- My kitchen is a disaster and it’s been driving me nuts! So in todays video we are going to get my kitchen cleaned up and get my pantry organized.
My counters are completely full of junk! And I can’t even see what I have in my pantry. It’s been like this for a few weeks and I have got to get this back under control.
I hope this video inspires you to tackle a space in your home that has been bothering you ❤️

Jodi!!! Pro organizer here. I would recommend 2 things. First, turn your boxes so that the label is showing so that everyone can see what the boxes are. And second, I would label the shelves so that everyone knows what is where and can help put things away. Great job gal!!

Those canisters would be great for bathroom supplies or in a cupboard/pantry. Since you have cats, their food or treats are another great candidate. Good call hanging onto them! Sometimes donations should leave right away and sometimes we should let them simmer when the object is meaningful and practical. 😊
Oh! Another idea: one of them could be a cute vase!
So many thoughts for this video!!! #1 The catch-all bin on the counter could be replaced w/ an open top file folder like The Minimal Mom uses (can find her video on here if you want) #2 For the canisters, I wonder if you can put sticker labels over the existing labels but for stuff you actually use like I don’t know dishwasher pods for example #3 The Panty… I’m surprised you haven’t turned the pantry nook into a coffee/breakfast bar. Just a thought. #4 For the sagging shelves, I’ll wondering if you could flip them upside down and let gravity put them back level over time. #5 just kidding!!! I’m done lol Love your videos. I never comment this much but your positivity is so contagious that I wanted to share some thoughts just for fun!!

That’s a great idea to turn the shelves. But unfortunately they don’t come out easily. They are on clips that are attached and basically you have to break the clips to get them out 🤦♀️
It’s probably cheap to replace them but I’m not messing with them until I absolutely have to 😂
We don’t drink coffee so no coffee bar needed. I only have coffee in case we have guests that drink it.
Great idea to use one of the canisters for dishwasher pods ❤️
🙋🏻♀️ Jodi, Regarding the dates on food, it’s more of a use by date not an expiration date that the contents inside are spoiled and/or moldy. The food is just not as fresh but still edible.
Also have you heard of Cass from Clutterbug. She has a TH-cam channel that helps people organize using four different organizing styles. It might help maintain your house because your family and you might have different styles of organizing stuff. Also she just did a video about paper clutter a few weeks ago. It helped me a lot. Just thought it might help.
Yes I’ve talked about Cass in several previous videos. That’s how I finally learned my organization type and learning I’m a cricket I finally understood why things weren’t working for me. Now that I know it’s so much better ❤️

Just a note on diffusing oils, check with your vet on which ones aren't safe for cats/animals. There are definitely ones that are toxic for them even diffused but there are lots that are safe! Wonderful cleaning job and sending hope and good thoughts to you and your family in this hard time.

@@jodidunnmymessylife1847 unless a cat is enclosed in an area with a diffuser, or might be likely to mess with it, you’re good to go with it. Dogs are more likely have a problem with some oils. So, enjoy it ☺️ xxo

I dunno if you're attached, but when we removed the magnets from the dishwasher and fridges, they helped reduce the visual clutter!

Yes we are in a season of life right now with young grandkids. And EJ goes for the magnetics every time. So they stay put. It definitely looks cleaner without them, but I always go for function over aesthetic ❤️
That’s my favorite diffuser - I love it! PLEASE be really careful, though, with diffusing oils. In case you weren’t aware, some of them can be toxic for animals to breathe or ingest (droplets can get on their fur, then lick).

Also Jodi, I stock up when I find things on a really good sale and with coupons. My fridge, freezer, and pantry are organized but busting at the seams. You are right. you do you. With inflation, If I find It cheap and we like it, I'm gonna get it.

I love your attitude, what works for you in organization. I take function over fashion any day. We live in an older home without a pantry so we have shelving from Menard's in the basement. A family has to do whatever works. Thanks for sharing the chair foot cover story!

As far as your grandmother’s jars…. You seem to be really enjoying using faux plants in the rooms in your house. I wonder if you could get some sort of greenery that trails out of the tops of the jars and put them on the bookshelves. Maybe something like vines. If you wanted to get really crafty, maybe you could use the lids too. They could lean standing up kind of like a plate would in a display And you could decoupage a copy of a photo of each of your pets, I certainly know about Gus, And I believe you had mentioned one or two other pets?
Anyway just brainstorming some ideas. I bet your girls will help you come up with some even better ones!

