Part of Larry’s trash talk is *because* he likes riling up opponents to make them go all-out against him. He got *bored* if the other team wasn’t giving it their all . Lol
As the ultimate humiliation, on two consecutive regular possession, LarryBird took shots from just inside the half court line. One was an air-ball. He looked at the guy guarding him and asked if he knew the difference between himself and this man. The man looked at him, bewildered, and LarryBird said, “I took those shots and I’m still in the game, now you try”
Well, yeah they are both such fierce competitors even as friends now he can't help but remind the younger man that no matter what he accomplished Jordan never brought Bird down.
There are few things better than Jordan's statement when Bird announced his retirement. Jordan's statements were the types of statements that guys that are lifelong friends from grade school say to each other. Cursing him and giving shit the whole way. It was beautiful.
funny add on for McHale's record night, one of McHale opponents was a guy Larry had a run in while under Bobby Knight, and Kevin was owning the guy so Larry made it a point to feed Kevin the ball. Bird got the assist breaking his own record before reclaiming against Atl
I was 7 years old at my first game - Family season tickets 25 years. Things got bad for the Celtics for a few years and then came Larry Bird and the introduction of the three-point shot. @@JamesWilliams-dz5tnI love that story ! And you had no idea at that time that Larry and Magic would not only save the NBA but become like brothers. Thank you for sharing this video! I liked your comment = hey Larry, get back here - get him a uniform!! I also liked the "you did all that running for nothing" Also a favorite has to be to Craig Hodges " I hope your mother is not watching this". I read somewhere that Bird told the opposing team late in the game during a real cold weather spell " You guys better go out and start your cars to warm them up because this one is over". If someone would tell me "Rainbow, trainers lap," and then hit that long three pointer while getting fouled and knocked into the trainers lap, Id probably jump up too. Thats not trash tallk, thats supernatural.
Problem is, nobody could stop him. Larry Bird has the ball around the paint, only thing you can do is hope he misses. People forget he came into the league as a power forward for his 1st 4 years until McHale became a starter.
8:42 The 1989 3 pt shootout, Larry was in the middle of missing an entire season after surgery on both achilles (the video just says it was an early back injury- that's very inaccurate). The league probably begged him to go try a few shots because he had won the first 3 contests they held, this was the 4th, and they were probably upset that he was injured 1:06 Jordan's first 8 yrs, Larry must have lived inside Mike's head. This clip is just after the bulls beat the pacers by only about 5 points in game 7. Conf final, i think, and Larry was the coach, with Jordan giving him credit for giving them a run for their money
Btw, that 4th 3pt contest? Larry was signed up to compete but WITHDREW during warmups. He WASNT officially a participant. If you look it up you’ll see he’s not even in the roster.
🍀33 the Legend, my man! (on the ground). All legendary stuff he did, MJ did it in the air. MJ flew over the court, i don't know why he was even running😂! If you want to declare a goat in a team sport, there will never be a debate imo. There is only one MJ❤. Bird is just my legend!
You JUST demonstrated why Larry was so lethal to opponents on the court. He could say one thing and get you totally focused on him instead of YOUR JOB. You might hold him down a bit in scoring but A. he was good enough to get around that and still score well. B. have you so mad you weren't effective in what you were supposed to be doing so you wouldn't be as effective and might let your team down and cost them the game. And he did all that without screaming and hollering, he'd be calm and matter of fact with you. He was a genius at getting under people's skin and messing with their minds. He'd even mess with college dudes like Jordan he figured he'd see in a year or two in the NBA to plant seeds in their minds before they even got to the pros. That coach fined them each $3000. Remember these guys weren't making the millions that today's players enjoy. It was good money to play a game but it wasn't so great that 3k wouldn't hurt and teach a lesson. Don't be all that amazed at the left hand story even though it's real and he was right handed - he messed up his right hand the summer before entering the NBA and never quite had the same feel with it so he not only worked his way back to excellent with a messed up hand he also increased how good he was with the left. I think his demonstration at 60 was just his way of showing the players that here's an old man with a bad back that could still do that kind of thing and sort of putting it in their faces that they needed to work harder.
