    IN the 70's when I worked for my brother... we moved 2 3500 bu bins 10 miles......We hired a logging Helicopter that was working in the area for $500.....Took about an hour.... We did it one Sunday morning Quite a sight to see the helo coming across the trees with the bin hung under neath.......His sling had a quick release He could put more logs on the deck than 25 trucks could haul away

    I wish someone thought of small movable bins down here. I could use one or two. It may take me a few years to need the tens of thousands of bushel storage capacity.

      Yea that is the one good thing about them... I can move them from other peoples farms no problem.

    I see a advantage to this new steel base more capacity you just made the bin at least a foot taller

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes... These are just 10 inch rise floors... we have a few with the bin booster floor.. they are 2 feet high.

    Why not pour cement with rebar? We have a 4000 bushel 21 ft diameter bin too close to the milk room septic drain field that the original concrete floor settled over time and 2 inch wide cracks opened up about 1 1/2 ft inside from the walls. So my brother & i poured a ordered cement mix with fiberglass fibers & lots of rebar. It fixed it good. The water table water was wicking up through the cracks, up through the corn all the way to the top of the grain bin. 4 inches thick rotten corn stuck to the walls enough to fill 1 new holland manure spreader full every year. But i've seen worse! My very very green neighbor crop farmer, when he first started farming filled an entire 48'x150' pole shed with 30,000 bushels 18%+ moisture corn one winter up into the rafters and it all spoiled turned black/brown!

      I would pour cement on a big bin... but these are just 14 round bins...I can move them in the future or sell them if we build a bigger one.

    We bought 3 westeel-roscoe bins from a neighbor and put them on steel floors we bought in Estevan, Saskatchewan. They came with self tapping screws to fasten the bin to the floor. Where did you get your floors at?

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought them at a auction... The menonites made them

      Bought them at a auction. There are lots of manufactures that make them in Ab and sask

    Wouldn't it be ideal to have a few mid sized stiffened bins to avoid a bin collapse?

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They only collaspe when they dont have stiffeners

    I c the bins sit on the ground an not having a footing built up or on a concrete pad to allow for rain an snow to stay away do u get much spoilage or moisture in the bottom of them bins?

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the steel floor there is no moisture to get in ... Thats why they are so much better. That why Wood sucks.

    I've always wonder why you guy have bunch a small bins, and not a few bigger ones. I'm sure there is a reason for it just wanted to know.

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right... I hate them... They are so 80s haha. The only good thing is they are easy to move to the farm when you buy them... dont need special permits to road them. But yea way to small. I want to build two 15 thousand bushel bins.

    How many bushels do those bins hold?

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are 2000 bushels approximitly. Depends on the crop to... Usually you can fill one super b with one.

    lol,,it's gonna hold water,,that's that tire lifting method,,you got lucky,lol,,crush those side walls that way,,danger,danger,Northern Farmer you better tar the heck out of it,,hope the best ,expect the worse.

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      wow,,ain't gonna doubt you,,and you never sealed it? God Bless the Farmer!!

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats the beauty of them.. they wont leak cause they are off the ground

    • @MrMarkar1959
      @MrMarkar1959 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok,,but when rain run down the side of the bin,,you would have to seal around the seam,,or water would seep in. We TAR the heck out of new bins,,all internally,,before floor installation,,CAULK around door seam, I suppose I really didn't get the whole picture. Didn't see a pad,,unload auger,fan, and I am no expert at all,,built ?dozen + new MFS, from 30 to 60 ft,,8 -22 ring , all new stuff,,feed mills,,legs,,service old. Like I said before,,hope the best,expect the worst,,and GOD BLESS THE FARMER. Ya'll have a Blessed Season,,for the next 100 Generation's. thanx for the small talk.

    • @Northern_Farmer
      @Northern_Farmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It cant because the bing slides over on the outside of the floor... this way water cant get in...
