Hi there! I did the same with the Z230 AND, YES you CAN convert it to ATX. There's an adapter cable that you can find on ebay or amazon for pretty cheaply to easily "plug & play" an ATX Power Supply. The "Stock" power supply doesn't handle gaming well (It'll blow)... i've had 2 blow out already so i finally decided to get the best ATX power supply out of frustration....Just thought id let you know.....
Low key forgot about being able to do this. If you’re willing to spend a little more, I know some universities in the US are dumping Coffee Lake based “office builds” with cheap AMD GPUs. Might be worth keeping an eye out for them!
Good to know the PSU has a spare PCI-e power cable, this video was pretty much the only source where I could confirm that. I got one of these machines for my buddy like 6 months ago because he really needed a better PC for daily use and he didn't have any money for a PC so I gifted him one, the Xeon it has is pretty powerful but the Quadro GPU in it is no good for gaming so I want to upgrade it for him I'll definitely go to visit him and double check his PC actually has the cable before going further but at least I know it most likely has one, I just didn't want to bother him right now and he probably doesn't know enough about PC's to check it for me

I got a $40 bundle of electronics and sold enough to make my money back from it. It had two gtx 980s 4GB and bought a $40 Dell T3610 workstation tower Which had 16gb ddr3 and a 4c 4t cpu I added a 500GB HDD with Win 10 and an 80GB HDD for storage and it has worked great without modding or errors it also came with a DVD Drive which is a nice. Touch, for $40 it's Probably the best PC I've ever built for the price and it has 8 ram slots so it's future upgradable, especially the CPU socket.
Hi. Can you tell me its possible to put 7th gen processor in it? Becasue I read some forums and someone could put in i7-7700 or i5-7500 but on the HP website only shows t 6 th gen processors in the support list .....even on ebay I saw some Z240 with i5 -7500 CPU. So Im really confused now.
I haven't tried it but the 6th and 6th generation shared the same sockets and most boards supported both. Just depends on if the bios on the board has been updated to take the 7th I suppose.
Please tell me how to make the M.2 drive detected by the Bios. i've installedt one 512 mb M.2 drive but, it is not detected on the Bios. Is there a specific setup to make it visible to the bios and further to the OS ?

I believe the SATA extension out of the motherboard has 3 SATA connections on it and the board has 4 SATA data connections. You can extend all these though by installing a new PSU which we did in a follow up video, it requires a cheap adaptor to do.

Depending on the model of RX 580 they require a 450w PSU minimum and a single 8Pin connector so no but we did do a video after this one to show you how to change the PSU to use any GPU you want.

When install it in system it gives display but after installing drivers of AMD it doesn't give display... Even after restarting a plenty of times .... When pc turns on it gives display ultill windows loading screen comes but don't gives display when is about to start.. mean when u are on welcome windows mean before welcome windows it loses display with drivers ... But works without driver but problem is as u know we can't use any card without driver Edit : what should i do to solve it kindly help me

Pretty good video for (potential) PC gamers on a budget like me. I recently got myself an used HP Z240 Workstation (110 € excluding shipping costs) and even without upgrades it works reasonably well. Yes, I will upgrade the system with a 500 GB hard drive, a DVD drive and an AMD Radeon R7 240 which I all have had for a few years now, but for the games I'm probably going to play on there natively (Roblox, Bloons TD 6, Far Cry Primal and - if it works - Witcher 2), together with everything else I'll be doing on this computer, those upgrades should be enough for the time being. In the future, I do plan to upgrade the computer to 12 - 16 GB of RAM (Currently 8 GB, my OptiPlex 780 had 12 GB at its peak) and with a 250 - 500 GB NVMe SSD. And hey - if a 4th gen Intel Core i5 can run Windows 11, then I can upgrade a PC with a 6th gen i5 as well.

@@TechLabUK Thanks for the update , i found a Asus TUF rtx 2060 , that has a maximal power usage of 160W , i've read that 75 W will be supplied by the mother board pci x16 slot , an additional 75 would be supplied from the 400 W psu , would the rtx 2060 work ? seemingly some people have made it work with no problem or PSU change , just a 6 to 8 pin adapter would work
Cool video. I am running an old Dell T3600 with 64GBs in quad channel. My GPU is an RX 5600XT. It is an older system but so far that has yet to be an issue. And as for an upgrade path Intel is usually only any good for 2 generations anyway so it is kind of nonsensical to me to worry about that. Furthermore this machine runs circles around a consumer level i5 8400 system I had for work. So I have learned the on paper specs and synthetic benchmarks don't always matter.
This is how it all started. Except they were an off-white and laying down so you could put your monitor on top of it 😆. Also, there were these things call Voodoo cards lol
for anyone trying to replicate this in 2024, skip the 1060. can't handle much nowadays. go for a 1070, it uses 150 Watts which is enough to run a 6 pin, and has 8 gigs of vram, the minimum for 2024 gaming

I never had to change anything, it just worked but I do remember having to use a SATA NVMe and not a PCIe one so worth checking that.

Make sure windows is up to date, run a ddu on your graphics drivers and re-install the latest then if still nothing try re-installing a game / steam.

The NVMe was in there, just the clip n the case got broke so it's hanging off. All the benchmarks were taken running from that NVMe drive.
Bring back memories I got free Lenovo workstation Xeon cpu from work I turn it to gaming pc. It’s was easy plus I was in super tight budget.

A 1650 Super would work, but a 1660 Super wouldn't unless you replace the power supply.

HP/Dell systems always have the worst bios though, so you're basically trading efficiency with cheapness

@@HaisenbergSupport If the card has a 6pin PCIe connection and not an 8pin then it should work. I ran a 1060 6GB off this fine.
