It was an absolute honor being featured 🙇♂️ That being said, I will be placing a restraining order on you effective immediately 💋
Mike's mostly harmless but sometimes he likes to touch...
Lmaoooooo great response 😭
Also to clarify, I only do one chest day per week as my off-season focus has been legs and back (2X each) so my volume is more than I’d ever suggest for anyone who does it twice.
eric your leg press is absolutely insane

This guy is an absolute MONSTER holy shit.
And Erik is pretty big too
pls no matrubatora de cum cum
😂😂😂
I would love to see Mike critique some and then find out later that they are using his app.
@@special-s3376 He can tell if they use it or not i think like just their approach in bodybuilding would give it away since Mike's program is pretty gnarly and compact.
Such a flirt.
That leg press technique actually left my mouth agape. If your leg press ROM is limited by your legs running into your fucking shoulders, you know you're going DEEP.
its a technique that will leave you in a wheelchair rest of your life, anatomically thats not how your body is suppose to move with that much load, dont tell me this guy is doing just fine, ya he is doing just fine now, tomorrow he may not be.
@@yt_hatesfreespeech
what
@@yt_hatesfreespeech Look at his lower back at the bottom of the rep. He's fine.
@@ojamacuda9745 google leg press spinal injury
@@yt_hatesfreespeechhmmm, I don't know who to trust. The exercise scientist who just said that it's great technique or some blowhard in the comments. 🧐
It’s nice to see someone training effectively rather than putting in a show for social media. Genuinely inspiring.
I don’t know but I would say it’s quite the spectacle to watch him leg press especially! He says he keeps his arms out to the side’s because they’re too big and get in the way of his quads in his deep stretched position! I think that’s quite the show and he does it with 10 plates!
this is genuinely the most boring way to train for 99% of people, including me, if you enjoy it fair play but training like this is mostly for people who do this as a job, bodybuilders/influencers. Controlling every part of the movement and thinking about every cue/angle, speed e.t.c. isn't for me, i'll do it for drop sets only, more fun to just move weight through full rom and get stronger/avoid injuries.
@@moamed2006 Being purposeful and controlled on the eccentric especially is one of the best things you can do to prevent injury. Not to say that you should count the seconds or anything but not dropping the weight and lowering under control is a good idea.
@@moamed2006 you don't know that you don't what you're talking about
@@moamed2006 controlling and strengthening the entire ROM including the deep stretch position is exactly how you avoid injuries........
That was a perfect transition to the app. Well done
I was thinking the same! Paying Scott the video guy a little extra are we, Dr. Mike? About time!
That was insane, on par with Shaun of the dead
Sometimes I'm listening while I lift and I like to pretend Dr Mike is giving me the validation i never got from the father who was never there. Thank you Dr Mike for all that you do for this community
I’ve actually spoken to Eric, and he takes to you for a lot of information and guidance. When I asked him for help, he directed me to you. I hope this comment gets pinned because people won’t know otherwise really, and it’s pretty interesting. He’s a lovely guy too just to add - great dude you know
When he starts doing dips and Dr. Mike says “Holy crap”….. shits gettin real 😮
I figured you’d appreciate this bloke! His obsession with the deep eccentric stretch is something to behold 🙌
I heard your mom also likes it deep and stretched.
They've been friends for a long time IIRC.
what a genius transition there 7:38
Scott the Video Guy is on his game every video.
Yeah I just saw it while watching and came to the comments for it lmao
@@terrygraff8696I’m think it’s @MaxStrazny that edits the workout critiques
Eric has changed my style of training and I can tell I am so much more mobile and less sore from the gym. I can also see my muscles growing. I appreciate him for sharing and for Dr. Mike featuring it.
Underrated benefit from really milking the stretch is the flexibility gains lol.
@@mitch5944 It's actually mobility, which is superior to just flexibility
That cut to the RP app was slick
We NEED an Eric and Dr Mike workout collab.
This was by far the best critique on a video I've seen you do yet. I highly enjoy your videos.
Glad you did this vid Dr Mike. I like how Eric Janicki trains and his training looks much like what you preach! 👏🏽💪🏽 Solid critiques.
Don't sleep on those deficit pushups, I did them a few weeks back out of necessity because I was traveling and the hotel gym only had 50's, but SSSSSHHHHHEEEEESSSSHHHHH did those wreck my chest, the pump was insane as well. Definitely an underrated tool.
It's so rare that we see one of these videos where the guy knows what he's talking about that I almost didn't know what to do with this
My favorite video thus far. Great stuff Professor Mike! Thank you for your insight.
I’ve been waiting over a year for this! Get this guy on the channel!!
5:30 This is an important distinction when following advice from an advanced bodybuilder and a normie -- don't just follow the advanced guy because he's on the elite level which requires different methods. Newbies don't need to pre-fatigue themselves.
Yup, very seldom mentioned.
9:48 😂😂😂😂 I didn’t expect the Ice-T cut 😂😂😂
His lifting form is so satisfying, someone who finally stretches and pushes hard out of that depth
This feature & response is golden!! It'd be a blast to see you both in a video trading tips & jokes.
Eric as actually 6'1", which is, for bodybuilding, a huge frame to fill out.
Well, he certainly fills it out. WTF the dude is massive.
Yeah blessing and a curse! Thank you 🙏
@@ericjanickifitnessI’m 6”5” so feel your pain my digestive system definitely doesn’t like me lol
Oh my GOD S+ for this guy. I’ve never seen a better training session in my life
maybe nick walker
Absolutely god-tier self plug. A++
I love his channel, so glad critiqued him!
I also love it, but this episode felt more like Dr. Mike critiquing himself, rather than Eric. :)
The transition into the Hypertrophy App advert was masterful 😯 *scrolls to see previous comments* Glad to see others appreciated S-Tier video and sound editing 👍
Would love to hear your perspective on the knees over toes guy and the exercises his channel promotes!
Just found you recently fantastic videos, liked and subscribed. I’ve been lifting for 35 years and I’m leaning quite a bit from your videos thank you.
That app transition.. damn so good

