FACTS!!!! I mean you have women college hoopers saying how they’re making more money in college than what they’ll make in the WNBA.
Naw man NBA, Wnba, women's college basketball all suck. Cant play 54 games. I would rather watch a game of horseshoes at a barbecue in the summer time.
It's the same sport, same players, same play style. The only differences is how it's marketed, the volume of games and lack of legacy fan base(college alumni).
The problem is that females complain that women don’t get paid enough, but no females can name a single WNBA team. If women aren’t interested in the WNBA, then it will never succeed.
And let’s be honest, most of us would rather pay to go out to eat a good meal than pay to watch these carpet munchers play basketball.

My guess is (and I'm sure internally they have metrics for this), that the WNBA opens the door to a wider audience, who may gain interest in the game of basketball and spend money on its more profitable products. One scenario may go something like this: a young girl sees a WNBA game and becomes interested in playing basketball. She buys a basketball and a jersey, joins a school team, grows to love the game, and eventually starts tuning in and buying tickets to the real show: the NBA. My guess is that the 10 million dollar loss the NBA chooses to eat is minuscule compared to the net benefit. Why else operate at a loss for nearly 30 years? It's business. It therefore may also be in the interest of the NBA to pay the WNBA players a higher percentage of revenue (no one is seriously arguing they get the same pay as men) to keep the players happy, avoid the drama, and keep the new customers flowing in.

A couple of things that the WNBA can do is LOWER THE RIM (the players don't want to hear that for some reason), make the game and atmosphere resemble the college game as much as possible and PLEASE make these women practice their layups!

When I lived in Detroit, I went to a lot of Shock games (when Lambier coached and they won 3 championships) and they gave out free vouchers so it cost nothing for me to go (I could walk to the venue). I really enjoyed their style of play but even with free tickets, except for the championship games, they were never sold out during regular season. Lots of empty seats for the one professional team that was winning championships (yes the Red Wings one once during that time and Tigers played in the Series) and playing exciting games.
Household names? Their problem is there aren't enough of those households.

The Bulls had 841,632 and the 76ers had 839,261. Those two teams had more people attend than the entire WNBA.
If you want to argue that it's 12 teams and an 18 game home schedule, the WNBA averages 6,000 fans, the Thunder had 15,534 (worst in the league). Chicago, Philly and Dallas all average over 20K fans a game.
These women talk "deserve" rather than "earn." Deserve is a personal opinion. Earn is a provable fact.
