    About Sheepdog Response:
Sheepdog Response was founded by Green Beret, Special Forces, Sniper, and former top 5 UFC Middleweight, Tim Kennedy. Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel.
People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success.
The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it…
We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats

This is great details and good to know. I’m only a blue belt however a couple problems I see with jiujitsu from sport aspect is people thinking they can apply triangles in the street or pulling guard. There are so many people getting slammed to the concretely video in the streets so I always trained that if I’m going for a triangle I’m immediately ready to secure my opponents leg or ankles to prevent being slammed. Also I never pull guard even in practice, I rather someone work to take me down as I feel that pulling guard in the street dangerously lends you to being slammed. Just my perspective again I’m only a blue belt but hopefully my message saves someone from getting slammed in the street.

Except that there are literally hundreds of videos and news articles of people using the giard and catching attackers in triangles and armbars in re fights, including women defending themselves from rapists and muggers.
The specific points that you raise are valid enough but BJJ - including attacks from guard - is proven. Its best not to fall for one size fits all rules about the parameters of "self defense".

Half guard to kick away is also good.
If I use a leglock I can switch to an ankle lock or trapsweep.

Amazing channel. Love all about it, just my 2 cents, is that bottom game works in the street too as long as there isn't multiple attackers. Let me see some average Joe meathead defend even most basic things from inside the guard. Untrained person won't even get to end in mount against a trained guy, and if they do they will be there for 1 sec until Kimura breaks their arm. No need to even get out, or shrimp out, just ezikiel choke him or anything, I mean possibilities are endless. Remember they are untrained they don't know how to defend AAAANYYYTHING!
