent Pixel range when it comes to astrophotography. Very impressive but no doubt not a feature for everyone. Just me then.
Coming from a s7 with QHD resolution I can say the difference in crispiness is really noticable. I would take QHD 60hz over 1080p 120hz any day. Hell I would even trade my s21 8g of ram with 4 GB of RAM and an old 765 Snapdragon without 5g if it meant getting QHD back at 60 Hz. You only really notice the 120hz when scrolling In the main menu (which you only really spend 5% of your time on your phone), in most apps 120hz is not that significant, so although 120hz is nice to have i really donc find it to be that significant. I went In the settings to set a 60hz refresh to save on battery life. All the other cuts Samsung made on the s21 I can happily live with but lowering that QHD res was a big mistake in my opinion.
One thing which should also be mentioned in the video is that although Google pixel 5 camera is amazing that is as long as it works. There is close to 100K reviews on Google camera app in Google play all complaining that camera stoped working after recent updates. You might be safe while your warranty lasts but after that you loose the main feature you bought it for.
It's really hard to believe !! Google is well known for clean software and best camera. If it is such a huge problem, How come i never come across this issue on TH-cam?
@@goodboy905 this is very easy to check, go to Google Play, open Google camera app and read recent reviews, they all the same, something happened in December and camera stoped working. There is 430K reviews and 40% of them is 1*. This is quite recent issue and bloggers barely ever hold the phone long enough to experience any issues, may be that's why not on youtube. I had pixel for 2 years and adored the camera on it, now it's not working and I am not the only one who feels it's not a hardware issue.
Great reviews by the way..Been following you for quiet a while. I mostly check in for the review of the video quality from the camera. One thing I notice nobody does a review of the audio quality of the recorded video from the camera. I tell you this because over a year ago I was encouraged to purchase a Huawei P30 Lite because of the camera quality from what is a budget phone. I am greatly disappointed...the video for a start is completely blown out and not sharp and the audio in the recorded video is so low I have to import the file into an Audio editing programme to get it up to normalized levels. Indeed it's so bad I've had to revert to an old Moto G Phone.
I hate this trend of smartphones getting bigger and bigger. Therfore, I really like the relatively compact size of the Pixel 5. Plus its stock Android and front camera punch hole in the left corner (looks better to me). But the S21 has a much better overall design in my opinion and obviously better speakers and far superior performance. Despite the size and higher price, I would be probably going for the S21.
Thanks for the comparison. Something to note when it comes to samsung double apps. Many do not know that samsung pay is unique and far superior than any other phones pay app. It uses a specific tech that emulates your cards magnetic strip that it will work on almost any card reader, even those that don't support smart pay. I've used it on ancient readers and had people thinking I was hacking them 😂 A real fault on samsung for not marketing this. Also, a note on the comparison between charging. The s21 does support 45watt charging if one purchases that port. Keep it up I love your videos!
I just went from a Pixel 3 to a Samsung S21....I now see why people claim iphone experience is so much better. The Pixel is so much better user experience. What the Pixel lineups have lacked in specs they more than make up for in beautiful software experience, superior camera focus and reprocessing on real world images, and useful innovative features. the rear mounted finger print scanner is 100x better than stupid in screen scanner that you never know where it is on the screen if the screen is locked. The tactic feedback of the google finger print scanner means I can have my phone unlocked by the time its out of my pocket and phone facing the right direction. I'd never have gotten the Samsung had T-mobile sold the Pixel 5 and I'm nearly at the point of swapping my sim card back to the Pixel 3. Google, I know you are listening....do not get rid of rear finger print scanner....in glass sensors are all the rage, but they are stupid in practice.
I prefer the Google Pixels because of the OS. I hate the "forced" apps that come on the Samsung Phones. Plus, in my opinion, nothing takes a better photo then the Pixel phones do. However, I have the S21 only because I received a better deal when I upgraded this past week. So it's back to Samsung for me.
I have been a Samsung customers since the S6. When I upgraded my S10 to the S20 I was very disappointed with its latest phone, in particular with the S20 camera. It's really bad! Download the photos on your computer and you will what I mean. I bought a Píxel 5 last week and the camera it's outstanding. Same quality as the ones from my wife's iPhone 12.

