      The Flower Pedals Dahlia just released at least an equally great pedal, that his dual analog delay, with TRS stereo in and out, so it can work as true stereo. It sounds just as good analog delay, with far more options in a much smaller enclosure.
      I don’t think there’s a wrong choice, depending what one wants, but it’s also $100 less than the Meraki is new.

      @@CorbCorbinThanks for bringing this up! Now we have two full stereo BBD Delays all of a sudden! Unfortunately to a central European customer the Flower Pedals are not as easy to get as ordering Walrus products which are widely available at all the bigger (and smaller) retailers here.
      It appears they are only selling online in a d2c approach meaning there is an extra for shipping + VAT to be considered and worst case customs is to be dealt with.

    Your Walrus Sloer review a few months ago turned me on to Walrus Audio. When I first heard about the Meraki, I had to get one. I got the blacked out edition shortly before Christmas. It’s a great pedal, definitely worth the price. And yes, I have a Matriarch too, for that beautiful stereo delay.

      So happy that you ended up getting into Walrus a SLOER from my video. They make amazing stuff and are great folks. Meraki is on a whole nother level eh. You could run your matriarch delay into the Meraki for quad BBD delay!

    This pedal sounds so amazing and your demo sounds better than any of the others.
    Random request: I’ve had amazing experience with the line 6 hx one. I really love the dynamic plate reverb on it and there are so many cool stereo effects on it as well. Would love to know your thoughts. I feel like it doesn’t get any love from synthtubers, but I’ve seen demos where it competes with the best boutique pedals out there.

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I will keep that in mind if I have a chance to try the HX one, I think they tend to want more demos from guitar players than synth players, but it does look like a really cool piece of gear :)

      My two favourite delay pedals! I use both all the time, Meraki has taken over for bread and butter, and LVX is my sound design box. These two pedals + Microcosm pretty much have my delay and granular needs set forever. The only pedal I miss that has been booted off the board is the Echosystem (still incredible especially for the price, I just find the LVX and Meraki do what it does even better).

    Thanks so much for the video, really enjoyed your playing! I wanted to ask you, how would you compare it to the Matriarch Delay? I know they use the same BBD chips, but do you think they are comparable in their sound? which one do you like more?

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is definitely the better delay feature wise, and also I really like the tone control on the Meraki. BUT the Matriarch delay is still the best built in delay of any included synth. It really does sound similar and can do a lot of the same things as Meraki. If you need a synth and happen to also want a BBD delay, you can't go wrong. But if you just want the best possible analog delay on the market, get Meraki.

    You mentioned the stereo analog delay on the Matriarch at the beginning - how does the sound compare to the Meraki? If someone already had a Matriarch, would the Meraki provide any benefit aside from an alternate form factor?

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Meraki has way more control than the Matriarch. Even on bright mode, Matriarch is really dark (which is lovely, but harder to mix), whereas I love the analog tilt eq maxed out on Meraki bright mode. Meraki also has 1200ms of delay time vs Matriarch 750ms, so it can do longer delay times. It's also better for weird stereo drone-y stuff cause of the different feeback modes. Sound quality wise they are both on par!

    • @stevenDtheFirst
      @stevenDtheFirst 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Meraki has a high pass filter starting to roll off at around 500Hz also affecting the dry signal, so comparing to the Matriarch (and other Moog delays which I also own) you might not want to use the Meraki for sounds containing frequencies from lower octaves.

    I'm a huge fan of stereo guitar, but I don't quite see the point of building a stereo analog delay pedal. If the delay lines are totally independent, then what's the difference from running two mono analog delay pedals? I guess it's nice to be able to modulate both delay lines with the same LFO, but tbh I don't think it's that different at the end of the day from two separate delay lines being modulated differently. If that matters that much, you could always run your two mono delays into a stereo modulation effect. Idk. This is a cool pedal, but it's very expensive. I just don't see the value here. I love that it has midi though. I appreciate that Walrus didn't omit that.

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Crossfeedback is a big reason! Can't do that with 2 delay pedals. It creates some really amazing textures. Also, form factor and ease of use is a big reason why. If you don't need stereo though, Thermae and Meet Maude that I show briefly are still absolutely incredible pedals.

      @MilesAwayOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There would definitely be a difference! D1 is great but its digital emulations of different types of delay. This is pure analog, but can only do this one sound. Honestly, if you are 100% sure you don't need stereo, there's other really good analog delays you can check out. Stay tuned on the channel I am making an analog delay shootout!

  • @svenrustempasic8332
    @svenrustempasic8332 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Your instrument is always CENTER - no stereo field. That is because outputs do not have independent dry/wet pots (including KILL DRY) which are needed to position your instrument somewhere else except in the CENTER. To be a Stereo pedal, it MUST have two fully independant pots for OUTPUTS, Left pot and Right pot. Each pot should have 100% DRY signal at FULL CCW and 100% WET at FULL CW (same as ¨KILL DRY¨) for the Left OUT or the Right OUT signal... and a mix of dry/wet in between for each side, of course.

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You are mistaken, my instrument is not center. Check 9:37 in the video. The instrument I use (OB-6) has the ability to pan each voice across the stereo spectrum, then if you listen, each Meraki repeat accurately lines up with where in the stereo field my panned voice playing each note is situated. This is a big difference from what a lot of pedals do which is sum both stereo in channels to mono and then apply the effect to this mono sum. Meraki does NOT do this, which is why its so unique.

  • @svenrustempasic8332

    This is NOT a true Stereo. Dry signal goes to both outputs with a common MIX, which makes it non-Stereo. Both outputs should have their own dry/wet mixing pot with KILL DRY option and all in between to FULL WET.

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is definitely true stereo as you get independent control over the left and right channels and it reacts properly to where your stereo input signal is in the stereo spectrum; it doesn't sum to mono. What you are asking for would be better achieved just by buying two mono pedals.
