Just saying with all the wrestlers on Japan, Mexico etc that are in excellent condition and are acrobatic and studied the art of wrestling, they don't get any credit because they don't have a catch phrase or fireworks when they come down the ring

in terms of just knowledge of musical theory, Bob Dylan was nowhere near as 'capable' of a musician as probably a majority of the singer/songwriter/guitarists of the day who had been doing it as long as he had. But his sound (primarily his vocals) was *far* more emotionally evoking and also far more socially/politcally aware and so felt relevant and relatable. *but* at the same time his songwriting style was relatively straightforward. some call it simple, others call it easy to digest. check out the gem 'Times Are Changing'. A more recent and probably better example of a great musical artist who wasn't necessarily considered a great musician would be Kurt Cobain. idk, i can appreciate skill but just as the mainstream is constantly flooded with 'artists' who are 3 parts businessperson and a 1/2 part musician (soundcloud types) I think the underground is flooded with *so much* raw skill that is just 99 times out of 100 lacking that 'it' factor as they say. my thoughts

But if you think that they got where they are without knowing at least a little theory or how to play a single instrument ( i see the MPC as an instrument) then you're fooling yourself. People stopped buying "real" music which is when the lanes started opening up. Cardi B worked at it for years and gave honesty, the other girl is just a parody with okay beats.I like Bodak yellow but Red Barz goes hard and was full of raw honesty. The fact that there are people like Adele, Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Andra Day, Beyonce, John Legend, the list goes on (not that far) that can sing, write, and/or play instruments in today's space is almost a miracle, because they are few and far between, and that they are thriving and breaking records is very much a miracle. Soon enough they too won't exist, or will go into the background and transition into other avenues that pay them way more. While social media allows for more people to be seen and more music to be heard, sometimes they get it wrong, they pay more attention to a gimmick than talent. Where is Darren Espanto? if you are wondering who that is that might be the problem. Like he said, there are many talented people out there that don't get talked about, but even when they do, people just ignore them later.

Nah he can't do wat Slash can do and Slash can't do what Axl can do and what Premo can do or Q Tip can do. In hiphop you either rap or you're good on the machine and that takes skill. I can make a fuckn Gucci Gang or Lil Yatchy type beat on Garageband rnn I suck but I can make one of those records but I'm pretty sure I can't do what RZA can do or Madlib can do or Dre can do on the machine. RA is the Lord J in Vlads mind he can argue with. Vlad is way to comfortable spitting shitty opinions to people as ill as RA. If vlad aka val thinks nas is the worst beat picker in hip hop, then vlad is guilty of having the worst taste in hip hop

I think an obvious point needs to be made that will piss a ton of hiphop fans but it's the truth. You can't make anyone that's suddenly famous and make them into a rockstar, a singer, a piano player, a drummer, a bass player, or a guitar player but what you can do is turn any talentless shithead into a chart topping rapper, talent isn't a requirement. Anyone can read rap verses over a beat it's not a skill there's no notes or keys to hit the timing is not hard and the rhythms typically used are very simple, all the label needs is someone who is currently famous and then they just hire a basic pop song writer and a good producer that went to music school and they have themselves a star. These producers and song writers have probably already made songs for "artists" to perform that they haven't even found yet, mainstream hip-hop just follows a very simple rnb formula and when the vocalist doesn't have to worry about being a talented or trained vocalist it's easy anyone can do it. Jake paul could easily become a platinum level rapper with the right people behind him the only job he has to do is be famous.

I'm a old head. I understand that the content is everything. Hip Hop used to be about writing and rhyming. Those days are long gone. Just like the most important person at any hip hop event was the DJ. Rakim changed that by himself. Fast forward to now, content are mint plates now. Like that Boonk shit. As ridiculous as he is. 3 million subscribers is mind boggling to me. I don't know what kind of views/streams/whatever the Cash Me Out girl gets. But if people are watching her content. Only thing is happening is, Google will get less and Atlantic will get more. Cash me out girl will get a better check. But nothing like if she owned her own content.
