Nestled among the spectacular peaks surrounding Lake Louise historic tea houses. Lake Anges is a stunning alpine lake set inside a breathtaking cirque formed by the peaks of Mt. Saint Piran, Whyte and Niblock.
Starting from Lake Louise, the Lake Agnes Tea House hike makes its way along the lake’s north shoreline. The walk along the shoreline is very popular both in the winter and summer. You’ll begin a gradual climb on a wide trail that follows a series of long switchbacks to the first stop. It took us about 2 hours to get up the mountain this time but if you're going up at a more casual pace it can take longer. No need to rush just pace yourself and take in all the gorgeous sights such as Mirror Lake which is the first highlight, and it offers great views of the Big Beehive. From Mirror Lake, the trail moves to the right, following signs to Lake Agnes and the Beehive hikes. After that, the trail continues to climb through a series of switchbacks where the occasional opening of the forest allows views of the soaring peaks that surround it. A stunning trail with gorgeous views at the peak of the trail. The lower part encased in forest.

Nice to see the area in winter ! It must be more strenuous than in summer time. We have been several times to lake Louise in summer and winter but never hiked to the tea house because of the sore knee of Hélène 😓 .

Yes, such winter trails are much more demanding than in summer. The sheer amount of clothes you have to wear at minus temperatures weighs you down, slippery trails, spikes on your shoes, everything that makes hiking difficult. But we love it and we do it with love. After such an effort, the ice bar is like the icing on the cake haha. Thank you for your comment and warm regards from Canada.
