      The power of opensource. Imagine that Microsoft decides to make MS Paint opensource as well. Some programmers will pick it up and ad some more features to make it less crappy. After some more years more users will pick it up and so do more programmers. Within a mather of time a whole comunity would make Paint a worthy competitor to Photoshop. Because that is how open source works and why i love it.

    I have Blender installed. But I struggle with it because I am so used to using C4D. I feel like there are only so many hours in the day, week, month, etc, and so many hours left in my life that to spend them learning an entirely new3 package is painful (even if it's better). C4d user won't hate this video. We are looking into alternatives where c4d is weak at. Maya is awesome, Max is inspirational. I say blender is the new kid on the block. He learns fast and adapt fast and is friendly and helps freely where the other big bros on the block chage a buck or two. The annoying thing is the hotkey are so different and I know there is the switch to c4d kinda hotkeys but when you follow along with tutorials that does not help. I wish blender was better at following industrial standard w, e , r , t and alt keys and middlemouse button from the start.

    Blender has come a long way. As a long time 3ds max user I'm amazed of the stuff available in Blender 2.8 still missing in expensive software like 3ds.
    Multi object modeling, multi object unwrapping, vertex parenting, bendy bones, sculpt, grease pencil, volumetrics, best ipr in any 3d software, best and most custumizable UI I've used, nondestructive bolean - array and chamfer modifiers, best node editor I've tried, great rigging tools too and let's not forget EVEE. Libertim Produções ok great. Still I state that at the time of this review it was not included.
      Blender (other 3d software as well of course) has always had a strong “modding” community.
      Still if we look at products from starter pov it think it’s important to base it on what is included as default. Many users that want to start out with 3D is not so technical.
      I think this I the area Blender now is advancing most. The UX is more standard and simpler. Without sacrificing to much of speed out workflow.
      And with the extra focus and funding I think Blender will be a very well balanced product both on features and UX (and I mean even without a lot of extra add Ona so just deafault Blender) un say 3 years.
      I just started using it. Have given some tries over the years but it has to much UX differences from other products so I did not feel giving it that time.
      Now with 2.8 i directly got in with little effort.
      I hope to be able to contribute with UX feedback / reports and maybe even some code to push.
      Like there is still many small legacy details (say how cursor states is handled is very inconsistent) maybe those small things is not super important but I always feel the devil is in the detail. And with more UX designers contributing to the product the more coherent and easy to learn and quick to use product we will have. :)

But he’s doing nothing but stating facts. If someone comes to your for work, they’re not going to care that you made an entire subpar project in one program, they’ll look for quality. Stop attacking this man and grow up. That’s like saying a render isn’t good because it needed OctaneRender to look that good and Octane costs so much. Who cares? It’s about quality at the end of the day.

    A little off-topic, but something that I can see blender eventually adding is AutoCAD (Engineering-based) software at some stage as well as improving its video editor. If we could build using sketches for use in manufacturing machinery and such, and simulate the systems with fluid dynamics or active-animation dynamics, that would be amazing - yet I can see it happening (Obviously in the long term).
    Imagine I was designing hydraulic systems and could simulate actual material properties, fluid and pressure with active animation rather than static colouring (similar to fusion360). Then render and put it in a product pitch in the same software. I can see blender becoming the leader across several computerised animation/development/design fields.

    I used Cinema4D, 3ds Max, Maya and I'm using Blender recently. Cinema 4D is a great program, There are still some features in the blender that the basic parts are not implemented. However. The best thing about Blender is that it is the fastest growing software, and users around the world are actively involved in developing Blender and revolutionizing the open licensing program. And now Blender is compared to Max, Maya, Cinema4D, Houdini and others. The only open license program is Blender. The more you use it, the more you expect it, and the more you use it, the more affection you have. Personally, Blender is the only such program.

    What you present seems the enthusiasm of a blender user , frankly with the 2.80 version blender has come to age meaning is a serious choice for Professional Artists out there not only serious hobbyists at best , other than that this presentation is more like open source vs closed source , indeed C4D is a better choice for small studios and independent users but that also means other closed software usually coming from Adobe Corporations as a whole the package is harder to learn and the workflow does not seem smooth unlike blender but it is up to what you want what you need what needs to be done , Both Philosophies are quite interesting and if you like the graphics and animation field with enough time and brain investment both philosophies are most promising.

    • @millie2079
      @millie2079 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Spenser Dickerson I use Rizom too, but you still have to create a UV map in cinema first, then export to Rizom, make a map, import to Cinema etc etc. And Rizom is based on the Max / Maya tools. Cinema is a graphic designers 3D application, so a modelling toolset is gonna come second to a feature that allows unlimited creativity - Fields / volume modelling - that's ok. Just that after every iteration, users are crying out for better fundamental tool overhauls and they just don't get better, so naturally the users will start to think 'ok, no updates to the UV editor, I'm gonna have to look elsewhere. Same for modelling' and then tools like Blender are more valued, and they grow…
