His haunting voice elevates this dirge, letting all the melancholy shine through. I really appreciate the enchantment that he sometimes adds by just using a few piano notes. Mastery unparalleled.

The singing is phenomenal but what really struck me is the way he sits back almost suddently after the last note, as if utterly exhausted. Somehow it was entirely the right thing to do, a very honest gesture for the song’s terribly sad ending, which one can tell has affected him as much as it has us.
