Thanks for doing a series on slang! I like it because it's something that's hard to pick up without being native or talking to locals. And if you just google it, you never know if they are outdated or not!

    Hehehe..."xếp hình", I love that one :-D
Question - Ms. Tú says "mà sao bà biết dạ?". "bà" is used for an older woman, is it normal to use that with a guy who's close to your age?

bà can also use for your close friend (super bestfriend xD)

@@jacquestuan I don't think so, bà when using for male which mean he is gay, and you need to use for close friend. But if the person who talking to is female and she is gay too, you don't need to call them ông just bà.

@@atuttsolkvakidtun9991 Hehe...that makes more sense, gender / identity-wise. I didn't feel like calling my best friend bà would work the same way.

In spoken vnmese on streeet, I guess it's more common using words: "đụ, địt, chịch", isn't it? Kinda of thô tục though :)

Is there someone busy with a drill doing construction work in the background? What's that sound?
This was a funny lesson by the way.

They film in HCM...if you've ever been there you would understand haha :)

Allen Lindow not just HCMC. Vietnam is rapidly developing so there are construction sites everywhere. Tourism is a huge part of their local economy so many hotels and resorts being built. Should answer your question of whether I have been there too. Reason I asked was that it also sounded like maybe a sound problem itself which if it was they could have fixed. I wasn’t exactly sure if it was power tools.

@Bao Do I agree with you about his English, no problem understanding it, and like you pointed out, it is a Vietnamese lesson so the focus should be on his Vietnamese and not his English.