Nobody has made more of an impact like Larry bird did in the 13 years he played and Larry Bird is the GOAT. Not MJ. And the following is true about Larry Bird. Larry birds timeframe played 13 seasons in the NBA and what is impressive Larry missed nearly an entire season for bone spurs in his heels and played just 105 games in his last two campaigns due to his bad back. Those last two NBA seasons, 1990-91 and 91-92, were painful to watch, as Bird had to lie on the floor at times to ease the tension on his aching back. Years later, doctors explained the lengths they had to go to just to get Larry Legend on the court, and after hearing that, you won’t believe just how painful the whole situation was for him. Larry Bird infamously hurt his back doing something perfectly on-brand for the humble Celtics superstar, building a driveway for his mother by himself in 1985. And while the back injury affected him for the last seven seasons of his career, it truly became a problem starting in 1988. By the 1990s, Bird “had lost the structural stability of his spine,” according to his orthopedic therapist, Dan Dyrek. “It would slip into abnormal positions to try and lock itself to get an artificial stability.” The pain for the Celtics star was intense. Dyrek compares his spinal issues to “getting your finger stuck in a door, and somebody’s still pushing on the door.” Despite the pain, Bird did whatever he could to play, even while wondering whether he was doing long-term damage that would affect his quality of life in retirement. But he did it because, as he learned from his father years before, “If you get paid to go to work, you gotta go to work.” So, during the last two years of Bird’s career, Dyrek and his counterparts would go to extreme measures to get Bird on the court. “What we had to do was unlock his spine, realign it, [and] do techniques that would hold that for four hours, six hours, that type of thing, and then he’d go play basketball,” Dyrek explained. And while Larry Bird now admits he “probably should have retired in ’88, ’89,” he says the competition and hopes of one more NBA Finals showdown with Magic Johnson kept him going. www.sportscasting.com/larry-bird-doctors-unlock-spine-before-games-end-career/ and Larry Bird injured his shooting hand in a bar fight during the 1985 Eastern Conference Finals www.sportscasting.com/larry-bird-involvement-bar-fight-cost-celtics-1985-nba-finals/ which shows how much heart, love and dedication Larry had for the game. And There will never ever be a player like Larry Bird again. What an insult to Larry bird, His legacy, His accomplishments and the pain he endured and still did all that he did. Have you watched "Larry Bird highlights '85/86 prime". And to see the humbled Larry"a legend in green"!. He is my🍀33. But i know there is never one and only🐐!
Bird is my favorite player to watch. But how do you measure greatness in a no excuses world? By No Excuses I mean: 1. No injuries are brought up for "if he hadn't. 2. No Eras are brought up, like "well he played when there were only ten teams so the talent pool was not diluted by washouts from Europe" or "he played when there were fifty teams and everybody not in a wheelchair could be a twelfth man" 3. No Money talk is involved. "Guys back then had off-season jobs as barbers or plumbers." Guess what? Before the 1980s ALL run of the mill pro athletes had off-season jobs. Only superstars like Mantle or Jim Brown or Bart Starr or Havlicek or Off.or Bill got big bucks and then only if they were in media towns. 4. No Media Town Excuses. No New York or Los Angeles bias. History would have you believe that baseball has been the same since Babe Ruth put on a YANKEES uniform and the National League only began when the Brooklyn Dodgers ended segregation by signing Jackie Robinson. Football was cute but the first REAL teams were the Jets and the Giants. Hockey? Isn't that pro-am? The NBA? Only cavemen played it until Willis Reed and the Knicks won in 1970. THEN basketball REALLY started! That team that won a zillion in a row until 1969? The average height of a center was five-three! Humans didn't become modern until 1970, a whole year later!! Same year color was INVENTED. True! Colors were only invented in 1970. When Wilt played for LA in 1969 he was four-eleven and could not run. Running wasn't allowed in the NBA Until 1970. True story! When the Lakers finally won in 71 or 72 he had grown five more feet, ran a two minute mile, and could spring a marathon. True! 5. Racial segregation not allowed. Sorry. The NBA ALWAYS was integrated. First black player drafted was Chuck Cooper of Boston. First team to have integrated housing on the road was Boston. First team to start all 5 blacks was Boston. First team to have a black head coach was ...do I have to say.it? Boston in 1967 With Bill Russell as player-coach. 