    "I want my videos to feel like you asked a friend to show them something they love" is spot on why I am buckled up for the hour on a pedal that I dont think ill be intersted in getting by the end (never know). But I really appreciate your insight and approach, always coming away learning something new and feeling good the entire way. ❤

    22:31 I could not agree more. This type of pedal deserves a larger format with more knobs.
    Imagine a synthesizer - even a very simple cheap digital synth with a couple oscillators envelopes and a filter. Nothing else special. Then add all of the functionality of this pedal and all the controls right on the front panel.
    Tell me that wouldn't sell like hot cakes.

    100% agree about the hidden controls/expanding beyond the traditional Chase Bliss format. I had a Mk I and found myself frustrated by its limitations, but the hidden features of the Mk II (fade, sync, tone, and level balance in particular) make it into something I really enjoy. Hidden, nothing! They are essential!

    I want one so bad! I copped the Thermae on the anniversary sale for the same price as the mood mkii and I already have a microcosm but damn, this pedal is gorgeous. What a time to be alive. so much dope gear. I'm more of a jazz musician (upright bass) but having these tools at home for fun and or studio work has been so fun. Reinvigorated my creativity for sure. Midi controllers are mad better nowadays too. Considering going MPE and getting the Joué or the Erae, but idk might just get a beatstep pro since they're so cheap for finger drumming stuff. love the channel, you've given me so many ideas. keep on keeping on man!

    thanks for this! have been very intrigued by this pedal, but never really understood how people got to the sounds that were being shared. use of keyboard / electric piano at the start made it easy to see exactly what the input was, which in turn made it easier to understand what each knob did. wish i had watched this before their recent sale ended, but have one on order now. thanks again for this video!

    Maybe Chase Bliss should make a midi companion pedal with templates for all the CB pedals to add direct access to the hidden controls. Seems like it could be a good compromise between keeping the small form factor and giving extra control to those who want it without needing to get deep into midi programming.

    I’m kind of new when it comes to effects pedals, and I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “stretch the buffer”.? thank you for this comprehensive walk-through. I enjoyed it. Also, perhaps it’s unrealistic for me to expect this but the reverb time knob I don’t like the sound it makes in a musical context when I’m trying to perform when I change that.

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I say buffer, it's audio that's currently being delayed. Something I played in that hasn't been repeated back yet.
      And I use stretch way too generally, delending on the mode,mood might shift the pitch of the buffer, playing back from the buffer faster or slower than it was played in, or it might just expand / shrink the size of the buffer, playing back 1 second instead of 2 etc.
      I agree, the reverb at high smear settings is very noticeable. Good case for using another reverb after mood

      I constantly use the Hazarai, it was my first pedal ever and I love it dearly... it still holds up surprisingly well and is very versatile with all its delay, reverse delay and echo options. Not to mention its 30sec looper with changeable speed/direction/filter. It's a beast!
      Lately I have been eyeing the MOOD MKII to run in paralel for multiple manipulatable loops/washes. But the price of the mood is a tough pill to swallow... It kinda helps to think of it as two pedals in one format, but still... it's the price of 3 SMMwH 😢

      I tried to think why I was so negative about listening to this and to examine why it got to me so much …
      One reason was that it’s sponsored by the company… so no it’s not an unbiased video and I’ve always loved your channel and trusted what you’ve said … but somehow this time something felt off.
      Mischief if this company seems to be all about Hipster design and experience Brent hats etc .. I haven’t found a single straight review of positive and negatives of this just lots of drip coffee and warm lighting.
      The other reason led me to explore the topic of ‘noodling’ and I found out this is the playing of notes that may be in a scale but lacks the musical integrity of rhythm or harmonic progression… which this is seemed to be and a kind of torture to my ears.
      Perhaps I’m sensitive because I’m guilty of this meaning the pentatonic scales right now.
      The content also seemed to noodle in a similar manner that just had me feeling like I wanted to get to the point .. but just couldn’t endure it any longer - so I apologise for my negativity but wanted to explain, after some thought why that was - I hope this helps and even more so than just people telling you again how wonderful everything is in the comments than even the most insecure person must find a little tiresome.

    • @tomfabinski
      @tomfabinski ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AutisticCuriosity I agree! With all due respect, Jorb took a complex pedal and made it even more confusing. These reviewers are quick to start twisting knobs without explaining what’s happening or showing the before and after. This demo/review might make sense to Jorb but I’m willing to bet that he didn’t show his review to anyone before posting it. And, as you point out, the sounds that he fed into the pedal often failed to produce anything musically pleasing. TH-cam reviewers are too quick to generate content without giving critical thought to their own review. Maybe if he didn’t try to pack everything in to his one hour review but instead focussed on just a few of Mood’s capabilities.
