Up until now, downhill longboarding was an almost 100% suicidal thing to do, but with functional brakes it's a whole different story. Also a lot of street laws require you to have a brake, this makes you ride legal.
This is the 2nd product Braille has featured that I actually want to ride! A month ago I got a 2swift because how could I not?! It's made in my area. And now the board break looks like such a quality product! It would really help my husband and I on our longboard adventures
I love braille! At first this sounded gimmicky but the execution on the design and function of these is so impressive! Far from a gimmick. I hope this blows up
it's a gimmick, and is nowhere near as safe as learning proper slides or footbrakes. In fact this will lead to people taking on hills they have no business trying, possibly hurting themselves and the image of downhill skating in the process. Learn to shut down slide, learn to slide left and right, and THEN safely take it to an open road when you're able to stay in your lane and not as the mercy of a finnicky brake. This is better suited to people trying to cruise around casually and disabled folks that can't safely learn to slide. They shouldn't be encouraging newbies to just send big hills.
IF whatever newbie out there decides to bomb a hill that they **know** they shouldn't be on, that's on them, not viberide. It's legit common sense, but at the same time, this world is full of those who lack it. @@OutlandishMojo
We have. There are like a dozen different longboard brakes over the last 5-8 years you could easily buy. This might be the nicest design though. Pogo. SVX. Frogstop. All come to mind
Had a rough fall going down a hill, and haven’t wanted to longboard for a while. After seeing this, I might get a brake or a board with a break to see if it instills the confidence back in me. I love braille and this was very fun to watch.
I doubt the design, considering that the brake is in the back you’ll be applying pressure thus weight on the back trucks. Wobbles mostly comes from the back truck and combined with this brake it doesn’t look very promising
@@danteneal5561 No, putting weight on the back truck creates wobbles. So just as you get wobbles you hit the brake, shift your weight back, and make it WORSE.

I love Braille. the brakes look like they could be the future of longboarding. could open up a lot of opportunities for people just starting out and experienced riders alike.
I Love Braille! This is actually one of the most amazing inventions I have ever seen. My friends and I used to bomb hills all of the time. Once we got older it became less appealing because of the speeds we would get on some hills. Having brakes is something that would certainly make me want to do it again.
You don't have to go downhill to have an awesome time on a longboard. I'm just cruising 99% of the time. On my daily commute there's basically just one hill that can be called "bombing", mainly because I have to take it in traffic.
Would be cool if you could put a small servo motor on the bottom of the board to activate the brake (controlled via a wireless hand grip that you squeeze to input varying levels of brake pressure) .. That way you could get rid of the manual lever on top of the board altogether.
I LOVE BRAILLE! This is great! My wife took a big spill long boarding a years ago, hurt her ankle, and got pretty banged up. I would love to long board with her again, but she is now she is afraid to get on a board with me. This is the perfect product to give her the confidence/sense of security for her to board again!
