I truly believe that this trail has the most STUNNING views of the Lake Louise area. We arrived at the Lake Louise parking lot shortly after 7am and it was almost full. I recommend getting there as early as you can.
Today we will be hiking up to the Little Beehive. We did this as a loop hike, so we saw Lake Louise, Mirror Lake, and Lake Agnes. Be prepared for a lot of people on the trail, as the trail up to Lake Agnes and the Teahouse is one of the most popular trails here.
From the upper parking lot, we made our way to Lake Louise. This lake is so magical in the morning when there is not a lot of wind. Cross the bridge and head towards the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Just after the chateau you are supposed to take a right to get onto the trail up to Lake Agnes. This was blocked off, so we had to go a little further along the lake, and then go up some stairs. The trail gets fairly steep right away, and you will not have any views for a while as you are in the trees. At 1.2k the trail eases up a little bit. Soon you will have more rocks and roots on the trail, so you have to watch where you step. At 2.3k you will get your first view of Lake Louise and you will have arrived at your first switchback. You will now start heading away from the lake. More rocks and roots. Around 3.3k you will arrive at Mirror Lake. This is a beautiful little lake with the Big Beehive towering above it. The trail will now get steeper and there will be some more switchbacks. As you climb higher you will start and get some views looking over the Bow Valley. At 4k you will take the trail to the right to go to Little Beehive. Now the trail wasn’t as busy as most of the people were heading to Lake Agnes and the Teahouse. Now you will really start and get some views. To your right is Mount Saint Piran towering above you. Looking back, you get a great view of Fairview Mountain. You will continue up some switchbacks and when you come back the other way you will a great view of the Big Beehive and Devils Thumb. This area is an avalanche path. There were a lot of downed and destroyed trees here. Soon you will see Mirror Lake down to your left. As you continue up the switchbacks you will now be able to see Lake Louise and be looking down at the Bow Valley. As we climbed higher the clouds were moving in on us. At 5k you will arrive at a lookout on your right. This is where you will get the BEST VIEWS on this hike. From here you can see Devils Thumb, and the Big Beehive. As well as Lake Agnes, Mirror Lake and Lake Louise. We continued up the trail for a bit to another lookout. From here you get a great view of Lake Louise and looking down the Bow Valley. It started to rain on us a little here. At 5.3k we made it to the summit of Little Beehive. The views weren’t the best here as the clouds moved in on us. We had our lunch and a beer and headed back down. We stopped at the first lookout again to get some more video and pictures. We worked our way down and there was a trail to the right that would take us to Lake Agnes. Once we got to the Teahouse, we were greeted by at least 100 people. The view looking up Lake Agnes is just stunning. Right below Lake Agnes is a beautiful waterfall. We continued and went down a whole bunch of stairs. We were now below the Big Beehive rock face. This trail is a lot steeper than any other trail we were on today. The trail opens up once again and we were welcomed with another stunning view of the mountains. Soon we arrived at Mirror Lake. The trail from here down to Lake Louise was very busy. Our Maximum elevation was 2235 meters and we hiked 11.2 kilometers with an elevation gain of 530 meters.
As I said at the beginning, I truly believe that this trail offers the most STUNNING views of the Lake Louise area and I highly recommend it. Be prepared to have to deal with a lot of people on the trail.

This hike definately has the views😁 Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Nice video. Gives me an idea what to expect at the hike. Ground conditions and views.
Thank you so much. It's not a really hard trail, but can be very busy. I recommend going early. Thanks for watching and commenting😁
Such a beautiful video, this whole upload is marvelous my friend! Bravo
Thank you so much😁 it is so easy to make a video like this when everything is so beautiful. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome video - can’t wait until we get there next June to see it in person.
Thanks so much. It is an awesome hike, and thanks so much for commenting😁
Hi Cary - just out of interest what video equipment do you use for creating your content. The quality is very good. Regards Andrew
@user-Macca62 I use a Go Pro Hero 10 for my videos and I use a Sony RX100 7 for my pictures😁
I got to come to Banff on 8/31/2023 and I loved this hike! I could here your voice all the way up the trail!
That's awesome Laurie. I really loved this one as well. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Hopefully you don't hear my voice on other trails🤣🤣🤣
One year ago I hiked together with my wife in this beautiful area. We took the Six-Glacier-Plain and added the climb up to the Big Beehive. You made us relive a lot of this wonderful experience around Lake Louise. We really like the way you're filming, so calm and full of details because you take your time and don't rush through everything. Thank you so much for your work, Cary! Takes us everytime back to magnificent Alberta! Would love to return every year... Greetings from Germany and keep it going :-)
Thank you so much Marco for the beautiful comments. Glad my video could bring back some great memories. I am the slowest hiker out there, as I have to take pictures and video🤣🤣🤣. I will keep them coming. So many beautiful trails out there. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
@@LIVEONALBERTA It's a lot of work filming while on a hike if you're aiming for some quality content like you do. But it's so worth it and very much appreciated!
I love it. I really enjoy the hike more when I am talking to the camera, it's like I am not hiking alone, the viewers are with me. I couldn't think of a better hobby to have. Once again thanks for your comments😁
Magical Cary, Loved this hike but the calfes were burning and mosquitoes 🦟 were horrendous on parts..but worth every bite.
Cheers, looks like you had a great time.
We had no mosquitoes which was nice. The variable weather helped as it didn't get to hot. Made for very moody clouds which added to the experience for sure😁
Thanks for the great video, We are off to Canmore for two weeks in mid-september and will definitely be doing this hike...it looks amazing. All the info is much appreciated. Thanks again.
Thank you for watching and commenting. The colors will be changing so I bet it will be awesome😁
Great Video. thank you.
Thank you so.much for watching and commenting😊
wind ridge is one of my favourites , not been up there in a while but always a nice spot, that is where pink floyd filmed learning to fly.
I loved it, a little steep in sections, but the views really made up for it😁 I love that video Learning to Fly and I recognize a lot of the places in it. So awesome.
@@LIVEONALBERTA The only one I dont know is the little cabin at the end, the water one i know very well and the ridge is one of my favourites but i have not been able to find the cabin.
@davebloggs I have to watch it again now🤣🤣🤣
Beauty! I have never been to the Little Beehive, sure wish I planned one more day of hiking so we could've gone there...well, just have to come back! Thanks for your amazing videos!
Yes now you have a reason to come back for sure😁😁😁
@@LIVEONALBERTA I always did have a reason to come back to Alberta! Hope to be back a.s.a.p.!
@NadiaWirchnianski-hl7de I will be waiting😁
Hi! Really good footage and overall enjoyable video to watch.. what camera did you use to record may I ask?
Thanks so much Stephen😁 I use a Go Pro Hero 10 for all my video footage.
LOve this hike ! I have done it many times ! Do you attach your camera to your hiking pole or to yourself ? I rather enjoy your vids and I have done some of these hikes because of your videos. Keep on hiking !
The last time I did this hike was 45 years ago when I was 15. Didnt remember any of it🤣 I just carry my go pro on a small tripod when I am not using my poles. When I use my poles I have a chest mount for my go pro. Thanks for watching and commenting. I will keep them coming😁
Ughh I wanna do this one so bad, but I think dad and I are still a little too out of shape for it. Maybe next year hopefully.
Emma it will be waiting for you when you are ready. It will definately blow your mind. I wouldn't do it in July or August though as the trail will have more people on it than a shopping mall at Christmas🤣🤣🤣
