- Alex Laughlin is a NHRA and rvw who entered the winter meltdown no prep race in san Antonio , Texas. This was the first time the blown corvette has seen a no prep track and faced off against some seasoned veterans in no prep. Alex discusses some of the challenges doing no prep and why no prep. He also discusses who he thinks is a big challenge to race in no prep and overall his thoughts on it. Overall, it was great to see new no prep racers and was a great time. Video's like this show you the very reason I will not run no prep. I've watched a few and have never seen one that didn't involve someone either cracking up or almost cracking up. It's a very dangerous way to race.
No prep takes some balls no offense I've tried it it's a way different and more dangerous sometimes you gotta let your nuts hang
Closes to real street racing while still having a wall, no traffic or random people in danger.
Killer cab looked good except for the red light and Laughlin will figure it out but whether or not he will be super competitive is yet to be seen, as long as the car isn’t stretched or whatever other rules he tries fudge a little then I can’t wait to see him line up with a few different people and wonder how many times he’ll get his ass busted. I just don’t like how cocky he is but that’s my opinion and we all have one!
I think Alex should stay in his lane... I think Ryan would be stomping him for a good while, alot of successful fast champion's from other types of racing have thrown there hat in no prep and so far not been able to do anything, He just wants to run npk's so he can be on tv to he's feeling left out lol Just my opinion as well though

Did you just see these 2 passes? Alex needs to get his feet wet before jumping in with the sharks. He wouldnt make it passed the race your way in with passes like these. He swore up and down he would dominate on a no prep track...yet he couldnt outrun the JV team.

Will never understand the allure to “no prep” racing. Also don’t understand anyone talking smack about Laughlin’s car. It won Lights Out 10, against all of the baddest radial cars in the world. It’s over powered for no prep, but if he committed to setting it up, that car would win often. Would like to see these no prep guys throw their hats in the ring at radial races (other than Ryan Martin)
Overpowered for no prep? None of those cars are low on horsepower even compared Laughlin's car.
I’m not sure most are making that kind of power. But Either way, I meant with turbos and nitrous you can bring in the power more so than you could with a twin screw.
Everyone’s I’ve seen is north of 3k it’s knowing how much the car/track can take on the givin day.
Ryan, chiefs, nova and most of no prep cars are 3k and above

@@bradblaser3972 he has run that car in nhra event qualifying. He was told by npk before the season start his car wasnt legal and had to build a new one. Which also didnt fit the rules. He threw a tantrum about it before Armageddon.

Buying a brand new motor is over $75,000.00 dollars. So if I were you I would add a whole bunch of dollars to your estimate of what one of these cars cost. I’m saying they have $200,000.00 to $250,000.00 in each vehicle. Plus most of them have an extra bullet in their trailers. Which would send each car over $300,000.00.
I’m not sure but I think they said 77,000.00 no injection or cam. Those two things are extra depending on what class or style of racing you do.

Car doesn’t have to have steel legally because vettes don’t have steel in the first place. It’s full fiberglass that’s what came from the factory.

Man Alex can't take a car and take it on no prep he has got to do lot's of testing and stuff right now he is running blind he has no idea what to set the suspension to or set the hp to it takes a lot of time and testing to get it right it's not just a I drag race on a prepped track so I can run on a no prepped track it's not how it works

overkill automotive performance why worry about Alex sticking to the Nrha lane? Why not embrace him coming over to no prep and making a fool of his self. In my opinion it will just help the no prep scene due to how hard it really is.

1- take a 40% hp out
2- if it sticks add 10% hp more
3- keep adding or taking it out more until car sticks then adjust
4- if the wheels aren’t spinning your probably winning in No Prep
almost looked like the same passes he made at the mega races in the gasmonky but at least he didn't lose and I just don't believe that blower motors can beat the twin turbos it's a nice Vette though

I think it says alot about Alex’s character to give Ryan Martin and his crew props. Every time i see and hear him talk i like him more and more and since mega race 1 against Big Chief i didnt like him but that was mostly because of his associations with R.R. ! Alex get away from that guy!
He didn't really give props to Ryan, he just answered the guys question. Alex is trying to be humble, to get some of the heat off him. This vidoebis chopped up while being asked and answering the questions. Alex sounds a salesman.

In No-Prep the HEMI-combination has not rule-advantage over all the other drivetrains. By NHRA rules HEMI is the only way to go but the Rules are so different, that NHRA cars could be outpowered by 481x or even 481-ish Pontiac Turbo-combinations. Alex is damn fast on NHRA rules, but on NO-Prep it is a new game.