6. No excuses for sports medicine advancements. 7. No excuses for great teammates. If a guy isn't in the Hall of Fame as his own man, no excuses. He doesn't make the cut. 8. No active players because Lance Armstrong ruined that. I mean, you never know. Steph Curry? Probably great but let's wait until all the shouting is over. Thanks for that, Lance. ___________________________________________________________ There is one man who proves that you cannot make excuses. Tom Brady'. Was he live or was he Memorex? It was all Belicheck. Until Tom went to the worst team in the NFL and won another Super Bowl at 43 against the Michael Jordan of football. Sorry, Patrick, not until Tom says so. ____________________________________________________________ So here are the greatest basketball players in history. Bill Russell has 11 rings. Also two consecutive NCAA rings and a Gold Medal. He is ridiculous. Sam Jones has 10 rings Tom Heinsohn John Havlicek Satch Sanders KC Jones all have 8 rings. Havlicek has 6 with Russell and 2 without Russell. Doesn't matter. Frank Ramsey has 7 rings. Bob Cousy Bill Sharman Don Nelson Kareem Abdul Jabbar Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen. All have six rings Magic Johnson A Laker or two A Celtic or three all have 5 rings. A bunch of Celtics and Lakers have 4 rings. A Bull or two. I lost my book for the moment but anyway these guys I named are l in the Hall of Fame. You could put together a great team out of the four or more winners. Hell, you could put together a great team out of these guys. Hell, you could put together a phenomenal team just out of the Celtic great. So...what do you think of the No Excuses Greats? I can honestly say that you can opine that if it were I for injuries..... But the word if HAS to be used. Reggie Lewis and Len Bias both died far too young. But they Do YOU know a better way? I don't. And Bill Russell never lost a game 7 of a seven game series. Watch game 7 of the NBA finals. It was on TH-cam forever. Guess it still is. In an uncertain and unfair world how do you measure greatness in a game where the only game change since 1957 was the 3 point shot. Go ahead and count ABA titles. And George Mikan s Minneapolis Lakers. When the Celtics beat the Lakers in 1984 in a 7 game series of Apocalypse Now, Bill Russell called Larry Bird and congratulated him. " You played the game as we played it, as Men and as Celtics. I'm so proud of you guys." That was the most beautiful thing I ever heard in the NBA. RUSSELL SAID ESSENTIALLY THE SAME THING IN L A AFTER GAME 7 IN 1969. WHEN HE COULD STOP SOBBING LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE WORDS OUT. ASK THE PACERS ABOUT LARRY BIRD AS A COACH OF THE PACERS, COACHING GUYS HE PLAYED 100 PER CENT AGAINST.
@SOLID It's nice to see your videos again, I missed you. Do you like football (soccer)? I know a lot of legendary soccer players and maybe that would make you want to discover this sport in more detail.
@@SolidReacts Yes, I can put some videos. Do you prefer goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders or attackers? And first I can show you past legends then I will send you a video of Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (R9) for example.
@@SolidReacts ok, that's work. To start with defenders I' will send you some videos of those players (Beckenbauer, Maldini, Baresi...) and for attackers it will be Pelé, van Basten, Batistuta, Romario, George Best, Ronaldo (R9)...).
I start with Franz Beckenbauer (considered as the best defender of all time) : Video : Franz Beckenbauer ● Unreal Skills In World Cup ||HD|| Footage That Will Shock You!

And my reply? 'I know I ugly BUT I'm still moa handsome than you!' Miss him. I don't know if either of us will get to Heaven but it'll be a battle 😂.
