Hey Remy! Just a quick question regarding the seat post: why did you shim it down to 170mm? I see there's enough space left above the seat clamp to use the full 180mm. I'm just curious what's the reason behind this. 🤓✌

Passed by the Propain booth at Sea Otter today, but got so hooked on looking at the bikes, I completely missed saying hi to you and thanking you for all these great and inspiring videos. Keep rockin it! Cheers from Santa Cruz!
Seat tube length is still a bit too long, 450mm on size L. I wouldn't be able to use droppers longer than 170mm. Would be nice to have a tool case in the downtube like Trek, SantaCruz and Orbea cut in. I don't like external tool mount because everything is getting covered in mud and dust. Flip chip is nice. Also, would be nice to see geometry tables for all the possible combinations. At the moment there are only recommended options on the website. Headtube cable routing is OK. I don't maintain my bikes so frequently that it could become a major problem. The best improvements are geo, fixed cables near the rear wheel and mullet options. Also, I like the fact it uses 160 fork and 210*55 shock. Theoretically I can order a frame and migrate almost every component from my current bike to the new tyee
Yes, no more brake hoses below the bottom bracket! This whole thing was weird anyways, that decision was criticised so it was changed for the spindrift but not for the tyee. One of the reasons I went with the spindrift!
Looking forward to purchase bike in months. Got really hooked when i can modify my own components and aesthetic on it. The price seems reasonable but I don't know.
@@LucasDunne_mtb Everytime you want to service the headset or replace the bearing you have open the brake line, cut the shifter wire and loosen the the dropper cable. you'll need a new shifter wire, bleed the rear brake and fiddle the dropper cable back in. also you'll have to service the headset a lot because you have a hole in there where water runs in.
I had the same question. I guess you need to remove the hose from lever when replacing HS bearing? A bit of hassle. Hose attachment isn’t design to be screw and unscrew many time. How are the seals on the HS caps? Any decent? I guess time will tell. It will be nice to have a long term review from you with tips on maintenance. Thank Rémy! Keep up the great job and Ride! 👊

If it's the perfect bike, then the next one can't be any better, or will be even worse :D
Previous bike was great, so of course the improvements were not going to be massive, but to me they are significant and I can really tell when riding: geometry, support, rigidity and all the little details.
Easy to hate on stuff. Having just set up the old model I see a lot of advantages here that I wish I had on the Tyee I just put together. No mess ups in my view.
I am with Remy on this. XT is cheap (relatively), simple, and reliable. You can get the top of the line transmissions but I just don't feel like money spent here has a high return. It is absurdly rare that I am riding and wishing I could have shifted a bit faster or firmer. In return I get a super reliable and easy to setup drivetrain that doesn't cost near as much initially or if something does get sacrificed to a rock.
Remy you ride an M with 170cm? I am 179cm with 85cm inseam length and 62,5 arm lenght. Would you recomand me an M or L in Mullet? I would use the Tyee as an Allrounder (Park/Trail/ Enduro Racing/Uphill...)🔥❤️
@@remymetailler I know, i allready did a big research. M with a 455 Reach is to short for my opinion and L a little to long. But i think L would fit better.
@@remymetailler Oh I thought it comes in pieces 😄 That nonsense is not a pain in the a** only when building up the bike. Acros says you should regularly, whatever that means, service the headset. I have the Alu 2020 as well. Heavy and burly, perfect for a big and clumsy guy. The key point is that it pedals very well even with the coil shock, with very good middle travel support. With coil-like air shocks, with a large negative pressure chamber it works awesome too, and it is lighter. I alternate between the coil RS Super Deluxe ultimate and the air CaneCreek Double Barrel Airline and could not be happier.
