    Have you used remote desktop apps in the past? What will you remote connect for?

      Very useful video. But how can I access a chromebook from an iPad? I had remote desktop on my Mac/iPhone with the old system and it worked nicely. Now it’s all just a mess, imo.

    • @camshand
      @camshand  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be able to get the Chrome Browser extension for the remote desktop app on a Chrome book. Then get the remote desktop iOS app on your iPad. Would operate the same way once you have the agent installed on your Chrome book

      Hey Cam. Will this work with a tablet? I want to give it to my mom. She is in a retirement home, and has Alzheimers. She also has problems with her manual dexterity. My goal is to get her a tablet or a laptop, and control it remotely, so that we can have zoom chats. I have a Macbook and an iPhone, so I am not sure if it will even work. Any suggestions? I call Amazon, and they don't know anything. The people from RCA say that their viking tablet/laptop will work, but I am skeptical. Any input would be greatly appreciated. My mom has to be secluded in her room, because of Covid, and she misses chatting with her family. Thank you.

    • @camshand

    Hey Cam. I'm looking for ways to turn on my PC from my phone in a secure way. is there a way to logg-in to windows from my phone? Does wake on LAN bypass loggin? I would rather not have all regular wakeups bypass login (e.g. in case my PC gets stollen).

    • @camshand
      @camshand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'd need a wake on Lan setup to trigger it to power on remotely when the magic packet is received.
      But to do this remotely, outside of your home, you need to have a router setup with port forwarding and to know your public IP address.
      Then you'll be able to setup a tool to wakeup a device on your private home network... Its for sure no simple task!
      Once it's woken up, you can use the chrome remote desktop to login, it runs at the login screen so you never have to set your PC to login on boot.

    I really appreciate this video tho gotta ask is there a Controller that works on your phone for the streamed PC games? For example I often use my iPhone to Remote Play my PS4 and use either my Gamevice Controller that plugs in via the Lightning Port and allows me to wirelessly play my PS4 anywhere like a Nintendo Switch. Or I use my SteelSeries Nimbus Bluetooth Controller and can use my phone in tabletop mode to play my PS4 from anywhere. Is there a Bluetooth controller I can use while Remote Playing my PC to my phone so I can play my PC games on my phone the same way I play my PS4 games on my phone? So far I tried the Gamevice, the SteelSeries Nimbus and the SteelSeries Stratus XL and none of them worked. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!

    It worked great! Sad part is that if your computer is connect to VPN it won't work...

    • @camshand
      @camshand  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should work, it'll just take a while for it to become discoverable again of you turn the VPN on whilst connected. Since the chrome remote desktop isn't IP based and more so dynamic, it should then find it's way back to Google's remote server on the VPN and become discoverable.
      Ive remoted in many times, then turned on VPN, had to wait about 15minutes, then could see my PC come up live fore remote access again.
      That was with PIA VPN though, but it should work eventually with others granted they're not blocking google servers 😊✌️

      don't think you can do that with chrome remote desktop, but windows 10 has a phone companion, and a windows dex app built in, so you can link your phone to your pc over the internet through microsofts phone companion, and control your phone that way remotely, or if you're using a usb connection, you can run samsung dex right through your pc, and have your regular pc desktop and your samsung dex desktop on your screen, which is pretty sweat. I tend to do that, just so I have everything on one screen while I'm working, and access to two different desktops on one screen does come in handy when I've got a lot of stuff going on.

    Im just wondering if the pc starts up on itself when you are away from home and want to use it. Does the pc needs to be on all the time?

    • @camshand
      @camshand  ปีที่แล้ว

      PC needs to be on for you to remotely connect. You can look into "Wake on LAN" as a way to turn on computers remotely but it can be tricky when not home
