I used your settings in a JD 9500 corn special...that is a 9500 with a 9600 motor from factory and added wear components. My dad didn't want to deviate from the bible behind the seat. What a difference. Faster, cleaner and less corn in the tailings. In fact I was going to try removing the bottom sieve from the combine this fall. We run 100% corn acres and corn on corn for almost 18 years in some fields. Bought a 700hr S680 and will try some of this theory this harvest

New farmer here, I like watching your videos and learning anything I can. Hope to add a 1688 or a 2188 to my shed soon!

Andrew Duff We’ve got 2188 and it works like a charm.

That’s what I’m going to try and find a decent priced 2188 even a 1688 if that’s all that’s around.

I have 1460 with upgraded fan is the speed and volume the same as original paddle fan?

At a CaseIH combine clinic, the speaker said it is better to set the front part of the sieve to half the setting of the middle so that you spread the grain out and clean with the more of the middle sieve, which also helps from slugging the fan with grain. Your thoughts?

2 year old comment but this is exactly what we do. Steep hills for us so it’s important that we do this.

Would this theory on leaving the bottom save open fully work on setting for soybeans as well? Thanks

Cobs should never be broken up that small if your rotor speed and concave is set correctly.

    How about wheat?

On red combines, they sell a deep tooth chaffer and a small tooth chaffer. If all you're going to do is cut wheat, you could install the small tooth chaffer. There are some considerations here... Please call Marion at (309) 368-1182 for further questions.

    How about beans in 2188

Joe - Marion recommends this same adjustment regardless the color or model of the machine. If you have further questions, feel free to call Marion directly at (309) 368-1182. Thanks!

Don't bother with the Deere-it'll throw out seed regardless.