I turned my broom and coat clostpet in the kitchen into my pantry years ago I fit 4 large shelves in there and ALOT of space on the floor added a slotted hi fold door and puck lights and I love it !!

Try putting mayonnaise on the krazy glue then in a bit pushing a thin edged nylon turner to try to get under the edge and pop off the glue.
The acetone will remove the stain and make the top of table look melted, will take shine off of table
The mayo is oil based, use full fat kind. Will not remove finish. Works on water stains on wood to remove white mark
Had success with newer glue on wood table, but nothing took it off the laminate counter

I also have a cannister set that belonged to my grandmother/2nd mom...I use mine for kids snacks!
Mine are in my pantry but yours would work on the little countertop spot near your pantry cupboards as I remember u have baskets in the lower cabinets from a previous kitchen declutter video!

Great idea about using the canisters. I would not paint them because I suggest putting them on the mantle with some faux flowers or greenery. Not on the shelves

Hello! I'm new! I'm recently retired and am trying to organize the clutter I accumulated. I used to work 60-70 hour work weeks and also traveled a lot. Cleaning is not my strong suit! I've been decluttering my pantry and just did my laundry room. Enjoy you!

I love diffusing young livings Christmas spirit….all year! It just makes me happy! I also diffuse purification in the kitchen every night to get rid of cooking smells. I have to diffuse that one at night because I can’t stand the smell of it! But it does get rid of odors.

The table is well loved by everyone in the family! I think the "flaws" that Donna Jean created are a great memory of what she created and how proud she was with what she did ( and remember how you love her pumpkin too!) Jodi, your reorganized pantry looks wonderful! I'm like you; I don't use bins because they seem to take up too much room. I do have a couple of containers to hold my instant mashed potatoes and noodles and rice packets, though (otherwise they fall over and off the shelf). Also, I read that using nail polish remover with acetone on a cotton ball will remove the Krazy Glue from your wooden table. Be sure to blot it off & then wash it thoroughly with soap & water. Sending prayers & positive thoughts for your step-dad & your family.

I definitely need to declutter everything, especially the kitchen!! At one point I had my downstairs pretty decent, organized, but the last several years it has become chaos again. My goal for September is tackle the kitchen!!

I use the canisters for other items than what they are labeled for, one is that I buy the Jolly Time popcorn kernels from the Dollar Tree, or sometimes from Aldi's if they have it. My daughter loves popcorn so I keep it in the canister with a small scoop or measuring cup right inside with it. Once you open the bag it needs to go in something and I found the canisters work well. Additionally, I use a lot of macaroni, so once I open the box, I use a canister for that as well. 😀 I like the idea for the largest one to use flowers or greenery & place on the mantel, great idea! ❤

Be careful with diffusing oils around cats. Check out what is toxic to them. I almost lost one due to difusing tea tree oil.😻

I know you said you don’t use Pinterest other than for your nail ideas but… if you look up laundry room organizing, I lot of people are putting laundry products in containers. Tide pods, scent beads and stuff. Or look up coffee / hot cocoa bars.

Buy a cheap tablecloth and tell Donna Jean to use it whenever she crafts on the kitchen table. That’s what I have to do. I am a messy crafter. I guess that what makes it so fun!

I don’t use baskets either. You can flip the bowed shelves over. I like your pantry cabinet better than mine, mine has way deeper shelves that roll out. You lose a lot of shelf space when they roll out. I really enjoy your videos, your laugh is contagious. 😃

I always look forward to your videos! I find each time I organize my cupboards or drawers I get rid of more each time. Now there’s only my husband and myself and it’s been hard to downsize things, especially food, we’ve wasted so much in past years I have to pay attention to what I purchase now. Great video!👍😊❤️
Your vlogs are always so much fun to watch! I've thinking about getting a diffuser for my bedroom. I picked up a cheap one from Walmart and it died after two days. ☹️ You're right, you get what you pay for. I'll check out Amazon. I think the idea of reusing your Grandma 's canisters on your living room bookcase is a great idea. If you use the peel and stick wallpaper, maybe pick a color you really like from it and paint the canisters or just display them as they are. Have a great week. Prayers for your Stepdad.
Oh Amy what a bummer!!! It’s so tempting to get the cheapest option but yep something they are just junk. The one I got from Amazon doesn’t seem to be working great after only a few days 🤦♀️
Perhaps the problem is that you're supporting Amazon and Walmart. You might actually get quality stuff if you do a little research, buy from a small business, buy American (if you're in the u.s.), support quality merchandise made by real people, not slaves, child laborers, or toxic materials.

