      Hello, I got as a gift for Christmas a HP Z420 with the E5-1620 V2 chipset in it, but I have no idea what I need to enable/disable in the BIOS. I was able to get the hard drives into it, is there any guides on where to / what to do with the BIOS SETTINGS for using as a gaming system?

    i picked one of these up at the local computer shop just across the street. i use it for gaming and video capture. works great. came with a 500gb mechanical hdd and a 500gb sdd. ended up taking the hdd out and replacing it with my 1tb sdd and an extra 222gb sdd. later down the road ill add a few more 8gb ram sticks to it.

      I bought two of these thus year from a going out of business sale. I used one to build a computer for my wife. Swapped the board into an NZXT H150 case and swapped out the 4 core CPU with a Xeon X5680 (6 Core/12 threads) and AN EVGA 650W PSU. Also paired it with a GTX 970 4gb and it is a great computer! I just got one of those for 600 sek, approx 60 USD. Might be a steal! Looked fresh, not much dust. Used by a gamer girl.
    Everything inside except for GPu and a harddrive and 16GB ram like yours. My plan was having it as a retro rig but with all the praise it's gotten I'm sure it can do more, a nice little backup tower.
    Haven't booted it yet since i got another retro going, but i will! :).
    Was installing Windows 10 on it fine? no issues? could it take Windows 11, that's my current question...

      Hi thanks for watching. Windows 10 install went well without a hitch. I’m sure windows 11 will do okay too.

      It is but I wouldn’t advise it. XP hasn’t been supported in several years now so security vulnerabilities will be present. Unless you are keeping it off the Internet, then you should be fine.

    Hey dude I have the same thing, do you know if a RTX 2070ti can fit in here with a i7 6700 with 4 cores? Or would it bottle neck it? I have a GTX 1660 Super just to confirm guys it works! :) Good for VR gaming too for a decent PC! :D :) If your looking for a stable build. Especially for VR Gaming and VR Chat. ^_^ :)

    • @PCTechHustle
      @PCTechHustle  ปีที่แล้ว

      It might bottleneck a bit with that kind of GPU but I would say that is a close balance. I don't think it would be massively detrimental for performance using that combo!

      @PCTechHustle a i7 6850k and a 1060 or 2060 works great and pretty much tops this old computer out. Some ppl say it will run a 1080ti and a 3060 or 30 series gpu, but it's better to balance the system and prevent as many bottlenecks as you can. If you can get your hand on a Samsung 950 NMVE m.2 and a pci adapter , should be able to play any game with maybe a few exceptions.

      @@manhandler I'm planning on getting another HP Z240 because it died not too long ago. And planning on maxing the ram out and adding a 4k card on it if I can ever afford it. Idk if I can get a AMD graphics card or a Nividia card or not on a Intel Motherboard. I heard you can upgrade the CPU on the HPZ240 for VR support to make it even better. As far as I know, if you get a HP Z240, I found out you can add a single i7 7770 on it I think. Which is super dope IMHO I've seen PCs on ebay with that Processor on it and it was pretty cool. Some people even showed pics. I did have a SSD on mine and it ran fast. The power supply sucked tho only had like 400 something of PSU.
      Tho if you can get a i7 7770 working on a HP Z240, max ram out or get 16gb of ram on it DDR4 ram, and a decent GPU, then you're all set for VR and 1080p gaming. I was playing Kingdom Hearts 3 non stop with mods! :D Had a 1tb SSD and 1TB HDD and loved every bit of it. ^_^ Wish you could insall a CPU cooler tho. :( Just, don't let DUST get in this tower PLEASE if you get one. I'm begging you, don't make the same mistake I did. On top of that my GTX 1660 Super melted in the motherboard too. :( It was a HP GTX brand GPU. It was good while it lasted. :( So need to fork up some money on a new card. I miss SteamVR so bad. Ugh. :( And Skyrim VR too. :(
      Also if you plan on getting this tower, PLEASE for the love of god, If the PC case is REFURBISHED, CHECK the CPU's thermal paste and install a new one ASAP! Before you do ANYTHING! With it! Just a tip. I finally learned to install Thermal paste. So please just dear god double check for old thermal paste. Make sure you buy from a good buyer too! :)

      I’ve seriously thought about that and looks like you can! The only caveat looks to be the motherboard power which is a 18pin but you can adapt that.
