For me eating out or eating with other people was never the time where I would overeat. I would do so when I was sure I was on my own, I think a lot of us have/have had this secret behaviour. You don't become obese because of overindulgence on one night out, and I think it's important to be honest with yourself about how you've gained weight, and especially SO much weight in the first place. Also I completely agree with you saying there is no wagon. I would say we are the train, if we stop, the journey stops until we choose to depart again. I think it's a more accurate and helpful image. Loved your video xx
I’ve been on a journey as well, still in weight loss… so I know that around 3x a month I’ll have unplanned meals, a bit of sugar etc. Knowing that helps cut a lot of the panic. Because I know the next day, I’m on track. Around my cycle, i exceed my calories a little bit and I have a bit of sugar and that’s ok. I still track everything. And I know this kind of awareness is for my benefit and how I want to treat my body esp as I’m in my late 40s. I started at nearly 300lbs last year, released quite a bit (also going to therapy, 12 step meetings etc) and it’s not perfect but I’m finally ok with my weight and body love.
As someone on my first BodySlims journey, I was really happy to see this video pop up, Your tip about making your selection from an online menu or website and then not opening the menu when you arrive to the restaurant is priceless. I wish I would have thought of that before my last sushi outing.
Only 7kg to go before I am in maintenance! All because of your concept that weight-loss is just for a “finite amount of time”! Huge mind set shift for me!!!🎉🎉🎉
I really like your suggestion of choosing what you really want instead of ALL the things. It helps avoid feeling sorry for yourself and limits the calories. I accidentally did this the other day when fam wanted to go out and I only had 600 cals to spend. I ate a simple salad at home before we went and I was genuinely happy with my choice. It’s fun to discover you don’t actually need all the sides to enjoy your meal!
🌞thank you, I found this very helpful. I like to keep a daily food diary (I buy pretty notebooks) and plan my day the evening before. It makes me accountable to my book. I can use the strategy of checking a restaurant menu the day before, making a smart choice and writing it in my diary.
☀️Love this Carla! Can you do some videos on maintenance? Maybe how to transition from weight loss to maintenance! I’m worried that once I reach my goal I’ll start to gain weight.
I know that I’m very easily influenced by seeing food ( even food ads or food shown in TV shows!) so I mute the ad, and look away while the food is being displayed. Seeing food on tv would make me want to hurry to the kitchen and get myself that food too. This has helped me a lot, in a avoiding those visual triggers that start me eating when I had not planned to.
☀️ Carla, your 1st Week Carla’s corner video Sept’23 was very inspiring. I am one of those that didn’t make much progress on first round on BodySlims, lots of travel. This is my second session with BS and I am giving it 100% this time. Thank you for this video. ❤
🌞🌞🌞 what a great video! My in-laws ALWAYS want to go to buffets and I never want to be rude, but I don't want to over eat either. These were great tips. Thank you!
I've come to realise that going out is a button I can't afford to press. 1st time I shared a french steak sandwich, after I wanted something for dessert and instead of sharing an ice cream scoop, we ended up buying 4 different cakes. Next time we went to by nuts and came home with 5 different kinds of chocolate and cake. Another time I wanted something healthy and ended up eating a full burger to myself sharing the chips. Basically, every time I go to eat out, or shopping, it goes wrong and then I lose a month of progress. I just spent this month getting the 1kg off I put on from going out. I've already cancelled xmas this year. No xmas food, except the turkey and veg of course, that's healthy and I enjoy it. I think for me eating out has to be a very infrequent treat and just try to curtail any over indulgence. I don't beat myself up about it, but it's frustrating when I put on 1kg or get thrown off plan for a long time, so it's kinda not worth it really.