Hello Jodi, I love Ylang-Ylang, bergamot, eucalyptus and Lavander essence oils for difuzer. In wintertime I use to mix an Orange and Cinnamon together :)

For those cannisters I would put flower arrangements in them, and put the kids somewhere safe in case you decide you want to then recycle them back into the kitchen to hold seasonal cookies or coffee beans or seasonal coffee blends like for fall or Christmas with a cute seasonal label attached to front
Or you can put one on your bedroom with a flower arrangement so you can see your grandmother's cannisters every day
I know how precious the every day things that belonged to our lost loved ones can be .....
Forgot to add::: .my great aunt's wooden cutting board has been hard shellacked and now hangs on my kitchen wall as a reminder of all the meals she used it for, and when she was teaching me how to cut veggies and fruit and meat using that cutting board. She passed in 1982 and I have treasured it ever since then.... It's now been mine for 40 years, I got it when she passed when I was 12 years old
If you take the lids off of your grandma's jars then you can put your cooking utensils in them!

Diffuser:. I just put a drop on each lightbulb that ISN'T a LED type.
Lemon oil. Smells nice. Use essential oil.
Be careful with diffusers around pets. My daughter found out hers was causing her cat harm.
Yeah. That's why I save newspapers or ripped gift bags to cover table during projects.
Ahh. Toaster. That's like the ones we used at the restaurant only much smaller. Theirs would do 12 slices at a time.lol
Reorganize pantry every quarter? Put it on a Friday evening on the calendar before pizza/ movie/ fun stuff. Then you know it's only 10 minutes. Easy peasy.
No $ to reorganize? My kind of job!!!

It took almost a year but we switched all our lightbulbs to LED. That’s genius to put oils on them. Never would have thought of that ❤️

Using extra canisters for art supplies was one of my grandmothers or great grands. They did something similar back in 1970s

Well done! The knife block could b moved to a cabinet. Then u could buy the 12 x 9 inch Toaster oven/airfryer/ broiler, and replace the toaster with it. It toasts 6 slices a bread at once.

Hi Jodi! I'm so sorry to hear about your stepdad. Praying for y'all! My son started college two weeks ago. I just can't believe he's already in college. It goes by so quickly. I hope the girls have had a great week of school. Great job of getting your kitchen cleaned up, it looks great! I have two bookshelves that I need to work on today. One has books and the other has all of our board games. We love to play board games, so I need to make more room to fit them on there nicely.

Thank you for an awesome deal I wish I had the energy to do what you just did but I’m not there yet still recovering from a cold. The joys of having a nephew in preschool. But I did find my joy and I just wanted to share it with you I got an amazing OK paying job at an indoor children’s play area and I’m so excited to start training this week. I just wanted to share my joy with you because I remember you and other people saying I got a find something that you love and I love children I just didn’t feel like being a nanny anymore with the pandemic and then just parent expectations. Not everybody understood what a nanny is like you did with your kids. But thanks again I just wanted to give you some joy I’m sorry to hear about your stepfather but he sounded like you were really lucky to have him in your life and I’m sending you energy and lots of hugs for you and your mom!!!! Just recently a friend of mine lost his younger brother we think a maybe a Covid related condition. He had lived in Europe the majority of his adult life but used to bring his son into America for our little adventures like going to yard sales and other things that we do here that they don’t do in Europe. It was nice to hear all the wonderful things about him he was a pretty remarkable man and it sounds like you have another remarkable man in your family. Final thing thank you for always trying to pass on your joy to us and for sharing your patience and your OMG‘s. I am also a Couponer and I love both your channels. Had an awful experience at Walgreens but I remembered I just don’t need to go there again to that Walgreens go to a different one. So thanks again for all the advice and support that you give our community. Starting next week we organizing and tidying up my apt. But I have shined in my sink And let the dishwasher do all the work. First step done more to come.
