We didn't have those noisy things on the farm. It wasn't for lack of trees as we had a good sized grove of elm. Visiting small towns in the area I'd hear them and it was annoying.
When I was a kid,- I'd be playing with my Hot Wheel cars and pretend that the cicadas were giant aliens from outerspace, and came to crush the cars !- Lol. Another great story Ron ! Thank You.
The book sounds really good, I never knew Creepy wrote one. Another interesting history lesson. I see you’ve changed things up Ron, trading trains for cicadas was a nice touch! 😊
Great story, bug city, When my cousin and I were little kids, we had hoards of cicadas ALL over t he place. They would land on trees to shed their shells so there were hundreds of them. Both my cousin and I had a nice size bucket FULL of those shells. Good times Ron, Good times.
Never heard of these bugs before, woke up to a small spider crawling up the wall beside my bed. Screamed so loud wouldnt be surprised if it nearly woke up the dead in the nearby cemetary!
Thanks Ron, for taking us with you. You braved the insects and suffered the loud sounds. I bet your ears were ringing for an hour after. The birds, bats, bears, cats, racoons, fish, frogs, etc., etc., will be eating insects until they cannot stomach anymore. They are such a good source of protein for animals and reptiles. A lot of pretty stones and statues there. I had never heard about this story or this man until you told his story. Interesting to learn about so many things on your channel. I learned all I know about the mobsters from all your walks in the cemeteries and info you told about over the years.
Another great story Ron. As far as the Cicadas, they are harmless, 35:27 and they do a lot of good, also they help the lawns get nutrients by their emergence. You are right the day looks beautiful, however there must have been a storm, because I noticed a lot of leaf bunches on the ground. Also, it does creep you out to have them fly, and land on you. Look forward to your next story, and video.
It must have been something to have a cicada screaming in your ear! Those who don't live in this area and never heard cicadas got a real treat. That photo of Al Capone in his cell was interesting! I believe one of his houses is in Cicero on Austin Avenue.
I live in elk Grove next to Des Plaines and I did hear or see any cicadas this summer. It seems like they just were uncertain areas and elk Grove didn’t have any at least in my area.
The sound of the cicadas reminds me of my childhood backyard. You're a trooper Ron for taking us through there to tell us these fascinating stories. Could listen to you for hours!! Thank you Ron!❤
Those bugs hahahahahaha I love them. I'm surprised there aren't more birds flying around and eating them but then there are so many that the birds must be satiated. The sound of a cicada being chased by a bird is very high pitch, too. Thanks for stories - the history lessons are just so interesting. Have a great day. 🙂
Thanks for the update on Karpis. I oftern wondered what happened to the girlfriend. Brian Burroughes' book, Public Enemies, is a must read for more on these bad guys.

About 15:years ago my husband and I went to Alcatraz. As the boat was arriving at the dock, we were the first at the exit door. When the boat stopped and the doors were opening an.old man sitting by the door push my husband and said to him I get off first. My husband said to him old man get to the back of the line. Turns out he was a prisoner there and was there for a book signing.
Thanks Ron. I wasn't familiar with this story. I went to Alcatraz and I was amazed, that I was actually there to see it in person. It was kind of creepy walking around inside, my husband and I did the self guided tour with listening to a recorded tour. It was really interesting. While we were there, parts of Alcatraz was off limits to the public. Not sure why, maybe too dangerous or repairs were being done. I felt gipped that I couldn't see everything. We really enjoyed taking that excursion. We took in quite a bit that week which was our honeymoon. This was back in 1992. Take care Ron, looking forward to your next video. I would freak out if one of those cicadas landed on me.
Great and interesting stories, Ron. The sound of the the cicadas in the background gave your stories almost a Halloween feel. Can't wait fr your Halloween videos. Happy Labor Day.
It was amazing that Alvin creepy corpus did his time in prison ma Barker survivor gangster and got out to tell his own story but ended up committing suicide in the end it will be interesting to hear about his son and find out what his story is
Aloha Archielyna! you are lucky, if you were walking with me there, oh God....what would be in your long black hair - - under, over, all over....hahha. no more cicada videos, I promise!!
Another great story and video Ron. Thank you from the UK. P.S. Funny how we suddenly have swarms of insects, of various types, worldwide, just as we are told to start eating bugs, rather than real meat! Almost as though planned? 😉😜.
I love the stories and the history. Ron, keep up the great work. I absolutely love your channel and have been watching you for years, your a great man thank you so much for all you do my friend I will always be apart of the gang.

Another great adventure. My brother and sister live in Chicago and I've heard their tales of the cicadas.Great that FOTF is back on the air.
Gotta admit; Alvin "Creepy" Karpis reminds me of a Christopher Walken character.
Thanks for taking us with you. Very interesting stories. Even tho the Cicadas are gentle ..they still make me jump if they land on me.😊
The book sounds really good, I never knew Creepy wrote one. Another interesting history lesson. I see you’ve changed things up Ron, trading trains for cicadas was a nice touch! 😊

Hi Ron from Arizona

Oh my, I remember the film Birdmen of Alcatraz with Burt Lancaster & Kirk Douglas when I was young, is that film any connection of the prisoners Ron?