mf do you even read the comments? what are your thoughts on maingaining
@@hughjass6022TH-cam automatically nukes any comment with links in it, but the 4th most recent video is pretty much that. "Maingaining" isn't well-defined, and Dr. Mike had talked about it, as there's two different ways to describe it:
1. You keep your fat% approximately the same while gaining muscle. That's basically bulking, but more specifically the clean variant where you still count macros. Eating any more than a small surplus will make you needlessly fat.
2. You eat the same number of calories while gaining muscle. This is also often called "recomping". It's somewhat effective if you're a beginner and fat, but otherwise you will have high energy demand because of exercising hard (resulting in increased hunger) while you will also not have enough energy to push yourself in exercises (resulting in injury and less muscle).
You can do #1, and this is what Dr. Mike advocates for while interpolating it with cutting and maintenance phases. But #2 is definitely not recommended, as your results will be worse both in terms of keeping fat off and in terms of building muscle.
mf do you even lift?

That was insane. Would love to see a collab between you two!
Nice positive critique Dr Mike - loving your videos mate
Never thought of the pre-fatiguing strategy. That's an awesome insight that I will be trying.
A bit advanced though since you have to be very careful with it like you are expecting yourself to blow up and you want to blow up big before you deload so you got to have a real understanding of your limits and when you are about to pop. My experience so far, my body can handle 5 weeks of 6x a week of gnarly workout before i start curling into a ball and questioning my life choices at night and a little bit restless as i get injured left and right @ week 6. I don't think i'll try this regularly, maybe sometimes when i can feel like my body can handle it coz this seems to be the type you don't to dip your cute little toe in every cycle. I don't really recommend a normal hooman being to go this far coz this is the border realm of the crazies and you got to be a little bit off your rocker to do this regularly.
Id love to see yall do something on Nick Bare. He is a bodybuilder and a marathon runner, which is a really interesting combination of two opposing sports.
And natty 😉
Exactly 😅
That was inspiring. Beautiful. And he seems so likeable as well!
I've been doing those dumbell pushups for quite some time...love them.
7:35 what an ad spot next level perfectly placed
Straightest video I think you've ever made
Pfff straight men don't wear tight BJJ shirts.

Mike in a previous video this guy said stretch/eccentric (time) isn't important, but here you are giving props for such technique.
Great Stuff!
The new set looks great !!
you 2 are my favorite. we need a collaboration video ASAP
I imagine getting through narrow doorways is a struggle

