I grew up on this song but also had no feelings to it just remembered mom singing and dancing to it. In highschool it got me thru my first heartbreak when I finally understood the lyrics. Years later I finally caught that he was talking about a new girl’s smile when he was talking about his heartache. It was that day that I finally got over my trust issues and committed to finding love no longer fearing the possible heartache. And now I’m happily married to the love of my life and this song played at our wedding.
