- In this weeks video I’ll be giving my entire first floor a good cleaning. I’ll be deep cleaning my kitchen counters, restocking my candy station, vacuuming and mopping all the hard wood floors, doing laundry, dusting, cleaning my half bathroom and more.
I’m preparing for hosting Christmas, which has now past, so I hope this video brings you some motivation to tackle some cleaning in your house ❤️

I remember you saying at one point how a family member had said they didn't feel you should host a holiday...so to hear you say you hosted two family Christmases is amazing to hear!
Yes! I was thinking that. It made me so angry for her. Her house was just cluttered, not dirty, there's no reason to offend someone like that, especially when she was so excited to host. If there was grime and dirt and weirdness everywhere I might have understood their hesitation. I'm glad she got to host this year, hopefully with no comments from the peanut gallery!
I remember that too. I felt horrible that someone would say that to her. She doesn’t deserve that!
That's a diffenbacia! You can go ahead and cut off the yellow and dying leaves so the plant has energy to make new ones instead of putting energy into the old ones. Some great begginner plants are: Peace Lily, Snake Plant, and Pothos. Happy Holidays !

Hey jodi, someone once told me - don't set big goals. just be 1% better everyday. do something that tomorrow jodi will thank u for doing. i mean u pretty much said this in the video. but i hope it helps as well. also repeat this to yourself: don't put it down, put it away. hope this helps you, like its helping me!
„Don‘t pur it down, put it away“ helps me sooo much as well. Sometimes I fight with myself for some seconds and „put it away“ wins more and more often. And if i manage to do something I always tell myself „7/12/whatever Minutes better“ motivates me much more then my future self does. I still Sabotage my future self :( but i geht better with that
Wow your candy tiered tray is such a great idea!You are the first person I have seen on TH-cam that lets the laundry detergent dissolve before putting the laundry in. I always did my laundry this way when I had a top loader the clothes always feel so much cleaner. I wish I still had a top loading washer.

Well, you do say you want to hear what we've been working on too. I'm so glad you shared this channel with us too. Previously I thought I should be able to clean the rooms in my home in just one day, now I see It's okay if it takes me a week (or two), I can focus on one area much better, and not feel guilty about getting the whole thing done in a particular time frame. The week before Christmas I decluttered and also deep cleaned my Livingroom, I deep cleaned the front window which took me all of one day and part of a second day (remember the Gus drool?) I had that too from my last dog so you are not the only one, good to know I'm not the only one either! Deep cleaned the Kitchen window too, (tracks in both Livingroom and Kitchen were so dirty!) plus I washed some of the walls in both rooms, I hoping to paint my Livingroom this summer. I painted the ceiling in there a couple of years ago and planned to paint the wall much sooner, but that just didn't happen. I still have to declutter in the cabinets and drawers, but I feel like I've made great progress for my first pass. Cleaning off the paper clutter on the kitchen table is also my nemesis too! I collect it and then it ends up dumped in a box and stashed away somewhere, I'm afraid I'll throw something important away, but could I really find it now?? I make my life such a mess! ♥🐕🤪

I appreciate your willingness to honestly show us what your house really looks like BEFORE cleaning and decluttering! I myself try not to have clutter laying around, but working 5-6 days a week/11 hr midnight shifts, sometimes it's just too much! I usually watch these before I fall asleep to motivate me to do like you on my days off. You have taught me it's ok for a home to be lived in, but to also have the motivation to do something about it when I have the time 🤗

Merry Christmas and happy new year. I loved It when you decluttered your whole kitchen, can you do it again in 2023 .
In Iceland we take down the Christmas decorations on the 6th of January when the last of the 13 Yule-lads goes back to the mountains. Then there are bonfires and fireworks and most of the lights are taken down. It´s a bit sad because it´s so dark but the holidays are then truly over and it´s time to focus on the new year.

Your plant is a dieffenbachia and they don`t like to be overwatered. If the soil is dry about an inch down lightly water it, but don`t make it soggy. In winter keep in light and turn it every now and again., but in summer it can handle less light. And make sure the pot has good drainage.

Cut off the nearly dead leaves because the plant is also trying to save them. It is better to cut them off so the plant can heal and bring the energy into the healthy leaves ☺️ I hope u can understand what I want to say. Best wishes from Germany.

When I was a teen/ preteen, we used to have family yard day in the Spring. Where everyone helped clean/spruce up the yard for a few hours one day.
You absolutely flew through the cleaning, well done. I would not class those wood floors dirty at all but I know the difference is we wear our shoes inside (plus we’ve 3 cats, who don’t get on and a dog that thinks she’s a cat 😂) and that brings a lot of dirt. The habits is a great idea and seems very doable too. We were so bad with the decorations this year they only went up the week before Christmas but we usually take them down 6th January (Little Women’s Christmas). Every year I say I will be organised but this year has to be my worst. Delighted you got to host both families, you are amazing. Oh I most definitely mop my hardwood floors. Like several times a week. I have dogs that are indoor outdoor and they are messy. Lol I use my spray Bona dust mop type thing and make my own cleaner mix to use in it..
Jodi ,I put my Christmas decor up the day after Thanksgiving and I took it down the day after Christmas. I just can’t seem to keep my house clear with all the Christmas stuff, so I was anxious to get things cleaned up. You little plant will spring back is you cut the yellow off and let it get lots of the south sun. I love my cordless shark vac, it sure makes vacuuming quicker, and I’m with you I love my shark vacuums and yes my stick is top heavy, but it’s ok. Jodi you are so funny about mopping your floors, I love your attitude.

