From time to time, I'm forced to confront whatever last amount of sexism or racism or ableism that I can't quite root out of myself. Watching this interview was like that: Rosie gave a perfectly lovely interview, was very authentic, said nothing objectionable-- and yet the fact that she spoke in a manner that I would have found completely normal or even admirable in a male athlete, initially made me feel slightly uncomfortable. It took me until about the 8:20 mark before I recognized that the reason for my discomfort was due to lingering acceptance of societal norms that women should be humble and deferential. She's an excellent athlete, and I'm glad that she is comfortable being herself and letting her competitiveness and confidence shine.
wait shes so fascinating! I've never heard about her and am so excited to follow her now!
Watch the show! The episode about the women is the best of series in my book.
@@brettsuydam7457 @nadialatexana wow strap in cuz you're in for one hell of a rabbit hole. Kinda jealous that you'll be getting to experience all of wrexham afc for the first time!
Rosie's episode of Welcome to Wrexham is one of my favourites too! Great interview, Rog, as usual.
I have loved to watch her play!! I wish we could watch her games more without getting any subscriptions.
"I'm my own inspiration" is one of the greatest and healthiest things I've heard anyone say. The way she said it too. Not bragging, not puffing her chest - just the reality of growing up knowing what you want - and what you want goes against what society has laid out for you. Brilliant. Rosie is a hero.
Rog with another brilliant interview. Good luck to Rosie. 🙏🏾👍🏾 Courage.
“Why can’t the boys play netball and the girls can play football?” Brilliant statement!
She is very inspiring and I would expect Rob and Ryan will want to keep her in the fold, post retirement. It's all about the culture she has helped build.
Love Rosie! Interview more of the Wrexham AFC women
i love this new style of video yall are doing!!
Rosie is so unique, very much herself. Great to see! Roger is an excellent interviewer combining preparation along with flexibility. Always manages to produce magic moments.
Fantastic interview! Rosie is incredible! I love watching the women's games. Up the town!
Thanks for another excellent interview Rog. Truly a remarkable person with a unique story to tell.
Beautiful things happen to beautiful people. She is living proof.
Long may her football career continue. When she finally retires Wrexham should include her within their coaching staff. She's a great role model and truly inspirational.
Well done Rosie you're a star!
Wow ! What a great interview with a fantastic football player / amazing woman !! Thanks. Best of luck Rosie, my bet is you win the Cup 4 : 3 !!!
Legend!
Great video, but at 26:11 referencing that winning goal and the assist, you have shown a picture of the wrong Lilly 🙈
love the Die Hard reference.
The assist was from Lily Whitefoot✨- the picture you've shown 26 ISH mins in is of Lily Jones just a heads up!!
superstar!
Think the photo is wrong lily,it was lily whitefoot 38 that assisted the goal xx
Y love wrexham meu time do coração
Reynolds needs to get her in a room with Sinclair! CAN vs. USA exhibition at the Racecorse with Wrexham subs!
Famously, so many Brits struggle with cultural pessimism and self-loathing. Rosie not only brings the antidote of joy for Wrexham’s fans by scoring goals galore, she also models positivity and healthy attitudes that create emotional health, especially for women and you young girls! In the ‘lad culture’ of Brit soccer, she plants a flag of wellbeing for everyone!
didn't see this channel ! am subbed to men in blazers and wrexham afc! this is a real treat! are there any rules for a woman in the men's game? should there be?
subbed :)
Erling Haaland scored 9 goals for Norway in a 12-0 win against Honduras at the U20 world cup
Why is she the only woman on the team that tucks in her shirt? Noticed it a long time ago and can’t figure it out
Is the reason she hasn’t been called up to the national team just age?
the talent level at the national level would really help her shine
The clue is the bit where she says "I'm a goalscorer, I just need the team to feed me the ball" - she's exaggerating somewhat, but that's a playstyle that has only worked in a lower league. If you watch any of her matches, she's only really effective against lesser teams (Barry, Ponty) where the defense has no physicality or pace, otherwise she gets nulled out quickly - she barely touches the ball against a Cardiff; she also doesn't contribute in building an attack, she rarely goes back to help to defend, she doesn't look up when she passes, doesn't assist... You can't live in an ivory tower on the a national level.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she's inspiring kids and getting recognition, but a WSL defense (which is where the Wales national team is honed) is more than a league above.