Very cool to see a good exemple! I absolutely love this series but many episodes almost end up being a roast (wich is extremely funny), this one was awesome! This guy is an absolute menace!
Amazing athlete. Didn't know, thanks for sharing his workout.
You should review Jordan Peters' training next.
oh yes
Dr. Mike, you said, "god bless" so many times in thus video that I feel like I may be able to skip church until Christmas and not risk my immortal soul. Thank you and god bless.
love that Matisse Leaf on the wall!
I am nearly fourty and have been following the sage teachings from Dr. Mike for about a year now.
This has opened up such terrifying vistas of weight lifting reality, and my frightful position therein, that I might go mad from revelation.
When I see the doctor, I click.
We need a face reveal for Scott the video guy at this point
He's tagged in some ig posts of Mike and RP
Careful when using a Leg Press like that with as much ROM. Your blood pression can go up x4 on this machine since you have the head lower than the legs.
Now I only use the hack squat, or do bulgarian splits squats. I would only use this press at the end of a leg session to finish off with lighter loads or 1-leg at a time. No more heavy sets, ever.
I had an accident with that. I used to go as low as possible (however I am not as flewixible and my knees would be more on my torso. At the bottom, it would compress my abdomen as I was performing a valsalva manoeuver to brace the core.
One day while doing a new PR, I experienced sudden headache on the back of the head, had a black veil about 2-3REPS before the end of my set and had to stop training. I never felt a pulsating headache like that and it was quite frightening honestly. I thought I had burst a pipe on my engine.
For 2 months my headache was coming back every time I would do some effort that made my blood pressure vary (workout, stairs, cycling uphill, pick up something on the floor, even sex) I tried once or twice to do some sport but felt my issue coming back and I didn't want to impact negatively my recovery.
Due to a disappointing medical journey , i first saw a GP that sent me to a physiotherapist, then angiologist and I didn't meet a neurologist until 6weeks after the injury so I didn't do MRI early enough.
They suspected some spasms on the veins, or something else but didn't really find the cause for sure
The most convincing explanation I found is a carotid artery dissection, which is not that uncommon, but risky enough to be one of the 1st things to check. It was probably overlooked or already healed enough when I saw the specialist.
Several conditions can weaken the blood vessel walls, but I think that in my case a bad combination of factors lead to the injury. (high load, compressed abdomen, blocked respirartion, head lower than legs)
In conclusion. I kinda liked that machine, but don't use it to do PRs or some Ego lift.
Even Dr. Mikes head got muscles , amazing content
F to pay respects
Gay energy in this video was out of this world
Thanks for introducing and reviewing a guy who does the movements correctly!
Eric is an absolute freak! And a super chill dude

Here’s the key, PEDs and train and eat and sleep . You will grow
Simple as. PEDs are a cheat code. My advice would be follow those who have not gone with the easy way out.
Honestly this is why i really don’t watch these videos. Training like these are for peds use.
At 55, I apply these principles as to prevent any injuries and yes, leaning down into it can apply to a few exercises and definitely the way to go. I actually enjoy how it feels to the muscle.
I love Erics technique. I watch him all the time
what the freak, big respect for going so hard with those deep stretches. Damn.
The Doctor keeps taking us to the ever-entertaining intersection where science meets comedy. I'm here for it 💯
Eric is an awesome bodybuilder, he does the right things and it pays dividends. A lot of pros these days have underdeveloped pecs so it's nice to see people do it properly.
Love Eric, and Dr Mike!
Monster. And wow, that leg press technique.
That edit into the RP Hypertrophy App ad was smooth as fuck. Excellent timing.
"V for Vendetta" out of nowhere cracked me up hahaha
The transitions into the RP app ads are genuinely funny
Loved this
I’ve been milkin my stretches too!
Hell yeah! Thanks Doctor Mike….💪🏼
Dude is insane... I wish I would have come across his stuff much sooner vs some of the others
Eric is arguably underrated. Based on the quality of his content and fitness advices, he should be over 1mill subs.
I'm not a bodybuilder but great channel and video. This guy really knows his stuff.
Eric is one of my top 3 Yt fitness channels
Eric is one of the coolest guys out there. Amazing texchniques also.
this guy is on next level HOLY COWW
Eric is the man. One of my favorite bodybuilders out there 🔥🔥👍🏾
Eric has grown exponentially over the years. His wife was originally a client of mine. We became colleagues and referred back and forth to each other. I knew Eric had potential, but he far exceeded my expectations. Good on him.
Gotta say the rp hypertrophy app plug transitions are getting better and better lol.
That App plug was very good.
this dude is an absolute beast
that transition to your app 👌
Those dips were insane!!!!
Wow Eric is an absolute beast. And seems like a really cool guy. I am thinking of getting a functional trainer and just putting my bench in front of it permanently for my home gym. I kinda hate messing with the bar and plates and stuff. Using cables for everything seems like a good way to go.
As always fact based training.........thank you ... Brian ......over in Scotland.
Niiice. Good stuff!
The smoothness of the insertion of the RP Hypertrophy app…
That pre-fatigue on the target muscle is the #1 tactic I've learned the last 2 years. Leg extension before squats, chest flies before presses, front and lateral raises before overhead press. The ONLY compound I cannot do this with is Romanian deadlift. It's actually very effective to do leg curls before RDL, but when I do leg curls first, I get hideous hamstring CRAMPS. Something about that maximum contraction when the Hams are not very warm is just a bad idea for. But I NEVER get Hamstring cramps from RDL. So I go backwards. RDL first and then I go do really cautious leg curls. Really, really cautious lol.
The segue into the RP advertisement was on a new level
It makes me feel very good that his rationale for doing flies first is the same as mine.
I have never seen anyone do leg press like this. But basically this is how you leg press
Great video framing