Excellent video Carla! Another thing about drinking alcohol is it lowers our inhibitions and we do things, eat more...whatever. And hydration is key because it really does fill you up. Keep the wonderful tips coming! ☀
Love having all these great tips in one place - excellent! I sometimes allow myself to enjoy a Cappuccino (liquid calories, but within reason) when socializing. Since I normally drink my coffee black, it’s a real treat and I savor it! I’m a sucker for desserts and am most tempted when they are homemade. My husband kindly allows me to “share” a dessert with him, but I only take one bite (it’s always the best anyway) and he gets the rest. It can still be up to 100 calories, but far better than eating the whole thing!
This video is coming at a great time for me! I have a vacation coming up and with that always comes eating out. while yes I will be eating out, thankfully I planned and am able to also do less of it by going to buy groceries and make majority of my meals how I would at home (It actually is a great excuse for saving money as well😂) I knew i had a great start to planning but was still worried about these dining situations so this is super helpful! Thank you! ❤❤
Great points. Also take your energy level into account. We have a lot of summer birthdays, and sometimes I have what it takes to make and bring an extra cake with ingredients that I can have, and other times I just don't have the energy. Then I roll with it and have a small piece of regular cake. Either way is fine , I don't make it a big deal and that has really helped me along. (So different to how I used to be with all or nothing thinking.)
Perfect timing! I’ll be going out to Japanese Restaurant and I know I’ll go with Sashimi! Don’t open the menu & portion out on my plate quickly! Love love all your tips Carla! You look so gorgeous 😍
🌞 That is definitely something I’ve been working on, eating out and not using it as an excuse to eat with no regard to my deficit for the rest of the day, or daysss.🤣 What helps me the most is to log everything ahead of time in MyFitnessPal and try to work the rest of my day around it. I usually add a few grams of granola to my Greek yogurt after supper, well that is something I can chose to skip for the day that won’t make much impact. Finding small things like the granola, or creamer etc to skip will add up and make fitting in a special treat/meal much easier!
🌞Carla, you are the best! I want to let you know that you are always on my list when I do my 5 minutes of gratitude during my walks. You have changed the trajectory of my life. I'm on my 2nd cycle of BodySlims and rocking it. I love your analogy of it being a path and not a wagon. Brilliant! The restaurant tips are good too. I've done the ...pick my meal online before I get there trick already. It helps. Thanks for all you do!🌞
☀️❤ Thank you again Carla. Great tips! Wondering if this is one of the 9 videos you filmed in one day? ❤ I am down another 3.5 pounds by applying the knowledge you share. I cannot thank you enough for speaking truth. ( on a side note, I had gone to medical weight loss center and they wanted to sell me substitute meal shakes--made with high fructose corn syrup. I lost very little in the 7 months--no shocker. These were MD medical doctors!). I've had enormo us success by following your advice. ❤ Again--game changer and life saver. Thank you
Yeap!! It was Trish, well spotted!! And you’re doing unreal!! Well done to you. Anything that replaces your meal means a non sustainable maintenance. It disgusts me that Mds are profiting off our desperation
Dear Carla, thank your inspiration and your videos I am doing my 1st round on BS. I love it ❤❤❤ May I ask you a question? In your situation of maintenance, do still weigh yourself only once a week? May I ask on how many calories you are now with your new wonderful weight? Thank you for everything! 🎉🍀🌻🌞
Thank you Carla for this and all the other videos. Watching them made me sign in for BS and I am on my first round at the moment. I startet right during my holidays and this was the best decision ever. I have a question, I am looking for an oil spray. As most of them have negative reviews on Amazon, I wonder if you have an advice for me. Thank you, kind regards and I am looking forward to more of your great videos. The advice in this I liked most was about not looking into the menu 👍👍👍 Caroline

That’s amazing, well done to you!!
I try to remember to ask for a takeaway container as soon as they set my supper down so I can divide and remove anything I should not be eating
Thank you for this tips. I am going to PR for two whole weeks & then my father's in laws 80th birthday party. So this will definitely help me.

I did this too, I used to watch cooking shows/food vlogs salivating. I had to stop to be successful, now it doesn’t bother me anymore c