I M sorry that my keyboard thinks it knows what is best for me. In discussing big bux superstars I mentioned Off and Bill. My brain was telling my fingers to type the two 60/70s NHL stars Bobby Orr and Bobby Hull. Of the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues. My keyboard said...no, Jack. Sorry. Still want to hear from you. Hey!! Like I said, Bird is my favorite player to rewatch. He's funny and I saw him destroy Nique in an 88 game 7. Fourth Quarter. They went at each other one on one. Bird 20 Nique 16. Dominique should have kicked Karl Malone's butt off the 92 dream team. So Isaiah should have dumped Stockton. Personally hated by the entire NBA doesn't mean he didn't have the talent. But greatness? I made my no excuses list. What excuses should be added?

8. No active players because Lance Armstrong ruined that. I mean, you never know. Steph Curry? Probably great but let's wait until all the shouting is over. Thanks for that, Lance.

There is one man who proves that you cannot make excuses. Tom Brady'. Was he live or was he Memorex? It was all Belicheck. Until Tom went to the worst team in the NFL and won another Super Bowl at 43 against the Michael Jordan of football. Sorry, Patrick, not until Tom says so.

So here are the greatest basketball players in history.
Bill Russell has 11 rings. Also two consecutive NCAA rings and a Gold Medal. He is ridiculous.
Sam Jones has 10 rings
Tom Heinsohn
John Havlicek
Satch Sanders
KC Jones all have 8 rings. Havlicek has 6 with Russell and 2 without Russell. Doesn't matter.
Frank Ramsey has 7 rings.
Bob Cousy
Bill Sharman
Don Nelson
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen. All have six rings
Magic Johnson
A Laker or two
A Celtic or three all have 5 rings.
But they
Do YOU know a better way?
I'm so proud of you guys."
That was the most beautiful thing I ever heard in the NBA.
MJ=god, larry=Jesus
The comment from Rodman, if he was black, he would be just another good guy! Imagine Larry was black! He would destroy the league even more😂!❤
@SOLID It's nice to see your videos again, I missed you. Do you like football (soccer)? I know a lot of legendary soccer players and maybe that would make you want to discover this sport in more detail.
I’ve seen it but never been able to sit and watch it maybe I need to got any video for me to check out
@@SolidReacts Yes, I can put some videos. Do you prefer goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders or attackers? And first I can show you past legends then I will send you a video of Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (R9) for example.
@@Volginius defenders attackers
@@SolidReacts ok, that's work. To start with defenders I' will send you some videos of those players (Beckenbauer, Maldini, Baresi...) and for attackers it will be Pelé, van Basten, Batistuta, Romario, George Best, Ronaldo (R9)...).
I start with Franz Beckenbauer (considered as the best defender of all time) :

C'mon people. There are 7000 views and only 500 or less likes. At least acknowledge a good video when you come across it!
Appreciate it
Bird and Magic were good friends, but extremely competitive on the court! Celtics vs Lakers was a big draw in their era!
The Pacers made the Finals once but lost in game 7 to the Bulls. Bet you know that Bird was their coach :)
You could never guard Larry Bird , never , never , never ,if some of the greats couldn't do it , you damn sure couldn't ,
It's, what I think, is the ultimate alpha man love. I have a ball buddy...had❤, and he would come to my house, pull up in front-no respect😂 and yell out his window-'Ehhhh you ugly faka, you home?' And my reply? 'I know I ugly BUT I'm still moa handsome than you!'
Miss him. I don't know if either of us will get to Heaven but it'll be a battle 😂.
Nice reaction my brother
Dude, that's why bird did it. He messed with their game...he wore them OUT!
They rarely show the first one and when they do they cut it off
Trash-talking doesn't make you the goat that's what Michael Jordan is and this debate is not even close
Swept twice. Some goat
GOAT"S GOAT
Hahaha lethal larry
Check out Magic and Larry Bird's Mom.
Larry is easy top 10 in the history of the game.
Please react to fifteen minutes of bird is the word
So, you could stop Larry Bird?
Hell nah lol but I’m try my heart out
Less over talking and just let the video play. I can't watch anymore after 2 minutes.
Glade you came by hope you find a channel you enjoy
Won't be watching you again , you talk to much
