honestly yes and the transformation is cool but for me i just don't like his design as a whole. i don't like beast machines series too because my favorite rattrap don't look cool to me. but it's just my taste. happy to see some people like it and i don't discredit anything. like i said it's not just my taste.
The rat mode looks really show-accurate. The robot mode, not so much. It's really funny that Rattrap's transformation starts at the rat's butt, and quite frankly, I don't think Rattrap gives a rat's ass.
Funny thing is I thought Rattrap's silly BM design would make a fun OC for me to photoshop since in my unpopular and controversial opinion, I was a sucker for robots with wheels for legs lol.
I collected from late '99 through '08 and took a break. Watching your videos has been a walk down memory lane, especially since my figures were lost in moves (to be honest, I just didn't care about them enough to find storage, something I now regret. It also didn't help that while I have boys, they never were really into Transformers.). I remember desperately wanting this figure since he was in a later wave and all of the other 1st season characters had been out for a while. In fact, I'm pretty sure he came out the same time Blast Punch Optimus did. The biggest problem was that the characters "morphed" on the show and actually had to physically transform on the show. While animators can take some liberties with the transformation, usually they stay somewhat close to the toy (if it's available at the time). The second problem is that the toys are way off on the show size classes. Sigh.

I saw this figure at a used toy store recently. I think it looks a lot better in person, and I always liked all the technorganic Maximals. I might just pick him up.
It's kinda like the Jetstorm drone and Thrust, they are there purely so the toy can stand on it's own, while in the show, they didn't need them because Jetstorm and his drones flew, and undoubtedly Thrust and Rattrap had brakes to stop them falling over.

i actually it quite a bit, though given how small he was supposed to be in the series(yeah one could say the same about that huge waste of plastic nightscream was) i wish they made an smaller version, at this point, the closest thing we will ever get is that comic only repaint of prime rumble,, XP although it would be a good exclusive, i like the coloros, damn even a generations rattrap repaint would work for me
I like this figures because it can hide the rat head, so when it transform to robot, it become robot in disguise. But I hate its open spinal cord, just as if the rat has opened wounds.
It wasn't a bad toy. But the size scale was terrible for all of them. Primal should have been a mega or order Siverbolt, Botanica, and Cheetor should have been voyager Rattrap and Night Scream should have been deluxe Hasbro had NO IDEA what they were doing with this line

... In Beast Mode, Rattrap's 'bot head is by his bum. That is so wrong. Rattrap's design was one of the big fails (as opposed to the smaller ones) of Beast Machines. Given that his beast mode had unusually dexterous hands for a "rat", he might as well have had a vehicle mode instead.

He had them in the show. Probably to serve as a progression of his wheeled vehicle mode on his Transmetal body.