The decorations didn’t go up this year. But in past years, I can’t stand decorations for too much after Christmas. So day or 2 after and before New Year’s Eve.
I started watching your videos this week. Thank you for sharing your journey! It inspired me to get down to my basement and clean it up. Just a couple hours at a time, it’s the best advice and is really helping a lot. I’m making real progress instead of being overwhelmed and frozen. ❤ bless you!

Last year I broke my ankle right after Christmas! Our tree was up until February! I just wasn’t able to deal with it. Plus, I got to enjoy my tree more because I was on the couch a lot! 😁

Clarke is such a cutie! Thomas will teach Clarke how to interact. My cats beat the ornery out of the puppies. They learned, but even after 13 years, the cats will still have to give the occasional whack or head bite! Lol!
My cleaning project today was my fridge. Ugh! All expired yogurt, cottage cheese, cheeses, lunch meats, sad looking fruits and veggies, and 6 packages of bacon are gone. It filled up 2 huge garbage bags. (I guess I hoarded cheese and bacon!) I also washed the shelves, and drawers. Feeling accomplished. Thank you for the weekly inspiration!
Not sure what you're trying to do in the back yard for Clarke, but if it includes picking up dog poo, do it daily. So much easier. I have several poop choppers. I bought them at Farm and Fleet. Has a handle, a lever to open the chopper, and a long pole. Picks up everything, and I don't have to get close to the poo!
Lemon Fabuloso is my favorite as well. Washed my hardwood floors with it Monday. Your Donna Jean is a pip! Such a sweet young lady!
I have never made new year's resolutions because I know damn well I won't keep them. However I do set 'new day' resolutions every day. Each day I set a task that I want to do, then set out to do it, sometimes it takes all day and sometimes a few minutes. When I do one big task that can take a week, its done by taking little steps every day. I can't run around like a whippet any more so I have to plan. New day, new resolution for that day.
Hi! 💕 We had a wonderful Christmas. My Mom usually hosts Christmas and this year she had 30 Family members and 1 Friend of her Grandson. It’s always beautiful but I’m so tired after it all. It really takes a lot to clean up her formal event. We had lots of laughter and conversation. I usually take my tree down the next day after Christmas but this year I’m wondering if I should wait for my son to get home in early February. Of course I just don’t know if I can deal with it that long. Really enjoy Seeing you and your daughter together. It I always makes me smile. ~ Janet 😘
In catholic parts of Germany Three Kings Day (January 6) is a holiday. But it is pretty common to put down the Christmas stuff on That day in all parts of Germany
I definitely focused more on my habits this year, and it's crazy how easy it is to do things now that seemed so impossible this time last year! I also like to choose a word for the year. My word this past year was Light. I wanted to feel lighter, be the Light, bring lightness to others, etc. It helped to see my word posted on my mantle every day. U cleaned with a breeze. U have done so good this past year. Goals or resolutions I think set us up for failure. I like your reasonable approach for your backyard. One step at a time. Glad u all had a great Christmas. My family dis also. Your plant cut the dead leaves off they r draining nutrients form the rest of the plant and u may need a bigger pot it could b toot bound.

I've been watching you and Dana K White on decluttering for quite a while. The problem is, I've just been watching! I finally started on Christmas Eve. I live in Ohio and we had a bad storm starting the day before so the family gathering was delayed...maybe it will happen in a week or so. The most impactful thing you said was "I want my house to be consistently clean enough that I'm never embarrassed".

I'm always a little sad when Christmas is over but was glad to get things put up. Going to go back thru my house starting the new year, to declutter part 2.

The diffenbacia is a great plant. Mine is in bathroom. Where the humidity is higher, I do NOT water it weekly. Prob 2-3 weeks or longer. Put in bathtub and spray with cool/cold water. Will get smaller. Can get down to one leaf, when really neglected…. Then will come back strong in the summer. Will sunburn in strong light. Bring back inside when temps dip to 50’s. Not an expert, just hate to baby plants. No to peace lilly, you have to water it every 2 days. Or it droops. Snake plant is a favorite

Hi Jodi! Do you have a plant pot inside of the white pot? Take the inside pot out, water your plant and leave it in the sink to drain. Then put it back in the white pot. Water at least once a week.

We leave our tree up until January 2nd, because we celebrate Christmas on January 1st. I have grown married children that use to always be in conflict with who to spend Christmas day with, so I told them all years ago that Christmas with us could be on January 1st. And they loved this!

No lemon cleaners here. Can’t deal with lemon anything smell or taste! I use Mr Clean Gain scent. It’s so fresh and clean and everyone always remarks about the smell. Recently had to order on amazon. Was in a real panic when none of the stores around me had it! At least I have 4 extra large bottles now! Have a great New Year’s!

Hi, Jodi! 👋 Decluttering is great. BUT when surgery happens going backwards is inevitable. Still only allowed to do dishes for household chores. Lifting is limited to 5-10#s depending on pain with it. But I'm allowed to drive again. Car door is problematic with wind blowing. But I'm on e again able to go out. Which is big. Hopefully by middle of January I'll be able to start doing more again. I agree that habits are better than goals as goals are often changeable and can seem unattainable depending on the obstacles we must face without warning. Planning for 1 hour a week working in backyard is very attainable.
Clark is barking because he doesn't think his crate area should be vacuumed. That's his personal space. To break that, try vacuuming it every week and tell him before you start, "Clark, time to clean your area,too." - that should help him realize that it's ok.

Jodi, you do seem way more relaxed even before this video. I think it's helped a lot to get things more manageable around the house.

Jodi, for my work I get to go in alot of homes to see people's pets. One of the things I have seen alot of the Spanish women do is use fabulouso like a poopourri scented liquid !! My the house smells amazing ! I'm not saying this is a good thing but man their houses smelled just as clean as they looked !