*Cost* - Samsung S21 (8/10), Pixel 5 (10/10)
Appearance, Robustness, Durability - Samsung S21 (9/10), Pixel 5 (8/10)
*Software* - Samsung S21 (8/10), Pixel 5 (10/10)
Screen & Display - Samsung S21 (9/10), Pixel 5 (9/10)
Audio - Samsung S21 (8/5/10), Pixel 5 (8/10)
*Performance* - Samsung 21 (9/10), Pixel 5 (8/10)
Gaming - Samsung S21 (9/10), Pixel 5 (8/10)
*Battery* - Samsung S21 (8/10), Pixel 5 (8.5/10)
*Camera* - Samsung S21 (9/10), Pixel 5 (8/10)
Total Score - Samsung S21 = 77.5. Pixel 5 = 78.5
Therefore, the Pixel 5 wins it for me, especially considering the lower cost, better battery, and, in my opinion, more preferably software.
Great comparison - I'm on a Pixel 3 with the same decisioning.
Physical fingerprint scanner is more accurate in some case, correct, but what you didn't mention is that moisture and water will render that technology useless, while ultrasonic will work perfectly fine.
One test not shown is portrait mode with human subjects. I was testing my wife’s 4a vs S21 at the local shop and Pixel crushes in this department!
Pixel's camera software is still top notch, even with a slower processor as the sdm730. No wonder they never changed the camera sensor, and no wonder why there's so many GCam ports for lots of different smartphones.
Can you install the gcam apk on an s21?
@@Honk_Clank nope
G cam is not available to any samsung devices but available on onplus devices
The pixel camera software is so phenomenal, you can add a artificial, repositionable light source to light up your subject AFTER you take the picture🤯 That blows my mind
I've got the 21 plus think I'm switching to the pixel, I switched from the pixel 2 XL and I miss the software and user experience of the pixel. There's too many features on the Samsung which I don't like
Pixel 2 camera colors better 1000000% than s21 ultra
Honestly i have an unlcoked s21 and pixel 4a 5g, and the samsung software isnt bad at all. It even has useful features that pixels dont like a true one handed mode and stuff. I wass able uninstall whatever little bloat i didnt like. So far so good only drawback is knowing youll have to wait a few months to get big android updates, but thats miles better than how long it used to take before.
just hide the fucking bloatware, simple
I just want a fast as hell phone with great specs but with a shitty camera. Could not care less about taking photos.
You want the pixel 5 then
I just like stock experiences.
The S21 is a no brainer 4 me! Almost everyone is super into stock Android but I love me a feature packed yet useful and well executed OS.
@Rommel the Cat Wrong. I have a Note 10+ and I love it. Fast despite all the features it has. Stock android boring asf.
@Rommel the Cat I use Google Assistant and Bixby is only optional. Plus, I have a 256GB phone. "Bloatware" doesn't bothe me. My phone still blazing fast and i have never seen any ads on my samsung devices.
@Rommel the Cat lol do your research mate
Only Samsung weather has an ad in it
You clearly never owned a Samsung flagship ...they aren’t ads in the software
The app has a deal with an ad company that’s all
But haters won’t do research and just repeat whatever they hear
Go check tests one UI is faster than stock 😂
Samsung provides 3yrs of update too !
I'll believe it when I see it.
3 of security , one to two of actual updates
They'll support it as long as they won't. They don't tell us until they know when they want to stop.
@@pogsee it's TRUE
from the s10 or better
On every video of yours, i see on your Phone an anime wallpaper, thats why i am subscribing you and i also liked the Video😍
I prefer the Pixel. Samsung comes with lots of great features that most people will never use. Much more expensive. Pixel experience is unique.
Pixel 5 is just not worth it if its only 130 euros cheaper than s21.
your desktop wallpapers are always sick. Links?
Hi mate, love your reviews. Will you be doing a review of the tab7 se?
Great video , can you compare samsung galaxy s21 vs sony xperia 5ii ?
great video as always. As most of us are on 2 yr contracts how does it compare to the s10 etc? Is it worth upgrading? Too many reviews talk about the s20 etc but surely that's the wrong real world comparison. cheers.
11:15 battery test
Actually curious which phone you would pick? While both are awesome, I don't care much for cameras, instead wanting fantastic battery life and a consistently good software experience, so I like the Pixel. However, I had a Pixel 3 which drove me through the roof with the RAM management.