What are you talking about? The car has been 3.60s on a radial. Look how much experience Shawn has and his new car hasn't done very well. It's ridiculous to think many of these other guys don't have the same if not more money in their program.

The ability to read data and the track and make the correct adjustments plus the understand of power management. So please explain where your confusion is.
The biases of the street outlaw fans is insane. I do also watch it because I've know the engine builder for Vixen for over 20years. Although I'd never push the narrative that no prep has the best drivers. You'll find great drivers everywhere. Takes skill to run at the top of any heads up class. Anyone who's ran in one or been a crew member like I have should have no problem comprehending my statement. The only people who seem to get confused are the dick riders who never have.
Now if you're still confused. Like I've said before. I don't argue with idiot's. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'd like to see Laughlin race Big Chief.

Didnt Chief only race him once then Ryan Martin did the 2nd time? That was also Alex as a hired driver for a car Laughlin wasnt familiar with 2-3 passes on a car is not enough track time to get use to a car. Might be a little different now seeing as Laughlin has been running this car for a few events and know how to dial in the suspension and horsepower per track conditions. Im not a fan of either but I think there is a reason they said he couldnt use this car so then he built a Camaro and now all of a sudden they said he could use the Vette' the same car they said didnt fit the rules before, I guess when you let Plan B run in no preps and Laughlins car is exactly the same setup and say he doesnt qualify per rules kinda makes you look like a hypocrite like your running from something, what do I know make yur own assumptions first you're outside the rules then all of a sudden the same car is and they didnt change the no prep rules in this last season, per chassis regulations.
It would be a good race between Alex and the Crow, CROW FOR THE WIN!!
But with Alex's car he needs to race the CROWMOD, just like in this Alex would need to pray for a red light.
@@4u2nv47 You do know the crowmod is a full pro mod chassis right? Alex's vette is a stock tagged/ registered vette just made to full tube chassis but a lot of the no prep cars are same setups, started as street cars then full tubed, the crowmod is a complete chrome moly pro mod tube chassis with Chief in it I bet it weights 2350lbs max, remember to run no preps you have to adjust your weight for the size motor and power adder being used, hes using a screwblower Hemi, so if you look up the chassis rules for no prep's Alexs vette to compete has to weight 3,100-3,250lbs and if you didnt know they do add weights in areas of chassis to make weight limits.thats why you dont see promod chassis cars in no preps, whats the point in having to add 1,000lbs to a car setup like that.

@Glenn Woodard last time ryan ran in lights out he ran a 3.86 and did pretty good I was at that lights out event and saw him run....not sure why you brought ryan up cause I never mentioned him...ryan has never been in the 3.60s ...my point was alex is fast and has a great car and he shouldn't get all the hate but everybody has there right to do whatever they want ....lots of no prep people used to run at lights out but all have stopped you have to ran 3.50s to 3.60s to even have a chance
Glenn Woodard Ryan ran 3.80’s 3 years ago and had been running radials for 2 years before that Alex has taken this car to 7 different events since he’s owned it and has already been 3.60’s

Just my opinion, and only based only on seeing her from behind (she could be a butterface, I have no idea), but the chick backing Alex up is definitely ready for no prep, or prep’d. She is ready. Alex I am not so sure about.
I think he could make that car work just fine with alot of testing/tuning. Not sure how big of tire he can get to go under that car which may put him at a small disadvantage if he can't fit the same tires everyone else runs. The vettes don't have alot of room for the BIG tires ya need in no prep. Bigger the tire the better when your making as much power as Alex. The new car he built for NPK broke many rules so he can't use that car in the main/invitational class he would want to run in at NPK. I think he can make that RVW car into a contender if he can fit a big enough tire to work on the non prepped tracks. All of the guys run a BIG tire and I think Alex has said before that he can't fit the size tire he needs to be running under the vette.
Rumor is, a 31" tire will be the maximum tire size next year for NPK.

If it needs to be a wider tire and he can’t get one to fit under the car, narrow the rear end a little more. That’s all it amounts to because I’m sure it’s tubbed plenty enough.
He seems to be a good guy most of the hate people have for him was unjustified. People who are big Chiefs fans hated on him for no reason and I think unjustly Richard Rawlings was hated on also anytime somebody builds a 3-second car and they have no Driving Experience what idiot wants to lineup besides that person his first day out unless he learns to drive the car. who really expected Richard Rawlings to drive that car. Big Chief was looking for a easy win or a guaranteed win.
