Inside The First Amazon Go Store

  • Here's what it's like inside Amazon's cashier-less store. Amazon Go has no checkout lines, cashiers, or registers. The store is located in Seattle, right near Amazon's campus.
They sell prepared foods and grocery staples. There's also a small selection of beer and wine.
You use the Amazon Go app to enter the store.
Here's how the entire process works.
Customers enter the turnstiles by scanning a QR code. Anything you pick up is added to your virtual cart. Any items you put back will automatically be removed from your cart. Once you finished shopping, you can walk right out.
No cashier needed. Your Amazon account will automatically be charged.
But how does Amazon make sure no one steals anything?
Amazon Go uses cameras and high-tech sensors. The combination of cameras and sensors keeps track of where the items are located. However, the technology isn't perfect, as some TH-camrs have proven.
Currently, Seattle is Amazon Go's pilot location.
Will walk in and walk out stores be the future of retail?

When you have to wait in line to enter a store designed to not wait in a cashier line.

Yeah Amazon is taking over the world. Jeff Bezos in 1995 created a website called Amazon.com in his garage . Just stated selling books. Shows what 1 guy can do if he works at it instead of all the time watching youtube videos, TV , news, politics , sports, media etc. Which is what what we are doing watching youtube while Bezos, Zuckerberg, Bill Gates,Oprah, etc. are working. So that's the difference. All of these started out poor or middle class not rich. now all are billionaires. Bezoz is on track to become the first Trillionaire ever. It's not about what coler you are that you are a woman or a man etc. i believe if someone else did it so can i and anyone .it's all about working at it 18 hours a day or sitting watching news and yotuube and being poor waiting for a robot to take your minimum wage job.

I foresee one of two possibilities:
    1) Either this fixes all our shopping needs and all those concerns about automation was needless fearmongering, or
    2) Their concerns were real, and this will just accelerate public awareness of how automation might be a real problem
In either case, I think this is moving in a good direction :D

The roll out of this platform countrywide would be met with stiff resistance. If Jeff Bezos thought that by acquiring Whole Foods, if he thought he now has the biggest grocery chain to explore this on a wider scale, he is wrong. Protests will cripple his ambitions and lawmakers would be forced to deal with him. This is just a bad idea. The Occupy Movement will return.

They also didn’t eliminate one other annoying thing about grocery shopping and that is navigating around people, people who hover exactly where you need to be and stand aimlessly in the middle of an aisle.
Let’s just make online shopping supper efficient and have people come to the store to pick up thier already bagged items.

They are using camera and radar to see your exact location (phones ).
The shelf also have sensors .when you pick something sensors note that down and radar tells where you standing (precisely ) it marks you as buyer .
To prove that they have your image in front of shelf .Camera recording you piking something and your phones location .which is enough to prove you as a buyer .

The problem will arise as sure as night follows day that someone will get used to shopping in this way and then mistakenly conflate amazon's system with a visit to a competitors store and absent mindedly walk out without paying and end up being arrested for shoplifting and going to jail for their mistake. It's a very real risk because because because we are all creatures of habit.

It's also creepy because they are using nonfree proprietary software to run this, so they could be doing so much more with this data and hardware but it's closed source and copyright laws make it illegal to hack it and find out. We need libre software!

So what's the big idea here, to save a few lousy dollars on having Cashiers? It's certainly not to save time on queueing as this video shows as there were people lined up outside the store and it was crowded it the shop so it was slower to get around.
I hope this goes the way of the Windows Phone.

    Put one in the hood

    • @tommy07robs
      @tommy07robs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

They won't. Not that it matters. Any grocery type store in the hood or near the hood has to account for a large amount of theft. I mean that's one of many reasons an ordinary grocery store can't survive in the hood never mind that they can't afford to charge the low prices that a super store can.