I will prefer the S21 over the pixel. You can always customize both phone to your choice. SAMSUNG gives you more options and features. However, it will be good if you watch comparison about both phone and play around with both at a local store
@Benjamin Owuye Jagun maybe with Android 12, i may consider a pixel. 💪
'About as appealing as a brussel sprout sandwich'
Hilarious....and i LOVE brussel sprouts. 😂
I’d definitely switch to Samsung if they weren’t trying to be the next Apple so desperately.
YES.... THIS!
PLEASE MORE!
Their prices always seem like they're competing with Apple for bragging rights 🤔
I'm definitely with you on that. I cannot stand the fact that they mock Apple when Apple takes away features but then they follow the same trend. The hypocrisy is killing me.
@@Erick-fg8ou yet apple use all the hardware of Samsung u can even look it up I don't even have none of these phones because of the cancer fan base especially apple google for me not flashy not blind iphone users getting scammed 😂
Samsung provides 3 years of software update and 5 years of security patch
Yea I remember when they announced that
Your not getting no 5yrs of security updates is 3yrs
@@chrislopez1918 you do get 5 years..
s6 still got last security update last year.
Isn't it 4 years of security patch? 4 or 5?
@@hendrywidyanto115 no galaxy s7 which is 5 years are security patch till date so it's 5 years of security patch
Great review, please who has better haptic feedback between this phones
Pixel
I hope Samsung will improve battery life a bit with future software updates, but for quite similar price (in my country) S21 is FAR superior in most parameters in my opinion.
Is it just me or design of pixel 5 more simple and aesthetic, compared to s21, but software wise , nah
Here again i can't afford non of them but still watching hopelessly. 😂
lool you just like me😅😅
@@shantelbarbie9055 lmao
Thanks for the vid, Im trying to decide if I should replace my Pixel 3xl with a Pixel 5 or the Galaxy S21. Really cant decide lol.
Wait for pixel 6
I'm deciding aswell but like the other guy said I might wait till the pixel 6 is released
If you want a compact phone, don't get the pixel 6. It is big and bulky, top heavy. Pixel 5 is a better choice for one handed use and clean software, while S21 for performance.
Samsung too supports 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates for it's flagship and even A series phones.
@Benjamin Owuye Jagun are you dumb or something my dude! Before commenting you should've researched for the same.
Guarantee that the Pixel likely has better battery life than the Samsung.
very helpful video, thank you!!
I went with the s21. No more headaches for me for 5 years with any luck
Goodluck with that finger print reader
@@Mondo_0ne so far my biggest issues been lense protectors lol
Finally I have been waiting for this! Thank you!
What is that wallpaper? its amazing!
Never been this early :) loving the content
He's the gem of the interwebs.
Samsung has a pro mode which can be useful for astrophotography
I always like your wallpapers 😁 please share link to download
Top review pal 👍
What camera are you using for this review? it is hunting quite heavily for some reason
A comparison between S21/21+ and S21 Ultra camera and battery performance would be much appreciated!
2:43 broo the Sage Pixel 5 is just amazingly good looking and eye-catching
Thanks for the comparison. Something to note when it comes to samsung double apps. Many do not know that samsung pay is unique and far superior than any other phones pay app. It uses a specific tech that emulates your cards magnetic strip that it will work on almost any card reader, even those that don't support smart pay. I've used it on ancient readers and had people thinking I was hacking them 😂
A real fault on samsung for not marketing this.
Also, a note on the comparison between charging. The s21 does support 45watt charging if one purchases that port.
Keep it up I love your videos!
Well the s21 series does not have this feature
@@fat.unicorn wow I had no idea and just read that all following samsung phone will also lack this feature. Such a disappointment 😞
Samsung confirmed 3 years security and OS updates, same as Google!!! 😄Great reviews
What app do you use for wallpapers
Mate, your gmail account appers a couple of times in video, take care¡¡

I prefer the Google Pixels because of the OS. I hate the "forced" apps that come on the Samsung Phones. Plus, in my opinion, nothing takes a better photo then the Pixel phones do. However, I have the S21 only because I received a better deal when I upgraded this past week. So it's back to Samsung for me.
