That little dog is Widget. She belongs to our Granddaughter and is a Jack Russel cross. She always wags her tail when the fox comes but whines at the badgers. She gets very upset if there is a squabble, though. Well spotted.
Just to clear things up, a Badger has very loose and tough skin, a brutal bite and very sharp claws. Very few animals can take on a fully grown badger and those tend to be apex predators. Foxes are simply to small to be a threat.
Even American badgers are quite fearsome (a bit smaller than the European one here) and won't back down once they go into fight mode. I've often heard animals that burrow need to be because they can't run away when they are faced with a threat.
Are wolves big enough to be a threat? I'd say a brown bear could take on a badger. Definitely a polar bear could do it because the badger would be cold AND tired out from all that walking.

Most badgers will destroy foxes in a fight, mainly red foxes because they’re more so scavengers than their grey counterparts and thus smaller and skinnier. The badgers claws are longer and so are there teeth plus they’re naturally more defensive/aggressive than reds who aren’t used to any sort of confrontation. If you go up north (Scotland) however or other more rural areas you’ll find the greys, these things eat badgers and can be huge, like borderline wolf huge. I’ve seen them fight deers and hunt rabbits for fun.

There were two little girls with us. One was my granddaughter who was about 10 and my great niece who was a couple of years older. I don't recall either saying 'lost' but it could have been 'got'. The vixen's rear right leg stayed dislocated for the next year or two but she managed to raise at least one family before she disappeared.

@@edstar83 Badgers have very thick and loose skin, strong jaw, small and thick members, very small ears and tail and huge claws.
Add to that they are agressive, determined, proud and fearless.

He wasn't afraid of anyone he beat the crap out of four mechanics who ripped him off in self defense, (they attacked him first) yet he had compassion for animals. He told me when he was younger he once killed a pig with a knife and said that was the only time never again.He felt sorry for it. Don't confuse compassion for weakness.

Badgers don't look cute AT ALL. They are vicious and creepy, and i Love all animals but I'd be fine to never see a badger. It's incredible the little fox survived. She was just hungry too.

iif a weasel was that size it would dominate by far, and lets go a step further if it was twice the size of a badger it would be the most feared creature
